Tayson-Rex`s birthstory
I was scheduled to be induced Tuesday morning at 5. I went in and got settled in my room, they stuck me to get the IV in me, and then all of a sudden I got really nauseas and lightheaded. The baby`s heart rate dropped REALLY low, like down to 70, so they made me roll over and get on all fours and put my head down while they shook my stomach around. I was still lightheaded and felt really out of it. Then a lady came in a started asking me a million questions like how I reacted to general anestetic and all this, and that they might have to do an emergency c-section. I was freaking out because if I had to have a c section, I wanted to be awake. The baby`s heart rate finally went back up, so I asked to have the epi put in so that if it happened again and I HAD to do a c sec, then we could just start the meds. They started pitocin and the heart rate dropped again, so they stopped it. I was having small contractions on my own, but nothing to help along the dilation or effacement. Doc finally came in and broke my water, then told them to start me on an EXTREMELY low dose of pitocin. Baby reacted better to it then, so they upped it to the normal start dose. The contractions started to get a little painful, but I still wasn`t progressing as fast as they would like, so we stepped it up again, and this time the contractions actually hurt so I asked for some meds. They gave me a lower strength then the normal epi, but it made me itch really badly, and couldn`t get it to stop, so we just did the full strength epi. Every time I would lay on my left side, the baby`s heart rate would drop again, so I was on my left side pretty much all day. By about 8:30, I was finally fully dilated and the nurse said I could start pushing. I got really nauseas again, and threw up once. The nurse told me I couldn`t have any more ice chips because it would make it worse, but my mouth was completely dry and it was hard to breathe, so I had hubby get me some water to swish with. I spit it out into the puke pan, and then gagged, and hubby accidently got some of my spit water on the nurse when he tried to get it under my mouth before the puke came up, and the nurse was REALLY rude about it. Hubby apologized and said `if it makes you feel any better, it really was just water with a little spit` and she glares at him and says `um, not really`. I think she thought it was my throw up. I was really pissed how rude she was being though. She`s a nurse for crying out loud. There are a lot more bodily fluids that could be worse than spit. She was rude the entire rest of the night, and didn`t even sign the little certificate they gave me. Anyway, we pushed to get the head past the bone, and then the doc got there. I pushed for around an hour and a half. By the time he got there, he was basically on his way out, and I tore all the way back because he didn`t have time to do an episiotomy. My baby boy was 8 lbs 8 oz, 20 1/2 in long and born at 9:50 pm.
