Eden-Starr-Gennaro`s birthstory

I started having some cramping and contractions on wednesday (july 30th) nothing too bad but enough that it made it hard to sleep. Thrusday I had a Dr. Apt and was still having some contractions but they were 20 min apart. When she checked me she said I was still only 1cm and 60% thinned, Nothing had changed from the week before. I was a little depressed and thinking I was going to be pregnant forever, little did I know..lol

On the way home from the Dr. I noticed that my contractions were a little more painful but still nothing more then a heavy cramping feeling. I started to time them and they were 15 min apart, I still didnt get my hopes up that anything was going to happen. Later that evening I went for a walk and my contractions became 5min apart and were lasting about 45 seconds. I called the Dr. and was told to wait untill they were 3 min apart for an hour and lasting 60 seconds. An hour later I decided that it was time to head to the hospital as it is an hour drive, and its a good thing we left a little early we were stuck in a traffic jam for over an hour. I was a little worried that I would be having my little girl on the side of the road, cool birth story yes, but not what i had planned. Thank God that wasnt the case.

It was 10:30pm when we got to the hospital they checked me and I was STILL only 1cm but i was now 80% thinned. The dr told me to walk for an hour and a half and then he would check me again and decide if they were going to keep me or send me home. We started walking and after 15min of that my contractions became VERY strong. I was getting light headed and throwing up after each one. The dr came in and checked me and I was 2cm and 90%thinned. He decided to keep me and I was then taken to a room and hooked up to everything. At 12:00am I couldent stand the pain of contractions and asked for something to help, the nurse gave me staidol(sp?) That did nothing but make me feel drunk, i could still feel the contractions. The dr came in and checked me at 1:30am and I was finally 3cm. I gladly accepted the epi, and was able to get a little sleep.

My labor slowed after the epi so I didnt start to pushing untill 12:00pm. I pushed for 2 1/2 hours and at 2:55pm on Friday August 1st, my perfect little girl was born. She Is amazing and though we had a rough time I would do it again in a heart beat!!!
