I actually really enjoy going to work. I work Tue-Thur evenings and every other Sunday. So some weeks I have 4 days in a row off. I LOVE being with Mo, but the time with my buddies at Ruby's is nice AND my money is good so that helps too. I bought Mo some more clothes yesterday. We went shopping yesterday while they worked on the roof and I just can't resist the cute Carter outfits. Belk's ALWAYS has some AWESOME sale everytime I go and of course Walmart just ROCKS on their prices. I got two cute little outfits BOTH for $6! I thought about getting the Boulevard, but I believe it's too big for our car. The regent is our next purchase. It fits children up to 80 pounds and I want Mo in it as long as possible. Come to think about it, I should have just purchased that one to begin with. Would have saved ourselves $250.00 . Well, I'm learning and at least for the next one, we'll be prepared. I miss breastfeeding Mo....A LOT, but he just wasn't interested anymore and he was gumming...HARD...and it hurt, so I stopped. What a terrific experience though and I WILL do it with the next one. STILL waiting on our rebate check! The letter said it was supposed to arrive by the 5th, but who were they kidding. Hope to see it today or in the next couple. I know most people did receive their checks only a few days after the website said they were supposed to, so I can only hope. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I don't too much focus on it anymore. I've been that way for several years now. I'll buy myself something cool and that's it. I want Fiddler on the Roof and the Wiz, but can't find them where I want to purchase them. I may have to go to Barnes N Noble. I know they have one of them there. Have to pay a little more money there. I could just get it from Amazon and it'll arrive after my b-day and that will be okay too. Yea, Mo was eating on his puzzle yesterday, so I have to watch him or it won't last til he really knows what to do with it. I'll tell you what's cool though, when he would reach for a piece and not get a good hold it would fall back in and make the noise of the animal.....SO COOL! You have a good week too! Take care!

Hi Bri found the question and thought i post it for you!
NAME: Debbie
BABY'S NAME: Natalie
BABY'S AGE: 9 weeks
BABY'S PRESENT WEIGHT: 11 pounds
BABY'S BIRTH WEIGHT: 7 lbs, 8 oz

QUESTION: My milk goes rancid even when stored in heavy plastic in a stand-alone freezer. It smells like rancid nuts and tastes worse even after a few days. I pump into clean bottles using very clean pump parts and clean hands then transfer straight to the freezer. I've even tried scalding the milk before freezing and that didn't help. I'm back to work now and would like to save up a little extra milk for those growth spurts that we look forward to but haven't had any luck with storing. This happened with my first baby, also, but I didn't know until we weaned and I broke out my total frozen supply of three gallons and it was all rancid. I stood over the sink crying as I threw it all away. Please help! Thanks.

Dear Debbie,

Some women have more lipase in their milk than others. Lipase helps to break down the fat in the breastmilk. That is what is happening that is causing the milk to smell rancid. You obviously are one of these women. From the research I have done, the only suggestion I have read says to scald (not boil) the milk before freezing. I know you said you did this, but did you offer it to your baby? Many babies don't care about the taste change, yet others will. Scalding will not change the taste or odor, but it does make the milk OK to drink.

If that doesn't work, then the best think for you to do would be to stop freezing. Human milk is safe in a refrigerator up to 8 days. Don't ever think that you have wasted any milk because you have to pour it out. Expressing it helps to keep up your supply, so think of it as an investment instead! If you keep your supply up, then you shouldn't necessarily need any more than what you can store up during an 8-day period.

Two last thoughts--try freezing in glass bottles and storing in a freezer that does not have an automatic defrost cycle. It's thought that this automatic defrost cycle is part of the problem, so it would be worth experimenting with if you could find a friend with such a freezer. Good luck!

hey bri, i read a question answer on breastfeeding.com that says if your milk is bad when you freeze it.... to boil it first than freeze it.... weird B/C I thought boiling it would take all the good properities out of it. but there is an element in the milk that some women have more of and it causes it to go bad in the freezer and boiling can deplete this property... anyhow thought I'd pass that along... Read it on breastfeeding.com about (how long milk lasts.) oh yes... I got my period too you get so spoiled not having it for so long.

Mo turned 7 months on the 4th of July! Where the heck did the time go??? He's such a BIG boy now! Although we had trouble in the Walmart buggy today. Don't think mommy had his little belt placed correctly. He fell to the side twice, but luckily never hit his head. He's in his new Britax car seat and it's SO much easier getting him in and out. I wanted to buy myself something for my birthday on Friday, but Walmart didn't have the DVD I wanted so I purchased some more clothes for Mo. If I can't buy for me then I will ALWAYS buy for Mo. I got him a puzzle that makes sounds when you put the pieces back in. It's so neat. It's called Farm Animals Puzzle. Got it for $10 at BELK'S.
I hope all of you are well. Take care!

Hi,
My son had trouble latching too in the begining. He was born almost 6 weeks early. However he latches fine now , but I am back to work now and I do pump like 2 times like 15-20 min. at work and I nurse him at home. My supply has slowed down a great deal. I now worry he isn't getting enough! So much that I am giving him formula before bed w/ rice & 2 bottles of formula with the babysitter! He also prefers one side over the other so the right side has very little!! I also want to nurse til a year , at least 6 months. I just read your message, I was hopiong you could helpme out?!?

Just wanting to say hello to you all. I hope each of you are well. Mo is no longer in an infant carrier. We moved him to his big boy car seat this week and I LOVE it! It's a Britax Diplomat and it's one of the best investments we've made! I went to the Sheriff's office to have it checked out and was told to follow Britax's instruction on forward and rear facing. I'm going to be turning Mo around VERY soon. It says to do it when he's over 20 pounds. The officer told me at first to keep him rear facing as long as possible but when his assistant read the side of the car seat he said nevermind follow Britax's instructions, they know that they're talking about! Took Mo shopping at Walmart yesterday and for the first time he got to sit in the buggy in the front! WOW! Such a big boy!! He reached for everything on the shelves. Even got a loaf of bread down when mommy wasn't looking! I had one of the buggy covers in it and it has toys on there for him, but Mo was more interested in what was on the shelf.

Well, I hope all of you are good. I haven't received messages in about 3 days and I hope everything is okay.

Blessings to you all!

Denise

Thanks so much hun, I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I definatly don't want to be unprepared, and I feel I am still. I don't know if I'll ever really be ready to care for a baby, but I'll give it all I've got. I just want to do everything right. Thanks for the advice I'll remember that. I just see that people are writing on that page they're cleaning it with alcohol, and it confused me?? That's done real easialy lately, and I feel I'm loosing my mind....lol Thanks again hun and i"ll be sure to come to u with questions. Have a good weekend...

Hi. Thanks for the info about the milk drying out or re-supplying itself..and no I'm no longer breast feeding. I never was exclusivley, I was alternating with the breast milk and formula, but mostly supplimenting with formula..but every time I've noticed it being there I've tried to give him some as a 'snack' because I don't feel theres enough for a meal. And because he's so used to the bottle he barely latches on anymore.

Thanks, it was definitely a very scary month for me, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Your little one is very cute also and Kekoa is a cute name. I also read that you had PUPPPs rash on the PUPPPS page. I had PUPPPS rash toward the end of my pregnancy also--I begged for an induction at 39 1/2 weeks. I am very lucky that I got the rash later in pregnancy because Calvin needed to be full term for maximum health for the surgery, and we didn't know about his condition until 4 hours after he was born. My PUPPPS went away a day or so after delivery but then returned a few weeks later on the day I found out that the open heart surgery was to be a month earlier than I originally expected. It's not supposed to, but in doing research online, the rash looked exactly the same as PUPPPS and I definitely wanted to claw my skin right out.

Thanks for the tip about feeding, she drinks about 26 ounces most days, but she sure likes her cereal and sweet potatoes :) I might try to give her a little more tomorrow and just see if she keeps going. Thanks again!

Hi after reading your post on teh seven month board i just had to write you.... my baby girl wakes up frequently at night too... i've lost count!! but she's been getting better lately, after i started giving her one solid feed in the evenings, till now i only used to give her a solid meal in the mornings, since she was too little to take two meals a day. its helped tremendously!! now she only wakes up once. i can get more sleep and i thought i'd share this with you because i know what its like to be sleep-deprived! you're not alone!!!

Thanks so much for the info on breastfeeding/c-section. I was unable to breast feed my other girls due to being on active duty so this will be my first time doing it. I am a bit nervous and hope I can do it. I will def do it in recovery if possible. Congrats on your little boy, he is so so cute!!! THANKS AGAIN!

hi bri

i hope you don't mind i was just wondering what kind of construction company you work for?

my DH is a superintendent for a construction company out of Spokane WA

as i mentioned before most of my family lives over there and we were looking on line at the jobs in that area

it looks like if he stays with the company he works for we will end up in Othello soon and be there for about 2 years

Bri, I have a son about your sons age. He was born 10/22. We plan on trying soon for a girl (I saw you were going to be trying for a girl, eventually). Have you read anything about different things to do? We of course would love a another little boy but I really want a girl. Also (I read on the 7th month stage about your son's sleeping) mine still gets up ever 1-3 hours at night. No clue why. Doctor thinks because he's breastfed its comforting to him. I dunno but it sucks.
