Alyssa-Kaylee`s birthstory
First of all we just moved into a new house on August 6th and we had almost everything still in boxes. I wasn`t too worried because I had just been to the doctor 2 days earlier and he said I was only 1 cm dilated and still very thick and that I had at least 2 weeks until I would deliver. Then on Friday night the 7th I didn`t sleep well at all and at 7:30 on the 8th I finally woke myself up fully and realized that something was wrong. I thought there was a good chance I could be in labor but was hoping it was a false alarm. I soon realized that it wasn`t. I went to the hospital right away even though I knew it was a little early because I wanted a status check on what my body was up to and if there was enough time to get my parents to fly here for the birth. At that time my contractions were 5 min apart lasting 30-60 seconds. The nurses said I was only 2 cm but 90% effaced with a bulging bag of waters and that I would be having the baby within the day. They said I had time to go home and eat breakfast and take a shower and come back when the pain was too much and I was ready. So I went home and took a shower and ate and hurried to unpack as much of the babies stuff from boxes as possible and to finish packing my hospital bag. I went back to the hospital at 11 when the contractions were pretty bad. They checked me again and said I was 100% effaced and the baby was at -1 and almost 3 cm dilated. They went ahead and ordered the epidural and I finally got it at 1:30 pm. I felt so much better after that! Then they checked me again right after the epi and I was at 7 cm. The epidural made me tired and I rested while waiting to get to 10 cm. I finally got there at 3:45 and my body was all ready but I was too numb to push. They stopped the epidural and waited until I had feeling and could push. I was finally feeling some pressure and getting some feeling back in my lower body at 5:15. At 5:20 the doctor showed up and I had 3 1/2 pushes over 10 minutes and had the baby at 5:30. It was so easy, smooth and pain free compared to when I had my son 3 years ago. It was WONDERFUL! The baby is very healthy 7lbs 7oz. and 20 1/4 inches long. Luckily for me I only tore a little bit and was feeling pretty good after. It was all such a great birth except for the fact my parents couldn`t get here in time for it. Alyssa is such a sweet baby. In fact I think she may be defective. Just kidding. She almost never cries and even then only for a few seconds. She sleeps a lot, loves to be held, and is always very content and she nurses great! I am so in love with her! I wish everyone as great an experience with labor and delivery as I had.
