Birth Story
Sorry it took so long

My due date was on February 24th, 2008. I had my last doctors appointment on February 13th where my doctor informed me his office would be contacting me to tell me the date and time to go to the hospital to be induced. I was so damn excited. When I got home, there was a message there telling me to be at the hospital at 6 in the morning on Friday the 22nd. I couldn't believe it....now I knew for sure that if I didn't have him on my own by then I would be having him no later then the 23rd. Not much ahead of my due date, but better then going over. Well on Tuesday, of the week I was to be induced, my doctor called me and told that due to some problems (not with me, on there part) he wanted me to come in the following day at 8 in the morning. Wow is the only word that could come to mind when he told me this.

So on the morning of the 20th, Jeremy, my Dad, and my sister Natosha made our way to the hospital. We got there at about 7:30 in the morning. They sent us up to labor and delivery where I was put in a gown and hooked up to the monitors. The nurse told me I was having contractions already, but they were nothing painful or regular. She had hooked up my IV and added the bag of pitocin by 8:10am. She checked me and said I was 2 centimeters dilated and 100 percent effaced. By 8:30 I was feeling more of my contractions and they were about every 7 to 8 minuets apart. The nurse offered me my epidural, but I didn't feel the need for it at the time so I told her no thank you. She continued to come in and check me through the day and up my level of pitocin. I was slowly progressing. By the middle of the day I wasn't even to a full 5 centimeters. My contractions were getting more painful and had moved to my back. I ended up throwing up a few times and my blood pressure went up a little bit. My contractions continued to get more painful and were coming every 2 minuets. The nurse reduced my pitocin level and put me on oxygen because my contractions were causing Jason's heart rate to drop. Everything was fine within a few minuets. She informed me that my doctor was going to be here around 5pm to check on me and break my water. I decided to try and told out on the epidural till after he came and broke my water. Well by 7:30 he wasn't there and after being in labor for 11 hours, I said to hell with it, I want the epidural. The guy that did it was awesome and I barley even felt it. The shot they give you before putting the catheter thing in is what hurt the worst. After that I went numb and could no longer feel shit. It was awesome. My doctor finally made his appearance around 9:30 pm ( I was so pissed). He came in, broke my water,(i was still only 5 centimeters) told me that if I didn't show signs of progressing by midnight, I was going to have a C Section. As soon as he broke it, I felt pressure. The nurse said that she would be back to check me in about 2 hours. I tried getting some sleep but the pressure was getting worse and more uncomfortable. I called the nurse back in around 10:45 to check me because I started feeling the need to push. She came in and told me it was to soon to try and get some rest for when it was time. I told her she needed to check me anyway so she did and discovered me to be 8 centimeters. She left and said she'd be back in an hour. My epidural was wearing off and I was feeling my contractions again. With each one the pressure got worse and worse. True to her word she walked through the door at 11:30 and checked me again. I was almost a full 10. There was still a small part of my cervix remaining on my right side which is where I was feeling most of the pressure from his head. She told me to push while she had her fingers in me pushing on my cervix. She did that a couple times and told me she'd be back at 12. When midnight came, she was back and had me pushing. She didn't tell me it was the real thing, but I figured it out pretty soon. I had Jeremy holding my left leg and my sister Natosha holding my right leg. The nurse had me push 2 to 3 times counting to 10 with each contraction I had. My epidural had completely worn off and the pain i felt is something I will never forget. The nurse, Jeremy and my sister were very encouraging and kept telling me how great of a job I was doing. I also had my Dad, my mother in law, and my friend Leslie in there. Plus all the nurses and my doctor. Big audience. Surprisingly I never once screamed or cussed anybody out during my whole stay at the hospital. Once his head was further down my birth canal, they put a mirror down there so I could see what was going on. That image is forever burned in my brain. When he started crowning they called my doctor in to finish up the delivery. Him along with like 4 other people came in. They moved the mirror and he had me start pushing. I felt him cut me to make room for his head. I pushed another 5 or 6 times until his head came out. As soon as he sucked all the crap out of him, I pushed one more time, causing me to tear as his shoulders came out. I was open from on whole to the other. Jason took his first breath of at at 1:33 in the morning of Feb. 21st. My doctor cut his cord and they placed him on my chest. He locked eyes with me immediately and I was filled with so much love that I thought I would burst. At the same time I was also in so much pain that I had to have the nurse take him off of me because I was shaking so bad. Then the most intense pain came as soon my doctor started the process of removing of afterbirth and sewing me up. Holy shit...I would of rather gave birth again. He was nothing gentle. And an asshole on top of that. Jeremy said her had his whole fist up there ripping stuff out. Sorry if that was to much. haha Took 12 stitches to close me back up. Then after he was done, he washed his hands and walked out of the room. I couldn't believe it, not the whole time he was in there did he say 2 words to me. I could of killed him. Oh well, the only thing that mattered now was that my son was here and as healthy as can be.

7 pounds, 2 ounces, 20 and a half inches long with a head circumference of 13 inches. If he had been any bigger, I wouldn't have been able to have vaginal birth. The first 2 weeks were the roughest all around. Both for healing and getting use to being a new mommy. Now things are better then ever. I am healed up and feeling great. Jason is an awesome baby. The only time he ever cries is when he is hungry. He is already sleeping in his crib and only wakes me up once, sometimes twice a night. I can't believe how lucky both Jeremy and I are to have not only been blessed with a baby, but a extremely good baby at that.
