Jose-Issac`s birthstory
I started early labor on Saturday 12/26/09, my sister had come into town and was staying at my house. I didn`t want to say anything because I already had two false alarms. Around 2:00 am the contractions were at a steady 4 min apart and were getting more and more painful. I told my husband that we needed to go into L&D. My sister and her husband volunteered to stay with my nine year old son. The L&D was only about 15 min from my house, but during that time my contractions went from every 4 min to every 2 min and were quite painful. They got me admitted and my mom got there around 3 am. I was only dialated to a 4 but the contractions were so painful that I was crying through them and could not relax. They said that it would probably take a while to get the epidural because they had to do the lab work first, so they gave me some pain medication through the iv. The iv medication barely took the pain away, finally the epiduaral came. Man was I never so happy. The epidural was not placed correctly the first time because there was blood in the catheder, so she had to do it again. Once it was done I was finally comfortable. Then they started loosing Jose`s heartbeat so I was given oxygen and had to turn from side to side. At some point the nurse said that I was a 10 but the head was still at -2. She gave me somemore epi and then they dr came in. My b;ood pressure had dropped and the were still loosing Jose`s heartbeat. She got the vacuum and said we have to get him out now. I started pushing while she used the vacuum. The vacuum came off three times, but finally he came out. She pulled him out the rest of the way. He had a hue bump on his head from the vacuum, it went away quickly. The dr then pulled out the placenta because it had separated from the wall. That was the main problem, plus the baby was too big for me. I tore a little and was extremely swollen. My husband did not get to cut the cord, but everything turned out fine. We we dismissed on Tuesday and went home. Soon I developed a bad headache that would not go away unless I slept. Turns out that the clot on the spinal cord that forms after the epi removed itself so I had to go to the er for a blood patch. This was not much fun. But I am feeling much better now and have a wonderful son to show for all the pain!
