Flew from London to Philippines, I was already 34 weeks but managed to get a medical certificate from my GP confirming that I am fit to travel. I`ve always wanted to be in the Philly for xmas not just to be with friends - best friend just got married so I managed to be there for that - but also to have a time out on all those dramas in my life... being on my own while pregnant is hard so wanted to have relax and enjoy the last few weeks of my pregnancy. Arrived in the Philly on the 23rd of December 2007, flew to Ilo Ilo on the 26th of December to attend the wedding then had to see a gynae as I need to have a medical clearance to travel back to London. Then travelled from Ilo Ilo to Boracay - 5 hours drive by land... stayed in the hotel from 28th to 31st of December. On the 30th of December 2007 my water broke... well at the time I didnt know that it was my water lols, I thought it was all the drink I drunk.. even went swimming then couldnt stop dripping lols well that`s the best word to explain it actually because you just constantly dripping it will stop then suddenly you will feel like you just peed and it can be embarrassing ... then early morning of 31st of December 2007 I started feeling the cramps I thought it was all the food I ate and thought that I had an upset tummy but it wasn`t... Gio - a friend - the guy I was travelling with asked me if I was ok and I said no that my tummy hurts that was about 7 in the morning... so he told me to stay put and he will get a doctor .... I mean come on we were in an island so didnt have any clue where the nearest hospital is... about 30 minutes later he came back with the doctor from the island and asked me if it is ok to be internally checked i said yes and took some details of me then he informed me that I was already 7 cm delated I was bloody shocked! So he told me that the nearest hospital is in the other island because the one the they have in Boracay wont be able to accommodate premature baby at this time I was only 35 weeks and 2 days pregnant so the baby will have to stay in the incubitor for days I guess.. so he told me that there are two way to get to the other island one is by speed boat which will take two hours .... and when we get to the other island will have to get an ambulance which will take another an hour... another options is by helicopter which will take 30 minutes then there will be an ambulance waiting for us when we get to the other Island.... obviously I`ve chosen the helicopter option...didnt care about the bill can do that later... so when we get to the hospital there`s another doctor who looked after me and she did the internal examination and was informed that I was 8 cm delated then was taken to the delivery room and then after few minutes of pushing I gave birth to my little angel Alexander Gabriel Jake... weighting 5.1 lbs... he stayed in the incubitor for a day and now doing the theraphy and stayed for another week... he now healthy and doing well.
