Luciana-Olivia`s birthstory

well around 10pm on the 29th of april, i was sitting on the couch watching tv. my back had been aching all day but i had chalked it up to pregnancy backache and tried to ignore it. i was having a slight tightening of the belly randomly. like 9mins apart, 5 mins apart, 3 mins apart, 9 mins.....etc etc. however, my back kept getting more and more painful. i tried to go to sleep but was awaken every few mins by the contractions. at around 4 am, i finally rolled over and told the hubby to get ready to leave. we showered and stopped for coffee. arrived at hosp at around 7. thats when it started getting painful. 3 cms dialated and contractions every 2-3 mins. brought me into a birthing suite at around noon and broke my water after no dialation. gave me a shot of nubain (SP??). i felt like i was soooo drunk. but i didnt feel any pain. the anesthesiologist came in and gave me the epidural. that wasnt painful either. gave me some pitocin to help speed things along. at around 130 i was 6cms then after enjoyiing some family time in the room, i got the sudden urge to poop. (sorry, but thats the EXACT way it felt.) i told the nurse. she checked me and when she pulled her glove out, she said ` dont move, the babys head is right there` they paged the doc, everyone started running around getting ready. they hiked me up, gave me another shot of morphine. told me when to push and i did. after about only 4 or 5 painless pushes, my beautiful baby girl was in my arms. none of the nurses had seen such a nice delivey in a long time. the hubby thought it was a little scary but now appreciates being there for that beautiful moment.
