Corryn`s birthstory
I woke at 7am on Thursday 29 November with slight show, I hadnt packed my bag for hospital yet, so I started to get my bag done just in case I needed to go in. At 8am I started to get contractions very strong every 3 to 5 mins, they were a little irratic. I woke my partner and told him I think Im in labour, carried on getting the other 2 boys ready, one for school, the other to walk up to the school with me...........
At 8.30 my partner asked how close my contractions were, so I told him, they are ever 3 to 5 mins, he shot out of bed so quick, I havent seen him do that for ages lol. Well I had already rang my mum to come and have Codey, so she was on her way to me, which takes an hour arrgggghhhh, hopefully things wont go that quickly I thought. So I got my eldest into school, with the help of my partner riving us to the school, thankfully, I dont think I would have made it if I walked, told his teacher I wont be there to pick him up, got loads of other mums saying Im a nutter walking him to school still lol, hey you just carry on and try and keep it as normal as you can for them dont you. Then carried on to do what I needed to do..........
I went to my dads house to pick up the car seat for the baby, we were only there a few mins and my contractions were starting to come even stronger, taking my breath away now and closer, it was deff every 3 mins now. After my partner put the car seat in the car, we started to head home to get my bag, we got half way there and my partner asked the likely hood of going to a different hospital if we go home, I said very likely, so he took me straight to the hospital I was booked into, I then had to ring my mum for her to meet me there to pick up Codey. I called the hospital on the way as my contractions had very rapidly gone every 2 mins, they said I could end up being sent home yet, but I knew I wasnt going anywhere lol..............
On arrival at the hospital, after getting through the chatotic morning rush hour traffic they examined me to find I had very minimal cervix left, yay not long to go now, although it took another 20 mins after that before I had any urges to push, my mum had come up to be with me and my partner had come back from parking the car, it was only a few mins after that I started to push. It was so hard to concentrate, I had a huge shock as I had only been in labour a little while and already my body was ready to deliver the baby, but I had such a great midwife she managed to talk me through it all, I had old meconium in the waters, which they were keeping an eye while I was delivering his head, they checked for the cord around his neck, at first they thought it was ok, but then found the cord to be around his neck, so they got the cord sorted, then I had another strong contraction and pushed him out. He was very blue when he was born, as I was panicking a little too much cause I was in so much shock, but within seconds he took his second breath and the colour started to come back, he was fine...........
After they had checked him over and delivered the placenta they gave him to me for skin to skin contact, they checked me and i didnt need any stitches, even though I tore slightly, then I was allowed to do pretty much what I wanted, Codey was allowe to come up to see us as soon as I was ready, so me and my partner had some time on our own with Corryn, then we called my mum for them to all come back and bring Codey to meet his baby brother. It was really nice too, he was so excited..........
I had to stay in for 24 hours after he was born, just in case he had breathed in any of the meconium, but thankfully all was ok and we went home the very next day at dinner time................
