He was over due so my doc set up an induction date of 5/5 (due on the 1st) I was to go in on Monday night at 8 p.m. to have a cervidil put in (string of medication placed on the cervix to help soften/dialate) Lloyd and I got to the hospital right on time (I was off that day and preparing like crazy!) and were immediately checked into our labor and delivery room. It was very nice, the room had dim lights and was large. We settled in and about 2 1/2 hours later one of the resident doctors came in to put in the cervidil. When they hooked me up they saw that I was already having painless contractions that were lasting 80 seconds every 15 minuets. Once they put in the medicine I started feeling my contractions ( I knew I would cuz they had tried the gel on my cervix about a week earlier and all it did was make me have ineffective contractions for 8 hours!) With the painful IV in my hand, two monitors strapped around my belly and the contractions I was quite miserable! Not to mention I literally had to pee every 20 mins so I had to unhook the monitors, drag my iv across the room to the toliet! They gave me two ambien to help me sleep but that did a whole lot of nothing. I managed to get a few hours in after they gave me a pain pill.
