Colin-Richard-McKinley-Kopacko`s birthstory

Well... I had been on tributaline pills for almost 3 weeks to stop pre-term labor and went to the hospitl 3 times between weeks 32-36 to get shots to help... So Wednesday June 18th I went in for my 4pm appointment and was 3cm still but contractions were right on top of eachother so I went into the hospital. They tried pitocin because the baby`s heart rate was dropping too often... that made the heart rate drop more and scared the hell out of me! So they stopped pitocin and gave me an epidural to try and help calm me and oxygen to stabalize his heart rate... it worked thank God!!! So I was `stalled` at 4cm for two hours (4 hours into labor... at 12am) and they checked me again at 2am and I was still 4cm... the nurse was talking about doing a c-section and decided to call in the doctor... the doctor checked me ten minutes later and I was 10cm!!!!!!! INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So they began to rush to get things together for delivery because his head was right there! The nurses were making bets on how many pushes it would take... one said 4... the other said 3 pushes... the shoke on it and I started pushing haha... I pushed for 8 minutes and he was here :0) Only 3 pushes!!!!!!!!!!! Could not have asked for a better delievery (minus the SCARY heart rate stuff!)!!! He was predicted to be at 6.9 lbs and 20 inches... they were a little off... he was ONLY 5 lbs. 7 oz. and 18 inches... he was at the 11th percential for his weight and had trouble keeping up his blood sugar so went to the NICU until my milk came in 3 days later... he only had to have an IV to help regulate his sugar and the warmer to help regulate his body temp... he did WONDERFULLY in the NICU (although I cried my eyes out the night he had to go! The last night we were there he slept in the parent room with us and we were discharged the next morning because he did soooo well with feeding :0) He is still a little jaundice but we are just sitting in the window throughout the day to get him some sunlight! He is now 9 days old and weighs 5lbs. 10oz. and is 18 inches... he is SUPER cute and I LOVE BEING A MOTHER!!! He is doing wonderfully and is such a JOY to have :0) Never cries (including when he is hungry) he just grunts a little and coos a lot! Newborn clothes and diapers swollow him up haha... so I guess his massive waredrobe will last us longer than a year! They are saying he will be small for his age for at least the first 18 months but should catch up after that... He has physical therapy visits every three months for the first two years to check his growth (since he was so small for gestational age) and that is it :0) He is PERFECT in every way!!!

I could go on for HOURS but I will stop! Thanks for all your support while we were on this site! Can`t wait to see when all of you have your babies! Keep them in as long as you can... I know you want them here... but it was soooo hard to have him in the NICU... it is worth waiting as long as you can! Best wished to all of you :0)
