Birth details

Original due date: 31.08.2008
Type of delivery: Vaginal (with pain relief)
Duration of labor: 6 hours
Weight @ birth: 7lb 11oz
Length @ birth: 19 1/2 inches

I was admitted for induction due to high blood pressure at 6.00am on 27.08.2008. My membranes were ruptured at 7.00am which proved more difficult than the doctor originally thought and resulted in lacerations to Grayson's face which are now thankfully healing well. I opted for an epidural as I knew the induction would result in an intense and painful labour. The drip was started first to get some contractions underway to bring Grayson's head down further engaged, then the epidural was administered. The active and intense onset of the 1st stage of labour started at about 11.00am and the 2nd stage of pushing took only 2 minutes for Grayson to be delivered at 1.01pm. He had the cord around his neck and I suffered a 2nd degree tear, but required no stitches. He is totally gorgeous, and has what appears to be a little port wine birth mark, or a kiss from God as we like to call it, on his nose, which we will see the paed for again in 6 weeks, but it just makes us love him even more. We were home 48 hours later and are doing well, the breastfeeding is challenging but I think we are getting there. We are all hopelessly in love with him, I have fallen in love with my husband all over again, the kids are in trouble for fighting over Grayson and kissing him too much, the house is upside down and so are our lives, all due to our beautiful baby boy and we couldnt be happier or more complete.
