Xavier's Birth Story

On Thursday Aug 27th I woke up at 4am with some mild cramping, when I got up to use the restroom I notice my mucus plug had just came out. I didn't think to much of it and thought to myself that it can take days or even weeks until I go into labor, so then I laid back down and fell asleep. That morning I got up for work around 6:30am when I went to the restroom I notice I had light pink blood on the tissue, I was still getting mild cramping but decided to still go into work. I went to work from 8am til 5pm, nothing seemed different and I felt fine the whole day. I was getting contractions here and there but they felt like normal BH contractions, and it wasn't anything that I couldn't handle. I came home from work that day to a clean house, BD was so nervous & assumed that I would have this baby soon....I kept telling him not to worry about anything and we would just clean the rest of the house tomorrow when I got off work. For some reason he just had a gut feeling that we didnt have time to wait until the next day....he told me "there might not be a tomorrow" & I just looked at him and smiled :) We ate dinner, watched tv & before I laid down I had a big bowl of cookies n cream ice cream. Around 10:30pm that night I was barley starting to fall asleep, when I felt & heard like a POP noise along with some mild cramping..then all of a sudden I felt like a warm gush. I jumped out of bed and said " I think my water just broke" as soon as you know it Im walking to the bathroom and a big gush of water came out before I was able to make it to the toilet. BD jumped out of bed and looked at me...all he can say was " are you okay"? LOL.Poor guy, didn't know what to do.. so he stated getting the bag ready and called his mom to let her know that my water had just broke. After that gush stoped coming out I went to the bathroom sat on the toilet and felt another gush come out..this happend like 3 times!!! This whole time I was so clam and ddint feel any contractions at all. I called the hospital, let them know that my water just broked and they told me to come in. BD drives me to the hospital, which was like 20 mis away....both of us being so clam & talked the whole way there..it just didnt seem real yet. We got to the hospital around 11:30pm and they put me in an observation room and hooked me up to something to check the babies heart beat & monitor my contractions. They also had me give a urine sample, which they found what seemed to have 1% protine in it..which isnt a good thing. they werent sure if this was showing up that I had protine in my urine because my waters was still coming out and it was getting mixed in with the urine sample I gave them. So they told me they were going to have to stick a catheter in me and get a urnie sample that way...BOY did that hurt!! haha. Time was flying by and everything was going good, my contractions were getting a lil stronger n strongerr as the night was turing into the moring...I wanted to wait as long as I could before I got any epi. Around 7am friday morning the pain was so bad that I had finally decided to get the epi, I then ask them to check me & see what I was dialated to..the midwife comes in and says I'm at 4-5cm ....OMG!! At this point the epi has kicked in and I was no longer able to feel or lift my legs up, it was such a weird feeling. I was able to relax a lil, I think I even feel asleep for a bit. After this, all I remember is the midwife coming in again to check me and see what I was at...she says YAY your fully dialated, your ready to push!! My heart droped, I didnt even feel any pressure what so ever, It still didnt seem real, I felt like crying knowing that I was going to meet my baby boy soon :) We had one problem though......BD just happen to be down stairs getting something to eat....ahhhh, we tried calling him & he wasnt getting any reception. I had to have my sister run down stairs to call him and his mom..I was NOT going to start pushing until I saw his face in that room. LOL. As soon as you know it, he walks in the room..PHEW, I was ready to start pushing. The midwife was getting everything set up and as soon as you know it they ask me to put my legs up, they were so heavy i couldn't even move them...BD and my Mom had to hold them up for me. The midwife then told me that we were gonna try doing some practice pushes before we do the real ones, I did 3 practice pushes and she said okay, your ready...the contractions come and they have me start pushing, I did 2 sets of pushing & no longer then 10 mins of pushing my baby boy was out...lying on my chest :) I couldnt help but to cry....just holding him in my arms, I couldnt believe that my son was finally here...My baby boy, the one who I carried in me for 9 months was finally here. He is so PERFECT!! and let me tell you...it was all worth it, I would do it over and over again if I had to, he stole my heart. words cant explain how much love I have for him. Xavier Antonio Casados was born on Friday Aug 28th at 12:01pm...he weighed 7lbs 1oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. & even though he was 2 1/2 weeks early he is a healthy baby. I thank God that everything went well and more then thankful that he blessed me with a healthy baby boy :)
