Well lets see..... Austins birth was the most horrifying experience of my life!! LOL - Although I was just a child myself when Austin was born. I'm 100% sure that had alot to do with the LOOOONG labor. I know I had no business having a child at 15 but these things happen and now I'm 26 and I wouldnt trade my experience with anyone. Now on to the horror story....
I started having contractions in home econimics class when I was 38 weeks pregnant. I remember the teacher was givin a lesson on the projector and was sitting on top of the sewing machine. I tried not to say anything but at my high school we only had 4 classes a day for 2 hours each. So after about an hour I had to ask to go to the nurse. The entire class was looking at me probably wondering if I was about to drop the baby right there. The nurse timed my contractions and I ended up going home since I was finally in labor. That night at home the contractions stayed but didnt get worse so I went to the hosipital the next day. It was a Thursday morning at 7 am. To make a long story short Austin was born until Saturday afternoon. I was contracting but not dialating. Luckily for me Austins heart kept a steady beat and the doctor did not insist on a c-section. The epidural was not given until 2 hours prior to Austins delivery. Talk about teen birth control!!
You know, everyone has to grow up at some point. I just had to do it a little sooner than others.

Daniels birth was a relief! After Austin I was tramatized but obviously not enough to not have anymore kids. I was induced at 39 weeks because Daniels head was in the 100th percentile and he dropped too far in the birth canal too early. I went in at 5 am and 12 hours later Daniel was born. I tried to go without the epidural but I couldnt do it. Maybe with this one..... We'll see!

Sophia-Ashlynn-Burrows`s birthstory
It`s taken me awhile to post Sophia`s birth story but things have been crazy since her arrival. Sophia wasn`t supposed to be here until 1/3/10 but we were scheduled to have our c-section 6 weeks early. We found out during our pregnancy that there were complications, differences, with Sophia. As the pregnancy progessed Sophia started lagging behind in growth. She was diagnosed with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), a heart defect, and we were told we would have to wait until she was born in order to find out the rest. On a Friday at our 34 week check up Sophia had stopped growing and we were told we would have to deliver her soon. That Tuesday at 5:57 PM we welcomed our little miracle into this world. I know everyone says there baby is a miracle but Sophia truly is. At one point during our pregnancy we were told she wouldnt survive and we might deliver a still born. Well, she has proved them all wrong and she is not only here but is thriving and doing well.
My c-section wasnt scheduled until 5:30 pm so we went on like any other day. The kids got up and went off to school while my husband and I ran errands around time. All day I was nervous and felt like my throat was down to my knees. We picked the boys up from school early and headed to the hospital. We had a talk with them over the weekend and explained that Sophia would be a premature baby and that she would be about the size of a doll, a small doll. We told them about her hands and arms so that they knew what to expect when they saw her. When we arrived at the hospital my mom and aunt were there waiting for us. As I was getting ready for the surgery my mom and Aunt watched my two boys and would switch off coming to see me. Time seemed to fly by...... My doctor arrived right at 5:30 pm. As I walked out of the rest room my mom was holding my arm and they told me not to go get back in bed because it was time. My husband was standing there and he had this horrid look on his face. He was terrified for our daughter and for me. He kissed me and told me he would be in soon and off down the hall I walked into the operating room. From the moment I passed the thresh hold I began to shake. It was freezing! There were to anesthesiologist waiting and my nurse and some assistant. They sat me on the gurney and began to prep me for the spinal. the spinal wasnt bad at all and took just a moment. It bagan to work immediately and my legs were already too heavy for me to put them on the gurney myself.
When the drape was put up I began to cry. The anesthesiologist both asked if I was ok and I told them I was scared. I was scared for my daughter....... So at this time my doctor walks in and tells me my husband almost passed out so she`s not allowing him in the OR and that my mom was getting dressed and would be in soon. She sat down began the c-section, they brought my mom in, and I was praying to myself for God to please just let Sophia cry. I asked my doctor if she was going to show her to me and she said , No. She said she wouldnt be stable enough and that she would need to be handed off to the neonatologist right away. The anestheseologist leaned over and said, `She`s almost here Sara.` Soon after I felt something drip on my face, I looked up and saw my beautiful baby! (what dripped on me was blood, lol) All I could do at this moment was cry. Then I realized I hadnt heard her crying so I began to scream, `She`s not crying, Please make her cry, God Please let her cry, Sophie Cry, Cry, Please Cry!` And then.... She cried!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They took Sophia out to the neo team and my husband took our boys to see her. After they did what they needed to do she was brought back in to see me before being taken to the NICU. She was so tiny.... had a head full of hair.... and I fell so much in love! She was only on 30% oxygen and she was doing good.
So I was stappled up and taken to recovery. My mom and Aunt stayed with me until I was taken to my room. My Aunt stayed with me over night as JaVonnie stayed by Sophia and didnt leave her side. I was given a video conference and I could see Sophia since I wasnt able to get out of bed for 12 hours. By the time she arrived in the NICU she no longer needed the oxygen! As soon as my 12 hours was up I walked to the NICU to see my baby. Holding her for the first time was amazing!!
I healed fine from the c-section put I pushed myself too hard. I was told by several nurses that I needed to stop walking so much but I wasnt going to let anything get in my way of being by her side. She was in the NICU and she needed me there.
Sophia is still in the NICU but she`s doing great. She had gotten down to 2 lbs 12 ozs after birth but she`s now almost 4 lbs! Sophia is suspected of having Cornelia De Lange Syndrome but the genetic testing has not come back yet. She has most of the associated symptoms though. Still with my daughter having this syndrome I dont love her any less. She is beautiful and has beaten all odds placed against her.
At one point during my pregnancy a nurse told us that she can give us information on how to `take care` of things. It`s illegal in Texas at the point in the pregnancy that I was at but that there are states in which its not. I think back to that and wonder how many people havent given their child a chance because they knew if the anomalies before birth. How many people have lost their chance at the single greatest gift we are given in this life time. For me, it was never an option.
Sophia is a blessing and has touched lives and hearts way before she was born and she`ll continue to do so as she`s grabbed the hearts of everyone around her.
