I was scheduled to be induced on 5/14/08 at 7 am. I had been having contractions on and off for the last month. The dr. came in and checked me out and I was almost 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. They started me on pitocin at 9:00 am. Started getting consistent contractions about an hour later. Around 12:00 pm I got on the birthing ball and rocked back and forth. At that time, I started getting really good contractions. I asked my hubby to help me up from the ball as I needed to use the bathroom. As soon as I got off the birthing ball, I got another really strong contraction. I had to hold on to my hubby for support and then I thought I had peed my pants. My hubby looked down and it was blood. He helped me to the bathroom where I waited for the nurse there. All the while getting contractions. I asked for my epidural at that time and the nursed checked me and informed me I was 7 cm and 100% effaced. Once I got the epidural, I slept pretty good for about an hour or so. Finally the nurse checked me again as the dr was walking in and she said I was ready. The dr. broke my water and we started pushing. I had her out in 3 good pushes. It was amazing and since we didn't find out what we were having, when they told me it was a girl, I was in shock for about an hour. My husband and I both cried and we were just so happy. I did however have one of my employees walk in while I was delivering the placenta. That was a bit embarrassing. But other then that, it was a safe delivery and a wonderful experience.
