Kara`s birthstory

Well i reached 41 weeks 4 days, 11 days overdue!!! I was taken in to hospital to be induced on thursday 2nd oct 08, at 3.30pm i was give Prostin vaginal tablet, had to stay in bed for half an hour to let the tab disolve.

Well come 8pm just after my visitors left i started having contractions 6-7 mins apart, these continued to be regular and strong until about 11pm when i was examined and told i was only 2cm dilated, so keith was asked to go home as partners arent allowed to stay in the ward unless you are in labour.

By 12.30am my contractions were coming every minute, so i called for a midwife, they decided to transfer me to the labour unit, by the time i got there i had no rest in between contractions, keith arrived soon after.

I was told i couldnt have an epidural as the anaethitist was stuck in theatre, so i decided to try the gas and air ( CRAP!!!) Eventually the anaethitist arrived about 3.30am and gave me the epidural( glorious!!) I was given an internal just before he arrived and i was only 5 cm dilated but the midwife could feel her head, the epidural took the usual effect numbness and it weakend and slowed my contractions down, but baby wanted out so with every contraction i had she pushed her way down, by 8.15 am i was full dialated and ready to go, we decided to start pushing in an hours time to give the epidural some time to wear off so i had some sensation down below, so at 9.45 i pushed , and after 11 more pushed our little princess arrived at 10.12am!! I didnt need stitches etc everything went perfect!!

I had a very easy labour but the contractions were a killer due to being induced!!

Keith was amazing through-out the whole thing, he cried like a big baby when he saw her, which then made me cry!!
