Birth Story

Shea Lilah was born March 24, 2008 at 5:56 am. She was 8 lbs 13.6 oz and 20.5 inches long. She was born by c-section after 60 hours of labor. We got sent home twice in active labor because the docs were confused when she kept backing up. After 48 hours they realized she was just big for mommy who was now dialated to a 4 and FINALLY got an epidural. The labor was very painful and quite horrific and after the epidural Mommy continued to have contractions for 12 hours and at the tail end started to feel them again. Then i got a fever and they realized it was time for a c. The c section was great, hardly see any stitches and was finally relieved of pain. The second I heard my baby cry, every sec was worth it. She had to go to nicu for four hours because i had the fever and it was protocol but she was perfectly healthy. She was swollen from trying to get our for three days but on day 3 it went down. She had to get antibiotics just in case because mommy got an infection. She only lost 3 percent of her birthweight and now that the meds are out of her system (morphine and stadol because of the long labor) she eats like such a cute lil pig. We love her so much and are so full of joy.
