Josephine-Olivia`s birthstory

Well we went in to labor and delivery at 6:00 a.m. on Monday 4/7. I wasn`t put on petocin until 10:00 a.m. The broke my water at about 4:30. I told them that I did want to have an epidural. After they broke my water the contractions were VERY painful! I was only 3 cm dilated at that point. I got the epidural at about 6:00 and as soon as it kicked in I was out. I slept until about 10:30. At that time, they checked my cervix and I was only 6 cm!! I started getting worried that my drugs were going to wear off before the delivery! So, I fell back asleep and was awaken at 11:30 with an odd sensation--I panicked because I thought I was feeling contractions again and the medicine had worn off. Then I realized it felt different. (Nate had just fallen asleep at this point). I woke him up and told him that we needed to call the nurse in. Sure enough...I was completed dilated and her head was coming out. I started pushing and after one push her head had gone through the pelvis and she was on her way out. They had me breathing instead of pushing because she was coming to fast and the doctor wasn`t there yet. Well, she couldn`t wait forever and she came out at 12:33! 6 lbs 13 oz and 20 inches long--oh, and a full head of long dark brown hair. She was absolutely gorgeous and was starving the minute she came out! Everyone in the room kept saying how beautiful she was. The doctor never did make it in time and the 2nd doctor on the floor they called didn`t make it in time either, so the two resident doctors actually delivered our little Josephine.
