Ryder-James`s birthstory

I woke with contractions at 1:30 a.m. that were very strong, but still 4 minutes apart. By 2:45 a.m. they were 3 minutes apart, so I woke David up and we headed to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 3:45 a.m., and they brought me to the Labor/Delivery room and hooked me up to the monitors, saying they would probably send me after an hour to walk, etc. to `get things going`. My contractions got progressively stronger, and honey and my sister helped me breathe through them while waiting on my mom to make it. They called my OB, who came to the hospital at about 5:30 a.m. and broke my water and said I was still only 3 cm dialated. At about 5:50 a.m., I looked at my sister and David and said `Am I supposed to feel like pushing yet? Because I feel like I`m gonna poop all over this table.` My sister went for a nurse, who came flying in to check me, and who frantically sent for the doctor and looked at me and said `Honey, he`s coming, and there`s nothing we can do to slow him down, you`re 8 cm and there`s no time for medication of any kind.` (Nothing like a little panic) By now I`m crying through contractions, trying to breathe and NOT push, still watching for mom, who just squeaked by the nurses to make it to the room in time, and the Dr. makes it back. Then begins the pushing - the urge of which comes naturally, but wow is it hard to push with your butt and NOT your face! Less than 30 minutes later, after lots of peek-a-boo action from Ryder, my OB did an episiotomy (which I didn`t realize until she was stitching after the birth) and out he came, onto my tummy while Daddy cut the cord. He looked at me, alert as can be and I fell in love, REAL love...Perfect with a head full of hair and ready for nursing, which we did, in delivery - how amazing of an experience - so gratifying on so many levels...Wow, I still can`t believe we created something so amazing as this beautiful baby boy...Finally in life I feel so accomplished, so complete, and mommyhood is even more incredible than I ever imagined.
