Hi everyone Chloe was born on 23rd September 2007 at 19.42. She weighed 6lbs and arrived after a very long and tiring labour.

Birth Story-
Chloe Megan Born on Sunday
23rd September 2007 at 19.42

After suffering weeks of pre labour pains and pressure from the baby's head being engaged I finally started to get proper contractions on Friday the 21st September although they were persistent they were not regular enough for me to go to hospital. Along with the contractions came a constant period type pain this lasted the whole of friday night and continued into saturday day. By saturday afternoon contractions were coming between 20 - 15 mins apart still not regular enough for hospital though i phoned the labour ward and they said to wait a bit longer until contractions were 5 mins apart. Saturday night they were between 7-10 mins apart and getting a lot stronger so I put on my Tens machine and tried my best to ignore them. At 12 am sunday morning contractions were so strong I couldnt sleep but they were still coming irregularly between 7 - 10 mins apart. I spent the whole night in agony with contractions i tried to sleep in between contractions but they were now coming between 5-7 mins apart. 7 am on the sunday morning I decided the pain was too much so I called labour ward again. They told me to go straight in and they would examine me. When I got to hospital they put me on the contraction monitor and they said that the contractions weren't consistent enough but they would do an internal anyhow to see how far I was. When they checked me I was told I was 6 cm and definitely in labour my waters also broke during the exam and as there was merconium in the water I had to be put under observation and put on a CTG monitor which continued to say my contractions weren't regular. I wasn't allowed to leave the bed the whole time which was hard. I started on Gas n Air and was apparently doing really well, at 11.40 apparently I became hysterical and asked for an epidural that I was dead against prior to labour lol. Once i got my bearings back i was on a drip and the epidural was in I dont remember them putting it in I got told I had OD' on gas n air and was breathing it contantly lol. So I lost a whole hour but was loads calmer by this point. By 2pm the epidural started failing on my right hand side due to fact I have scoliosis I was still only 7cm at this point so the got bloke back to top me up. this worked until 5 pm when again it started to fail I was 9 cm. He came back again and topped me up again by 6pm I was 10 cm but they wanted me to wait another hour before pushing so the head was further down and also so that a new member of staff could help me through the labour. 6.50 epidural started failing again they bought bloke back again he topped me up but this time it didn't help. 7pm came along with a new midwife the pain was unbearable at this point and she finally said I could push. So I pushed as hard as I could and the midwife was surprised at how fast I pushed the head out in total I pushed for 35 mins and baby chloe was born at 19.42. She weighed 6lbs and was 51 cm long. and spent the first hour in daddy's arms whilst I was being stitched up because I had torn. I had 5 stitches in total I got discharged on Monday the 24th to only be readmitted on Tuesday 25th after passing a rather large blood clot. When I arrived back at the hospital they realised that the baby wasn't feeding properly and that she had lost 5% of her body weight within 48 hours. So i was kept in hospital all week feeding still wasn't going well I finally got discharged again Sunday 30th September although the baby is still not feeding properly we are making progress I am determined to conquer the breast feeding. Overall Labour was really tiring and so is breastfeeding but I think we are making progress. Ill keep you all posted.

Finally mummy is stitched up so I can have a cuddle and a well deserved drink.

Chloe and Daddy just after birth waiting for mummy to get stitched up.

Being a baby is tiring work this is me sleeping next to mummy's bed.
