Isaiah-Thomas-Dickey`s birthstory
I went in on June 3rd to be induced. Had to wait 2 hours because my blood pressure was too high and Isaiahs heartrate was too fast. Once on the pitocin it took along time till the contractions really started in. During the whole labor Isaiahs heartrate kept dropping and staying low so they kept me changing positions to make sure he kept active and awake. At about 5 cm dialated I agreed to have the epidural because I was having back labor that was so horrible! At 2:35am the following day, my water broke on its own! But at that time I was only 7cm dialated and they told me that it would still be a while before he would make his entrance. At about 3:30 I told the nurse I was having alot of pressure which she told me was normal and I asked her to check me again. I was 9 1/2 cm!! The doctor was already on her way to the hospital to assess me, so when she came in the room the nurses had everything set up to deliver my baby. At 3:51am I started pushing and at 3:58am my son made his entrance into the world. As his head was coming out, the doctor noticed the cords were wrapped around his neck twice. Once she removed the cords from around his neck he started crying. The doctors and nurses immediately took him and started assessing him. His heartrate was way too fast, 200 and he was breathing too fast. I was sooo scared. Noone would tell me if he was ok! Finally after about 15 minutes they let me hold him! My son was born with Agenisis of the corpus callosum (where the connector between the left hemisphere and the right was missing) he also has colpocephaly (the enlargement of the fluid space in the back of the brain) and also had a brain hemmorage. He still can beat the odds and live a perfectly normal life, and that is what I pray for. Either way I love him and will never regret having him. He has changed my life sooo much!
