Sierra-Lilikoi`s birthstory
I tried to make it clear that I wasn't ready to come into the world. What part of
"not dropping" did Mommy's doctor not understand? What part of "keeping my
weight down" did Mommy's doctor not understand? Unfortunately, I don't call the
shots (yet). Mommy's doctor vacuumed me out of a hole in Mommy's belly. I could
hear the doctor talking about how I wasn't coming down and how she didn't
understand why I wouldn't come out. If I could speak, I would have told her "I'M
NOT DUE YET!"
You see, I am not really supposed to be here yet. I was
supposed to come after Easter. That was my plan so that I could actually enjoy
my first Easter Bunny Holiday with the family but instead they pulled me out a
week early. They wouldn't even let me come out on the Full Moon or Good Friday.
They said it was a holiday. Argh.
At least Mommy's not mad with me. From
what I understand, she's a real trooper. She went to the hospital at 9:30 a.m.
and was scheduled to "deliver" me via Cesarean Section at 11:30 a.m. I came out
at 12:08 p.m. – just in time for lunch.
Mom cried a little bit though –
this is what Dad said in the nursery – because they wouldn't let me see her for
four whole hours. I was okay because Daddy spent a lot of time with me and he
was so excited he just kept running back and forth to tell Mommy that I was okay
and to let me know how she was doing. We're all okay.
Mommy had a
"spinal" and some intravenous drugs. She liked them and the nurses said that
Mommy was very flexible and well maintained so Mommy didn't need stitches on her
tummy – they just glued her shut! They even invited Mommy back because she
didn't scream or cry or anything during the "spinal." She was upset though
because they kept us at the hospital for three whole days even though Mommy
could walk and was even doing work on the computer.
I am not doing quite
as well as Mommy though. I am yellow and I don't poop. It's because they cut me
out and so Mommy's milk isn't letting down. I really need the milk so that my
bilirubin numbers will decrease and I'll turn a natural color. The doctors keep
threatening to feed me formula and this makes Mommy cry so I think it must not
be a good idea.
I've trained Mommy well. She has learned that even though
I like (need) to be swaddled, I really like having my right hand out. Daddy is
still in denial and tries to put me in the full blanket jail but Mommy just lets
me feel the air through my fingers. She figured this out when she was having
those ultrasounds done, since my hand was always up by my face. Hey, what can I
say? That's where I like to put my hand! I like my fingers on my lips or under
my chin. Daddy isn't so good at swaddling but he's still my hero.
Okay,
I guess that's it for my story. I came out with a fight but it still only took
38 minutes and nobody got hurt. Mommy recovered so well that she and Daddy are
talking about giving me a brother next year and Mommy lost 10 pounds before she
left the hospital. Unfortunately, her belly is unsightly and she had to wear a
pad that was 12-inches wide and 3 feet long. It was so funny that she insisted
on wearing it even when she didn't need it. Ha-ha.
Tootles and Aloha.
