I went in on thursday the 19th at 8:30 pm to the hospital because i was getting induced the next morning. That night about 10:30 they gave me this medicine to help efface my cervix and then a sleeping pill so i could actually sleep. The next morning i woke up about 8 and called my mom and had her come to the hospital(my fiancee was already there he stayed the night with me). It took until 11:15 for my dr to come in and check me because i wasnt as far effaced or dialated as they wanted for me to start pitocin. So he broke my water at 11:20 and then almost immediatly my contractions picked up so they held off on the pitocin too see if i would progress on my own, and i did. A few hours later i asked for my epidural since my contractions were really bad, and they only were about a minute apart. The epiduaral did nothing but numb my legs because all my contractions were in my back, so after about an hour of pushing the button to give me more medicine in the epidural i gave up pushing it since it was totally usless anyway. They nurse tried to help me by giving me a shot to slow down labor, it didnt slow it down at all. about 4:30 i started feeling like i had to push, so i told the nurse and she checked me and i had about a half inch of my cervix that hadnt moved so she told me not to push because it would rip my cervix, so i waited. An hour later i still wasnt allowed to push, and the babys heart rate started dropping so she gave me another shot in hopes to slow down my labor, again it did nothing. SO by this time im on no pain medicine even though my legs are still a little numb(and my right one still is now, almost a month later) and im telling the nurse that its happening i REALLY REALLY need to push, so she checked, and sadly my cervix was still there so she told me to breathe through it. A little over a whole hour later, i am swearing that the child is coming out on her own without any help but me. SO she checked and then called the dr, he comes in about 6:40pm and then they get everything ready and then tell me since her heart rate is still low they need to get her out in 2 pushes, so they need to use forceps, because if they dont she might not survive delivery. So i had an episiotomy so the forceps would fit, and i started to push, halfway through my first push i stopped(Accidently) because i tore and i felt it and it hurt so bad because it went just about straight up. I did get her out in 2 pushes and as soon as she was out it was very clear why her heart rate was dropping, she was holding onto her cord. So they cleaned her up and handed her to her dad, i couldnt hold her because they couldnt get the bleeding to stop and when they finally did i needed a bunch of stiches. Almost an hour after i had her i was able to finally hold my daughter. Then everyone came in, my dad and brother, and my future father and sister in law, my mom and future mother in law were already in there.
She was healthy and even though she was squeezing her cord she got a 9 apgar score. Me on the other hand had some issues, 2 days after having her i had to get a blood transfusion, and then i got to go home that night. The next day i had to return to the hospital because the left side of my body went numb, i had a CT, MRI and ultrasound of my arterys and heart, the only thing they could figure out was my blood pressure was a little high(which is why i got induced in the first place) and the my potassium level was extrememly low.
Everything now is great, shes healthy im healthy, and i can believe shes almost a month old!!
