~NyMom - Tuesday, 12 August Hi Bri! how do you do the oatmeal thing? you did say a cup of oatmeal..can it be any kind of oatmeal.. I know it can't be instant.. and a cup of water..let it sit for 7 hours..can it go longer.. let's say I do it for over night can it sit in the fridge or the counter top? and after it has sat do you have to add more water to heat it up? do you heat it up?lol I am full of questions.. please message me back with the recipe I want to save it for future use just in case.. Oh I tried the cookies and they work!
mommad - Tuesday, 12 August Thanks for your reply about the supply/demand. I'm trying to store for when I go back to work in Oct. A friend of mine told me to start early. Right now I'm just pumping when she takes her long nap during the day and at night. Maybe I'll get enough by Oct to get me started..
babyboysmama - Monday, 11 August Also, when did Kekoa start solid foods? I was thinking maybe my supply slowing down was a sign that I should start more solids? Mayson is 4 months and has been on cereal for a month and a half now...the first 4 weeks he got it once a day, now he has cereal at both of his daytime feedings with his nanny.
babyboysmama - Monday, 11 August Thanks Bri- I'm really praying that I will not have to supplement, but unfortunately I dont' have milk saved up in the freezer. Today I pumped at 10 and 2 and only got 7 oz. I was getting 6 oz per pump session so 12 oz. per day. It seems like my supply had dried up a bit the past week...is there anything I could be doing or eating that is causing it to slow down? i know you have been breastfeeding for what 9 or 10 months now, so I really appreciate your help
jenn80 - Monday, 11 August I saw on the ear infection page that your little one has had 5 infections? Did they mention tubes? Cause Taylor has had about 5 and they want to pit tubes in. I'm just not sure if that would be the best thing because her Doctor said that the tubes wont stop infection, I was like then why the heck are we putting her through surgery again? Anyway, did you have tubes put in Kekoa's ears?
pugdunn - Monday, 11 August I used the cup with the straw for my son when he was about 9 months old ... it worked for him and I was still able to breastfeed him for 4 more months.
apilalas - Saturday, 9 August your breast milk will be fine with some blood in it, i asked my ped that when my daughter was first born because when i first started to pump my nipples cracked and bled alot, he said its fine the only thing is the baby will have a different color stool thats about it.
munkobaby - Thursday, 7 August I hope this short message finds you well. I am sorry that I have been unable to respond more frequently this past week. I am frantically trying to get this big family of mine ready for a road trip. We will be on vacation starting tomorrow thru the 15th. I promise to get right back to people once we have unpacked the family van. Love you all. xoxoj
Samilynn - Thursday, 7 August well never mind i just now figured it out my mom helped me
Samilynn - Thursday, 7 August hi im new at this just wonderin if you could help me?
niseybear - Thursday, 7 August To those of you who responded, thank you, your support is greatly appreciated. In answer to the couple of questions: I only have to fast from sundown Saturday to sundown Sunday, I've done it before, I'm just not "feeling" it this time. I have to have my head covered at all times in public. In my household or in a household that is women only, I can take it off. And to Tess42~~AMEN! I will NOT be bothered either with a religion just lets me be. I also appreciate all the comments on Mo, he is such a sweet baby! Even though he refuses to stay down for his second nap at the moment! All you ladies are great! Thank you and again be blessed!
Mom2Dom - Wednesday, 6 August Thanks for the advice. I know he is teething...overall, he just doesnt seem as hungry as usual lately. I will keep trying though :)
I am not well. Physically I'm fine, even though I haven't had a period in 3 months. I am spotting so to speak and saw some red today, but no real period, and of course I'm not pregnant. I would WELL be showing now if I was. So anyway, spiritually and emotionally I'm beaten. It's hard living the lifestyle hubby and I live without a community. Meredthy0315 knows what I speak of because she lives the lifestyle too. I have a day coming up where I have to fast, no choice, and I really don't want to nor do I care what happens if I don't. I eat kosher and for the last week or so, all I've wanted to do is walk into a fast food place and order whatever I want. There are no kosher restaurants in our area so hubby and I stopped eating out 3 years ago. I keep my head covered as most of the observant woman who follow Judaism do and lately I've been walking outside to put my clothes in the laundry without my head covered. Granted it's out the side door where I can't be seen, but when I exit my house, I'm go cover my head in case a man walks by. I'M TIRED LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it wasn't for Mo, I would have kicked it a looooooooooooong time ago, but my son deserves better and so does my hubby. I start school in 2 weeks and I'm ready and excited, but I'm to the point where I'm beginning to not care again. I want to be where the others living the lifestyle I'm living, someone I can call or go see when I'm having problems, go eat in a kosher restaurant whenever I want to, take my son out for his first kosher meal when he starts eating "real" food , and being able to spend time with others who understand. No I'm not Jewish, but I live the lifestyle and my friend who is Jewish tells me that Charles and I are more Jewish than some of her friends born that way because of how we live. I hear it will get better, but when?????!!!!! I just want to feel better.
Other than that, Mo is VERY well! He hates chicken though! Tried it today and for the first time he gagged and then spit it out each time I gave it to him. We'll try again at nine months, it'll hold in the freezer for 10 weeks.
Thanks for being there my friends! Be blessed!
niseybear - Friday, 1 August New pictures of Mo and a new update. Take care my friends!
Ema uk - Friday, 1 August hiya..just read your comment on the breastfeeding page...Just wanted to let you know..my son went through the same phase at around 8-9months old..he drew blood too..he'll be a year old in August..and i'm still breastfeeding him...He acctually though it was funny to bite me..lol..To stop him biting my nipple you just have to keep an eye on them..as soon as they get that look on there face when there going to bite..detach them...say No...and place them on the floor..and ignore them for a moment..he'll cry and make a fuss...but don't give in...don't leave him long..about 10 seconds and then try again...everytime he goes to bite or bites you do this..he'll soon get the idea that biting means him not getting what he wants..(which is normally attention..lol) ..it worked for me..and a few others (I go to breastfeeding group)..he doesn't bite my nipple anymore..but just recently he has started biting my knee..and legs..and clothes...his back Teeth are coming through and I think that's the main reason..but he finds it funny if I make a sound ..like an "Ouch"...I have found that it's getting alot better because i've been telling him "No"..giving him a stern face...and that usually works...if it doesn't..the next time I tell him "No"..and I stand up and turn my back on him..or if someone else is in the room I leave the room for a minute..he hasn't biten in a while now...so I'm pretty sure it's working..lol..hope this helps...good luck..and keep me posted...he's gorgeouse btw..Xx
singinghide - Tuesday, 29 July Really? Awww man. What do you scars look like? Or are the scars just the little red dots? I have those too. Man, I delivered almost a week ago, and the rash has only intensified and spread over this week. I am on oral steroids, but not really sure if they are working. I'm just more concerned, though, about scars and all that. That my skin will always be puffy, red, whelted, etc... Any encouragement would be awesome! I'd love to hear your story!!!
OurBabyJoseph - Tuesday, 29 July He is doing as good as can be expected. With a preemie his age, it is so hard to tell what the next day is going to bring. I started a blog page - address is http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/josephjeffreyscott I update it when I can, and there are pictures from this past weekend with him. I think that is the hardest part. It isn't like I can drive 10 minutes to see him, he is 2 hours away from me. The doctor's and nurse's welcome phone calls 24-7, so that is good for reassurance. Is it October yet? I just want to bring home my little bundle of joy. Thank you for caring. Hugs back atcha!
boymom - Friday, 25 July oh yeah... I forgot to tell you that we were out for 10 days with that storm. We have a wood stove and a generator, though so it was like a cross between camping and being at home LOL. We just use it as as excuse to stay home. I took leave w/o pay from work due to weather conditions for 2 or 3 days and had no problems from them with that.
boymom - Friday, 25 July Bri - I read about your condo woes. I know where we live is a commute, but the house next door to us is for rent :0) The owners are going to teach abroad for 2 years and wern't quite ready to sell since they don't know their plans for after that. They said that there are a lot more houses up for rent because things are not selling. Anyway, the property is being managed by Cornerstone Property Management 425 788 3414, Mary Babak. I have no idea what they want for it or anything, but we do have beach rights and a wonderful lake to walk around... http://www.irwinrealestate.us/Nav.aspx/Page=%2fPageManager%2fDefault.aspx%2fPageID%3d2004667 They may have other properties for rent/lease too that might be a better deal for the winter than where you are.
boymom - Thursday, 24 July oops. sorry about the wrong date...it was really late, I was waiting for my 17 year old to come home, I prolly read it wrong :) Redmond is close! I live between Carnation and Duvall. I come to Redmond all the time since we only have a Safeway, QFC and not much else out here
boymom - Thursday, 24 July I have been reading the 8 month posts and realized that you live in western washington too. I have an 8 month old, but another one of my kids was born on the 4th of July too. He didn't realize that the fireworks and parade weren't for his birthday until he was almost 5! LOL! Adorable pictures!
