On Sunday July 26th, It was a typical day. I woke up and went to work at 6 am, as it was my second to last day before my maternity leave was to start. At around 9ish that morning I started getting a few contractions which was fairly normal, however since I knew she was breech I needed to time them to insure they were not getting too close together. After timing them until around noon that day I decided I better make a trip to labor and delivery just to get checked out. I was the only one at work that day so I called my co-worker to take over a project I was supposed to do and to let her know that I was leaving work and to be on standby in case any work issues came up.
I got to L&D and they immediately took me back and hooked me up to the fetal monitor and the monitor for contractions. I called and updated my husband that I would just let him know if he needed to come or not since we live about 45 minutes away and he was at home that day, I didnt want him to drive all that way if it was just braxton hicks. So they watched me for a while and the contractions actuualy stopped, then they started again in full force, pretty regularly. The nurse called my doctor again to fill him in that they had re-started...he then decided to do the c-section that night vs. that coming wednesday. EKKKK, Thats when my herat started pounding and I got really nervous. I first called my husband and I said get all the bags and come ASAP, as they decided to do it at 7:00pm that night. I then began to call other family, my mom, my dad, my brother, ect.
At around 5:45 pm my entire family and in-laws arrived in my birthing suite, there was about 10 poeple in that room with me waiting until they took us back to surgury. It was a bit overwheliming and everything was moving so quickly to say the least! My doctor and the anastesiologist were in a battle as to when to start since I had a meal at 11:45 that day at work for lunch. My doctor wanted to get the show on the road since he got called in on a sunday...and the anastesiologist wanted to be on the safe side to insure my luch was digested. Well the anastesiologist won, thank god! It bought me some time and I felt better that I was safer that way.
So they had me walk into the OR at around 7:00 pm, as hubby waited outside. The then had me sit on the side of the table, and bend down words hugging a pillow as they game me a shot in my back to numb it before they gave me my spinal, this did not hurt at all. Then the spinal came and I literally felt not one second of it...yay! Past one hurdle! They then laid me down, and strapped down my legs and pulled my gown way up...hello! I felt so exposed to everyone in that entire room, which was a team of about 8-10 people! That soon went away when they started up the morphine and brought hubby in. Then the put the drape up and got started. At one point as they were getting to her, I did start to feel some pain or intense pressure, I let the anastesiologist know..and she increased the morphine a bit and WAM I just about passed out or something...I just remember hanging on with all I had in me to not go to sleep! Second later after tugging and pressure I could hear a beutifull crying noise....my daughter! OMG what an amazing sound to hear after trying for 5 years for a baby. My heart melted and all my worries went away at that moment! As they were literally sewing me up and we were adoring out sweet little girl me and hubby decided on her name...Kamryn Avery Boswell.
Once they were done they placed my baby in my arms and wheeled me out where all my family was waiting...at that time I was feeling no pain of course. After the family held the baby they sent them out so I could feed her. Then came the puking from the morphine...this went on for 2 days. Recovering in the hospital was so hard...nurses where constanstly in and out that I was getting no sleep...I also refused any drugs other than tylenol so the pain was quite intense. I finally insisted on going home after the third night. I could not take one more second of being in that place! Once I got home and had all the support of my family...I have been healing soo much better and our neighbors have brought us food every single night sine we got home....it is so great to have so much love and support! Its now 8 days later and we both are doing so good...and no more tylenol is even needed.....
