Emily-Grace`s birthstory
I was due to be induced because my babies have been large in the past. I went in Tuesday June 17th at 7am. They started me on antibiotics for my group b strep, fluids, and pitocin. After about 4 hours of having pitocin, I wanted my epidural! The anestesiologist came in and I had a panic attack in the middle of my epidural. I was crying, sweating, shaking. All because my first experience I had with my epidural. Anyhow, we got that in and things were fine. I began shaking, and dr said that was an effect of being in labor. When I went in baby was at -4 station and I was 2.5 cm dilated, 50% effaced. When I was about 4 or 5 cm, dr decided to break my water, hoping baby would move down. By about 10 pm or so I was dilated to 6 and 90% effaced. Baby had moved down to a -2 position and during my contractions she was having decelerations in her heartbeat. It went to almost 60 about 5 times. Dr told me baby was not handling the contractions and that she thought the cord was being compressed. We went in for an immediate c-section and she was born June 18th, weighing 6 lb 14 oz, 21 inches. She had the cord around her neck and was a little blue. Dr and I were expecting a much larger baby (that is why she induced a week early) and I was in shock when they told me she was so tiny! She is doing well, she is beautiful and looks just like her big sister. The c-section was the most strange feeling ever! I am on some really good pain meds, and made it home today. I am sore but I`m getting around pretty good. Nick is taking very good care of us. It is taking a little longer for my milk to come in so I am supplementing with formula. She is latching on to the breast and sucking. I plan on breast feeding when my milk comes in. I am so happy she is here, and safe :) Very bummed that I was able to push out my first two children who were 8-8 and 9-5 and needed a csection with my 6-14 baby (my last child!). It was all for a good cause though. She is a great baby and has the cutest little girly cry :) Her brother and sister are just in heaven!
