Lacey's Birth Story....
I was 15 years old and had a great boyfriend Joe, we were both shocked to find out I was pregnant. My mom was horrified. His father wasen't too happy either. We had only been going out 3 months when we found out. Joe stood by me and we are still together, married for almost 13 years now. we married when Lacey was 9 months old.
December 22 1995 I was having bad pains and couldnt get ahold of Joe, he was at a friends house. After about an hour I was finally able to get him on the phone and he rushed over to my house. My mothers car was stuck in our driveway (snow storm) so I called my bestfriends mother to come take us to the hospital including my mother. we got to the hospital and I was dialted to 4cm. i had been 4cm for 2 weeks. My contractions stopped and I was sent home. About 4 hours after i arrive home in the middle of the night they started up again. They hurt so I paced around the house and it helped alot. I decided to go laydown and try to get some sleep. The contractions stopped. I was able to sleep through the night. I woke up the next morning Dec 23rd and I felt terrible, I felt really sick to my stomach and thought I was gonna vomit, I had an appointment at 2:00 that day. All day I just layed around, no contractions nothing. I got to my OB appointment and I told my doctor that I was at the hospital the night before and was sent home and now today I felt like I was going to vomit. He looked at me and said "UH OH" let me check your cervix. He checked me and said your going to the hospital, I asked why and he said You are 8cm. So he rushed me out the door where my mother and Joe were waiting and I said we have to go to the hospital and explained why. We got there and they broke my bag of water. Then the pain started. I was crying my eyes out. My mother sat next to me in a rocking chair and Joe kept rubbing my arms, he felt so bad cuz he couldnt do anything for me. The hospital didnt have birthing rooms so when I was complete they took me to the operating room. They draped blue clothes over my legs all the way to my neck and I pushed and pushed... It was taking forever it seemed. Joe said he couldnt see anything and they acted like they didnt want him to see (maybe they thought we were too young). Finally after what seemed like forever my doctor said he was going to use a vacuum. I said I didnt care just get it out. I had to have an episotomy and a few minutes later she was out. She had a small bump on her head from the suction but looked great. i was so exhausted, I didnt wanna hold her at first... She weighted 6lbs 15.5 and was 20 inches long. All my friends showed up at the hosptial to see her, thye told me she looked fat lol. I have a twin sister and when she was leaving they yelled at her to get back in bed lol they though she was me. She had to explain that we were twins lol. The nurses there treated Joe and I like crap, like we were dumb etc. I assume because we were so young.. She had jaundice and had to have a billirubin light. She had a nurse come to the house everyday... after about a week she was cleared up!

It was quite a long time ago, 9 years to be exact :)
It was June 1st 1998. I had been having the urge to clean all day long and felt full of energy. My husband came home from work around 5pm and we decided to go to Kmart and buy new outdoor trash cans. We walked around Kmart for a few hours and left. On our way home we decided we wanted to grab something for dinner and my husband Joe remembered we had Tubby's sub coupons buy one get one free behind the truck seat. So he pulled over and had my daughter and I lean forward so he could grab the coupons (it was like a full bench seat). When he pushed us forward I felt a tug in my belly, I didn't really think nothing of it. So my hubby got the coupons and off we went! I couldn't wait to eat... we started driving down the road and I felt like a small gush when we hit bumps but didnt wanna say anything incase I was imagining it. So I kept my mouth shut. Then we hit another bump, and felt like a squishy feeling. I wore pantyliners toward the end of my pregnancy so what i was feeling was my panty line being full of liquid :) I then said to my husband I think my water broke! So off to the hospital we went. We stopped along the way to call my 2 sisters to meet us to the hospital. The hospital was a mile away. We got to the hospital around 7:15pm . Both my sisters were already there lol they beat us. My husband ran in and got a wheel chair, my daughter still had no clue what was going on she was only 3. So I got in the chair and my daughter walked along side of me. My sisters took her to the ward and waited with her in the waiting area. We had to register and all that good stuff and waited another 15 minutes for someone from the maternity ward to come get me. I wasent having any kind of contractions at all yet. Finally a lady came with another chair and helped me get up and i sat in the new chair, she asked me why i was there and i said my water broke and showed her the chair i just got up from and there was a puddle in it lol. she said oh yes you certainly did. I got up to my room, and they helped me change out of my soaked clothes, I was wearing all white and they said oh good your fluid is clear. Got dressed and into the bed i went. They hooked me up to the monitors and then checked me. I was already at 8cm! They asked me if i needed anything for pain and I said I wanted to do it all natural. About 15 minutes later the pain started!! It was horrible much worse than with my daughter. It hurt so bad I was gripping onto the head board and tensing up. The nurses kept yelling at me telling me to relax my body. Then I told the nurse I felt like I had to poop (yum) she told me oh its probably the baby coming down she checked me and said oh your complete why dont you try some pushing, she left the room as i started to push and guess what I wasent lying about having to poop! I pushed and out it came, she came back in the room and i said i told you i had to poop, she just looked at me walked over to me and wiped me. I was so embarrassed. My doctor came in a few minutes later and I pushed and pushed etc. At times I told them I cant do it I cant do it, and the nursed kept encouraging me and then I felt a really bad burning sensation "the ring of fire" the babies head was coming out. I had to get an episiotomy. I'm not sure how long I pushed but at 10:02pm my son was born! They put him on my chest and it was amazing, with my daughter her doctor didnt do this for me. He weighed 7lbs 15oz and was 20 inches long. As soon as I gave birth and my husband an i held him for a while my hubby ran and got me a big ol whopper from burger king lol I was starving. My daughter was kind of afraid of her new baby brother at first, but got use to him really quick. (now they fight like cats and dogs) we stayed in the hospital for 2 days. :)

I went in to be induced March 22, 2008 at 6pm. I got there, registered and went up stairs. I got to the nurses station and told them I was there and they looked at me and said `oh you aren`t suppose to be here til 7:00pm. I said No I was told 6! So they looked at the chart again and said nope 7, it`s alright though we`ll get you going.
So they took my sister Emily, my daughter Lacey and son Marcus to the waiting room while they got me all set up. I was already having contractions 3-5 minutes apart but I wasen`t feeling any pain. I was really anxious and scared. I wasen`t sure what to expect with Pitocin.
They checked me at 7pm and I was still dilated the same as I was wednesday at my ob visit. 2-3cm and 50% effaced and baby was -3 station. That bummed me out. They started the Pitocin at 7:30 on the lowest setting (2). I had to wear a oxygen mask from then on it sucked. After that my contractions started to pick up but I still wasen`t feeling any pain. They were just getting tighter feeling and longer. At 10:00pm the Doctor came back in and checked me. I was still 2-3 but the head came down to -2 and I was now 60% effaced. I was still bummed it seemed to be taking forever!!
I layed in bed thinking about all the pain I was going to be in and it made me a little depressed. I wasen`t ready for it.. All I kept saying to my sister and husband was I don`t wanna hurt. My sister left with my son around 9pm and my husband and daughter stayed with me. I was able to get some sleep here and there. My friend Katie came to the hospital around 10pm I feel asleep while she was there and I'm not sure when she left lol.

The doctor came back in at 4:30 and checked me I was now dilated to a full 3cm ,70% effaced and he said ok we are gonna break your water and put an internal contraction monitor inside. It took him about 2 mins to get my water to break, he said it was pretty tough, it hurt so bad. It felt like he was digging around inside of me. (I didnt remember it hurting with my last 2) Joey my husband held my hand and kept telling me he will be done in a min. Finally I felt the warm flow of water, it kept going and going and going. The doctor asked me if my doctor told me I had access fluid. It took about 2 or 3 minutes to get all of it to come out, he held my cervix and vagina open to make sure it was all out. They had to get extra towels to soak it all up. My fluid was clear. I asked how soon I could get an epidural, the nurse told me I had to be atleast 4cm before they would give me one but I could get something in my I.V if I needed. I decided to wait.
My contractions started to come closer after that and they started to feel like sharp menstrual cramps. I just breathed through them.
At 5:20 am my doctor and nurse came in and said ok you want to get the epidural now. I said I SURE DO. I was suprised because they were just in not to long before and told me I had to be at 4cm.The epi was no where near how I thought it would be. It didn`t hurt at all. I didn`t even feel the numbing needle. He stuck in the other needle and I felt pressure and he asked if it was right in the middle (the pressure feeling) I said no its kinda off to the left, so he took it out renumbed me and did it again. This time it was right on the money. The next thing I know he says `needles out` . That was fast :) About 2 mins later I started to feel no cramping, just the tightness of the contractions and in about 20 mins my legs and belly felt a little numb, but I could wiggle my toes and move my legs. They upped my pitocin to 6
I layed back down to try to get some rest, I layed there and started to feel some pain in my vagina and at 5:49am the nurse came in, she said I wanna check you, you are having some variables and I think you may have dilated more. So I rolled onto my back and she checked and she said oh wow your 8cm, 0 station. She upped my pitocin to 8 and got on my call button and said can I have a doctor in here please. The doctor came in about 30 seconds later and checked me for himself. He said yep she`s 8!
They called the my doctor to come to the hospital. I immediatly started to feel horrible pressure and kept telling the nurse "I think he`s coming I think he`s coming", so she got back on the call button and said I need a doctor and baby care in this room. They started to bring all the equiptment into the room ( I started to get excited I was almost done). The student doctor stood at the foot of my bed and kept checking me when I was having contractions. At 6:54 I was fully dilated. I then had the urge to poo/push. I said I have to poop I have to poop lol they said go ahead and poop. I didn`t want to. So I pushed and no poop thank god it was just the feeling. The doctor said If we were to pull your legs back right now you will have this baby with out your doctor being here so try to blow through the contractions, if you have to you can push here and there but try to wait for your doctor. It seemed like it was taking forever. I held him in for about 20 minutes while my doctor was on the way. He came right in and I started pushing. Everyone was makin jokes and making my husband and I laugh. My daughter was on the phone next to my bed talking to my sister, she wanted to hear the birth. My sister asked my daughter is your mom laughing?..
I pushed and pushed and he was right there but he wasent coming out, so my doctor asked if i was having back contractions or front contractions. I was having more pain in my back (when i could feel them) so he said he may be posterior (facing up) so he was trying to move him around. It turned out his head was a little turned to the side and thats why it was hard for me. My doctor ended up using the vacuum to help him out. OH MY GOSH that was alot of pressure, It didnt hurt when he was tugging him out but the feeling of me opening up was something else let me tell ya :) it felt like my hips were spreading. His head popped out and my husband told my daughter "look look lacey his head is out", lacey looked and immediatly said oh my god and ran back to the front of the bed. Joey kept looking at me and saying he`s here whitney he`s here. The babys eyes were wide open. Then my doctor tugged and told me to push and he was out! Oh what a relief! I was finally done. He immediatly started screaming! My daughter Lacey got to cut the cord. I have a 1st degree tear but its not to terrible feeling. My placenta came out about a minute later and it took about a half hour to sew me up because my doctor was teaching the student doctor. My husband and daughter were over at the warmer immediatly talking to the baby. I would have to say this was the easiest birth other than the vacuum. I hardly felt any pain and once things got moving (water broke) I had him in no time!!
