Maya-Elizabeth`s birthstory

Ok, so my first due date was september 29th, but my doc changed it to october 8th since the baby was measuring small. On Oct 9th I went in for what I hoped would be my last appointment. She stripped my membranes at 4 pm, and made me an induction date of october 16 (my birthday). Well, I didnt want to wait that long, so when I got home I went for like an hour walk up and down hills in my neighborhood. I came back, rested and ate for about an hour, then went back out for a half hour walk. At about 7 pm I started to feel small contractions. I knew this was it, but i didnt want to get my hopes up since I had contractions off and on for awhile. Around 11 they started getting worse, and I knew for sure I was in labor, but I wasnt about to go to the hospital to be sent home. So, I tried to ignore them, watch tv till about 1 am, then went to bed. Every 15 minutes or so I would get a contraction, then try to go back to sleep. Around 5 am I couldnt stay in bed any longer, and started pacing around the house. I cleaned everything up and did the dishes, since I knew we would be going to the hospital. I took a warm bath, then told my boyfriend it was time to go. We had to drive about 20 miles to the hospital, and got stuck in morning traffic, then a semi truck was blocking the hospital parking lot, so we had to find a different place to park. When I got there they hooked me up to see if I was far enough along to be admitted, and I was 4 cm dialated and almost completely effaced. They timed my contractions, and in about 30 mins they admitted me, at about 7:30 am. They had me walk around the 2nd floor to help me progress, then I went back in to the room. The nurse said to rest and at 11 they would break my water. At 11:30 some nurse came in, and broke my water, then it took about 15 mins for the contractions to start getting really bad. I wasn`t sure if I wanted an epidural, but when they asked me about 30 mins later, I said yes. The doctor came in about 30 mins after that, and gave me the epidural, right when I was having a contraction, it hurt so bad!! My boyfriend was calm the whole time we were there, but he started to get nervous right then, like it finally hit him. Once the epidural kicked in it was great, I could see on the monitor that I was having big contractions, but I couldnt feel them. The only bad thing about the epidural was that it slowed down labor alot. They checked me and I was only at 5 cm, so they started me on pitocin. The next few hours were great...then slowly I started to feel my contractions again. I thought it was since labor was getting more intense, but realized the epidural was wearing off. When it got to where I could feel alot of pain I told the nurse, and they gave me a button to press to incresase the dose, and trust me I pressed it, but it didnt work, So them my doc came in and checked me and I was at 8 cm, I was so excited! 30 mins later the nurse checked and I was a 10! She called the doc but she was busy, and all my nurses were really young and said they had never delivered a baby on their own before. I kinda got worried, but they said my doc would make it. I started doing practice pushes with them, and they called my doc when they could see the head. First thing I asked was does she have hair, and they said she has tons! When my doc came I started really pushing, and pushed for about 10 mins before she was out! My boyfriend was the best thing ever, he was so supportive and sweet. He held my leg up while I was pushing, and was coaching me better than the nurses. He was looking when her head came out, and cut the cord right when she was born. The nurse got a good pic of it. I had an episiotomy, and it was the worst thing about the birth. It didnt hurt when she did it, but I would be fully recovered right now if I didnt have that constant pain from the stitches. We named her Maya Elizabeth, and she was 7 lbs 4 oz, and 19 inches long.

10-17-07

Today we went in for a 1 week checkup, since Maya had jaundice when she left the hospital. Her level was 9.6 so it wasnt really bad. The doc said that she looks so much better than she didn't even take a blood test, just to put her in the sunlight for the next few days and the little thats left will clear. When they weighed her, she had gained 10 ounces since she left the hospital! She now weighs 7 lbs 9 oz! She is still 19 inches though. Also, my dad came out to visit today from Maryland, so she got to see her grandpa for the first time!!

Today Maya lost her umbilical cord!! Her doc said she would have it for at least another week, but I found in on the floor this morning lol. Shes been eating so much lately, and seems to be getting bigger everyday! Shes turned noctural the last few nights, and stays up all night unless I sleep on the couch with her. I guess since she sleeps there all day shes used to it and likes it better there. It was my birthday on the 16th, and my boyfriend asked me what I wanted, and I want to get family pictures taken with her. So within the next few weeks we are gonna go, I just want to wait til shes a bit older to start taking her out of the house.

My name is Krystal, and Im now 11 weeks pregnant. I found out when I was around 6 weeks. This will be my first, but I had one miscarriage a litte over a year ago, at about 9 weeks. I feel much better about this pregnancy, the first one I had no morning sickness or tiredness, only a few positive tests. Now I am just getting over my all day sickness, but am very tired very sore, and my bras dont fit, and pants are getting close! I am getting my ultrasound in about a week or two, and I am very excited!!!

I have the best boyfriend ever, we have been together about 3 years now. I moved in with him and his family when I was 16, and now we have our apartment and are expecting our first baby! He was the first person I told, right before my best friend and my mom. He was shocked at first, because we are so young, but now he is as excited as I am. I still havent told my dad, but hopefully I will soon, we are just waiting to tell everyone else once I have my ultrasound!

Today I had my first ultrasound! They said my due date was correct, the baby measured 11 weeks. My boyfriend wasn't gonna be able to leave work to make it, but he suprised me and showed up!! We got a picture printed, my boyfriend will upload it and have it posted in a bit! They also said they were testing my hCg levels but didnt give me any numbers. I have my check up in 3 weeks!!

Ok, so yesterday was really one of the worst days of my life! I was on my way to school in the morning, and when I was exiting off the freeway the exit was REALLY backed up. I had to stop really quick, but stopped behind the car in front of me. Then seconds later the car behind me smashed into the back of me, pushing me into the car in front of me. I was scared to death. The guy in front of me got out of his car to check up on us, everyone was OK. Then we pulled off the exit into a small parking lot. An ambulance came and some police cars, but they left pretty quickly except for one policeman taking statements. I was on the phone with my mom when I crashed, and my phone had hung up on her. She called my boyfriend crying and he came looking for me . My back and neck hurt, but all I could think about was my baby. My boyfriend came and after we were done with all the statements and insurance stuff (my boyfriend is my insurance agent) he took me to the hospital, because my doctors office wouldnt see me until I got checked up on at the hospital. As if a car crash wasnt bad enough, I was in the emergency waiting room then in my own room in the emergency area for almost 11 hours waiting! I was cranky, my back hurt, and I was starving, and they kept telling us "30 more minutes" and "your up next" the whole time, so I was scared if my boyfriend left to get food they would take me in without him. We got there at about 11 am, and they gave me a room at 4:30, the doctor saw me at 6, I got an ultrasound at 8, and we left around 9:30! They said I had whiplash and my neck and back were messed up, but the ultrasound showed everything was ok with the baby! The ultrasound technician told me she had to check some stuff before she could show me the baby, which freaked me out, and I waited for 15 mins while she checked and measured stuff on the ultrasound, I just wanted to know if everything was ok! Finally she showed me and the baby was so much bigger than our last ultrasound, even though its only been a few weeks. She says it measures around 13 weeks, plus or minus a few days, which is what my due date says, about 13 weeks 4 days. Then she showed us the heart and how it was beating strong, I was so relieved! I have an appointment scheduled with my doctor on monday, but they said everything is fine, unless I start cramping really bad or bleeding. So thank god everything is ok, Im taking a few days off work and school to rest, and next week is spring break so im looking forward to all the rest! =)

Oh yeah and I almost forgot! After I got out of the hospital my dad met me, my boyfriend, and my boyfriends brother for dinner (because we were starving!!) and I finally told him.........it really didnt go that well. Everyone else has been so happy for us, but he was kinda upset. I was really disappointed. =/ He stayed quiet, then lectured us about being too young, and how now I wont finish school, and we should have planned for school and not a baby. (its not like we planned my pregnancy) The way he was talking was really negative, so i told him its not like i can take it back now, im already pregnant, and everyone else was happy for me. He just was quiet some more, then said he had to go, and him and my brother left. Wow, I dont really know how worse it could have gone, but at least I can start telling people now and not worry about it getting back to my dad. At least I have my perfect boyfriend, who took care of me all day and handled everything with my car, I dont know what I would do without him!

Well today I went in for my doctors appointment, it was my first meeting with my new doctor. She was great! Very nice and gave me alot more info than my last one. I heard the babys heartbeat for the first time! She said it was perfect, very strong. She said she could also hear alot of movements. Kind of disappointed though because she didnt do an ultrasound, she is sending me to their other office in two weeks, she said the ones that they do there in the office are alot more formal than the one i got for my first one. She also took my blood again, and said that i can do a test for down syndrome and other defects with no risk to the baby. I didnt know they could do that, i had only heard of an amniocentesis. Oh well, anyway, i agreed, so on my next visit on the 23 of May i will find out if theres any risk. Also, everything else is going great, my dad has calmed down alot, and isnt upset anymore, but he said he doesnt know if he can tell his parents and sisters when hes out visiting them this week. If he doesnt oh well.

My mom is already planning my baby shower for the end of august, and she is buying us the crib we want! Im so excited! My morning sickness is almost all the way gone, and im starting to get a small belly! It sure doesnt look like 17 weeks, but at least you can kinda tell im pregnant.

Schools over in less than a month, im so looking forward to the break! Hopefully on my next ultrasound they will know if its a boy or a girl! I still havent really thought of any names! Girl names i think are alot easier, the only boy name i like is Rafael after my boyfriend, but hes says theres too many in his family already! =( oh well! let me know if you have any suggestions!

I feel so much bigger than my last pics, i will put some new ones up! Well my dad got back from back east today, and he told me he told all our family out there! Im really surprised since he told me he wasnt gonna! Also, I was working on a project for school today, and i had to saw a piece of wood, after i was done i laid back to rest, and i felt the baby kick pretty hard. My boyfriend said that it was trying to tell me to knock it off cuz it was getting annoyed of me sawing the wood..LOL i had felt movement before, but only if i concentrated and left my hand on my stomach. Its really exciting feeling kicks now, i just hope my boyfriend is home from work and can feel next time! =)

Ok well I am online looking for the perfect crib =) but i cant seem to find the right one, well at least thats in my price range. Anyway, i get a call a little while ago saying that i have to retake my AFP test because it was contaminated. Im not really surprised....when they were taking my blood they missed the vein 3 times and were moving the needle all around under my skin trying to find the vein. It hurt so bad....i hope the same girl doesnt draw my blood when i go back today to get my blood redrawn.

Today was my 20 week ultrasound! Doctor said everything is normal, baby is healthy! When he checked to see the sex he told us that the umbilical cord was in the way, but he moved the thing around some more and said that he was going out on a limb and saying it was a GIRL! =) He said he didnt see anything between its legs so he assumes it is, but it is not 100%. I really hope hes right, but he didnt seem very confident.....so now im kinda worried. I wanna know for sure so I dont buy stuff and then have to return it. Tomorrow im gonna call and get an appointment for a 3-D ultrasound so we can know for sure! Heres the pic they gave me..its a little blurry, im getting it scanned tomorrow. =)

Called the 3D ultrasound office and have an appointment scheduled for 1:30 on Saturday! =) My baby moves all the time now....there is rarely a time of day i dont feel her ! Her dad got to feel her the other night for the first time. She gave a little kick and he said he barely felt it, but was shocked that he finally did! I just cant wait til he can feel her kick for real =)

Ok so we went to my 4D ultrasound appt this weekend and it went really well. We had 3 kids with us, y boyfriends 2 little brothers who we have on the weekends (13 and 7) and the special needs boy we take care of, (hes 8). We drove an hour to get there, and were a bit late because we were stuck in traffic. We got there, and the only part i wasnt happy about was that the discount they stated on the website didnt count on the weekends....but we still got the same package since we drive that far for it. They got us in right away, and the room had 2 couches and a big screen TV to watch it on, instead of trying to see it all on that little screen. Well at first she said the baby was very active, but after about 5 mins ( out of a 25 min ultrasound) she calmed down. The tech said she was hiding in the placenta and we were trying to move her around but she wasnt having it. We got plenty of profile shots though. OK the whole thing was really funny, and it seems my baby already has such a personality. We have the whole thing on DVD too, and she has her hands over her ears the whole time, trying to hide her face into the placenta. We are trying to move her, and get her to move around, but she didnt want to. Then like 15 mins into it, she turns to face us, gives a big smile, then covers her ears again and turns around lol. Like she was telling us here, is this what you want? Then going back to sleep. lol it was the cutest thing! Also, she already looks just like her daddy, same profile exactly!

I just had my doctors appointment, and she said that my AFP test came back normal! =) Then she went over the ultrasound results and said that she might set back my due date to Oct 8, because the baby is really small. But then she said halfway through the pregnancy isnt the best time to be checking the due date....so sometime between Sept 29 and Oct 8 is my due date. lol. I dont really mind I think id rather have an october baby because my bday is in october too! But im not gonna count on it because my boyfriend is really small and im not that big either, so im not expecting a huge baby. Oh well, hardly any babies actually come on their due dates anyway. As long as shes healthy im happy! Oh and one more thing.....ive gained 10 pounds! Im sure most of it is in my boobs, cuz i sure dont have 10 lbs of a belly! lol im gonna put a pic up, see what ya think! Oh and she said at the time of my ultrasound (at 20 weeks) my baby was 10 oz. Is that normal?

I got my crib today! I have to wait for my boyfriend to get home from his soccer game before we can put it together. My mom got it for me off our babies r us registry, and also got us the mattress! Im excited to get everything ready, as we havent really started anything yet. We cant get a 2 bedroom apartment until weve been in this one for a year, which ends in november. It kinda sucks, but i realized the baby will be in our room the first few months anyway, so it doesnt really matter, we will just have to find a way to organize all the new baby stuff until we can move. Other than that.....everything is going great! My little girl kicks ALL the time, especially in the middle of the night. She kicks me in the bladder alot lately, but i can move her and she will start kicking the side again. I have a Dr. appt next wednesday, so I will update you on that. I think i dont have to take the glucose test next week, but in two after that. Yuk. not looking forward to it.

Got the crib set up! I love it. Its perfect! Just cant wait to get the bedding! Heres my latest picture!! I have tripled in size!

Ok.... so everything has been going good....just normal aches and pains.. but today I went to work for a few hours...got off early and was driving home. I was getting off the freeway, and stopped at a red light, when the guy getting off behind me didnt stop and rear ended me. He was in a big roadrunner shuttle. I cant believe my luck. I hadnt been in a car accident my whole life.....and now 3 since ive gotten pregnant. Everyone always tells me how tough my little girl is gonna be! My car was fine, just the bumper is going to need to be replaced. My neck hurt a bit....I might have to start going to the chiropractor again. I called my boyfriend, who is my insurance agent too, and he came right away. I got everything handled with the guy who hit me, and then went home. I was on the phone with my mom, and she said i should see my doctor just to check the baby and see if everything is ok. My doctor wasnt there today, so they told me to come to the urgent care. When we got there they told me they dont have any of the equipment to check on the baby, and we had to go to the hospital to labor and delivery. So we had to drive to Ventura 20 mins away, and on the way i started to feel some cramps and tightening. I was so scared! We got there and I was admitted right away, and they monitored me for 3 hours then said i could go home and rest. Im just glad everything is OK. =) Also cant wait for my baby shower next weekend =) my mom is coming on Friday! =)

10-3-07

4 days past due! I feel huge! Yesterday I saw my doc, and she said she will strip my membranes next tuesday if I dont have the baby by then. If that doesnt work then she will induce me. =( She said i was 2-3 cm dilated, and 50 % effaced, so at least im progressing. When I got home last night from my appt, I noticed some bleeding, then finally lost my mucous plug! Hopefully I have this baby soon!
