jessyd76 - Thursday, 11 September Yes emergency they thought that the baby was going to be like 9 pounds but as the head came out they seen that the baby wa really big and doctors were betting to see how big it was and sure enough 11.8.
starby - Tuesday, 12 August Has the bigger breastshield worked at all for yoU? I switched to a bigger medela one and was still having problems so the lactation consultant gave me an even bigger one which I would have never expected to use and its actually made quite a difference. I've also had really good luck using the Lansinoh cream on my nips before each pump, they were super scabby and blistered and they are much much much better since I've been doing that. I've been Epumping for just over 3 months...for awhile there I wasnt sure I could keep it up! Walgreens sells these gel pads called "soothies" that provide lots of relief in between pumpings too, you just have to remember to wash off the area where you wear it before you pump. Good luck with everything! I'm so glad they added the Exclusively pumping section, we need to stick together, its a tough road thats for sure :)
lunagator - Saturday, 2 August Thanks for the advice. Kalina's doctor just put her on Nutrimagen (soy)- he got to see firsthand one of her scratching, crying, flailing, turning purple, unconsolable episodes and agreed that it's definitely abdominal. Hopefully we can figure this out.
babymakes3 - Friday, 1 August Glad you're feeling better. Mastitis is awful. I avoided any sort of underwire bra for weeks & was neurotic about 'emptying' each breast during feedings & working out any clogs immediately. We're going on 9 months now. Haven't had a problem since. :)
babymakes3 - Friday, 1 August I reread your post & realized that you must be on a different antibiotic than I was on. The one I was on was safe for the baby. Hope you're feeling better soon.
babymakes3 - Thursday, 31 July I just read your post about mastitis & throwing out your milk. I have never heard of that before. I had mastitis when my baby was 5 months old. She's now almost 9 months old and still breastfeeding. My midwife told me to nurse as often as possible...absolutely no harm done to the baby. It's the best way to rid your body of the infection & to keep your body producing healthy milk. Mastitis is awful, but your baby will not be harmed by drinking your milk. I wonder where your doctor got this info from??? Hope your feeling better soon.
catsa79 - Friday, 18 July Hey I have seen lactation consultant too, It's getting better and yeah I use cream too, I seem to have long nipples and he was latchn onto them, but now it is better, he still doesnt always open wide enough its frustrating, but sometimes he is perfect ?! I hope it gets better for you too
brandijo1122 - Thursday, 3 July It is normal for ur nipples to be sore. Mine hurt like HELL for about a week. My peditrician said that if i can tough it out for a week of sore nipples, then i can do it. I was about to give up completly, and then it was like a light switch one day, it did not hurt anymore. The Lanolin cream works wonders!!! Dont give up, it is the most rewarding thing in the world. My daughter will be 6 weeks old on fridday and we already have a bond that is unbreakable. Good luck=)
Traviesa - Thursday, 3 July heather...I paid for a lactation specialist help..it was worth it...and congratulations!!!!!!!! buy some lansinoh cream and start using that.. there's also La Leche LEague that can help too but I think the lactation specialist was the biggest help because she coached me and i was a pro within a day!
tabathan - Thursday, 3 July Congrats! Yes the nipple soreness is typical. Mine hurt for a while after birth. Your baby is just learning how to feed and is not getting it right 100% of the time so the discomfort. Ask the nurse for lanolin, express breastmilk and rub it on your nipple before and after feeding and allow your nipple to air dry. Good luck. Typically the hospital has a certified lactation consultant that you can see while there take advantage of that. also breastfeeding.com is awesome. good luck
BabyMarshall - Thursday, 3 July Heather, it can be normal for it to hurt like hell at first. It's a learning experience. Baby has to learn to latch on properly, and your nipples have to toughen up. Make sure baby is taking as much of the nipple into her mouth as possible, that should help a little. It's hard HARD work, especially the first couple of weeks but it is so worth it. I cried my way through the first few days but with a couple weeks I was a pro.
armywife - Wednesday, 9 April my midwife said she is going to start checking my cervix to make sure i am not dialated...but i would not let her strech it...wtf would they do that?
weenerh - Wednesday, 9 April Heather, I just read your post about your dr wanting to stretch your cervix. I would ask him lots of questions and if you're not comfortable with it, I wouldn't let him touch you. I've never heard of it. I don't know why a dr. would want to mess with anything before the baby is ready to be born.
Sarah19 - Thursday, 27 Mar Hey sorry it took me sooo long to respond. My computer only works some times. Congrats on the pregnancy!!!!!
niseybear - Sunday, 16 Mar The pump I have was given to me by the WIC office. It's a manual, but works fine for when I need it. I don't pump much, but I think when I put him on solid food, I'm going pump a little more to mix the cereal with my milk.
notimecj - Friday, 14 Mar Aww I was looking at your photos and they are soo cute.. I am soo bumbed about it, but i guess we will have time (or not) to stress about the weight after we have the baby.. Im glad to hear your doing good, congratulations, it seems like most of us are having girls!!
babybackwoods - Tuesday, 11 Mar Hi Heather.. Congrats on your baby girl #4. I too have 3 daughters ages 11, 7 & 5 with #4 on the way. We share the same due date (smile) . I desire a boy this time around, but I will be happy with whatever God blesses me with. My big sono is tomorrow (yea). I hope that the little one allows us to determine the sex. God Bless
MommaD - Tuesday, 11 Mar Very cute 3D pics! Your baby has an adorable little nose!
dlind - Saturday, 1 Mar Hi, If you feel that pain all the time i suggest for you to call your dr. Just to make sure its ok. Better be safe then sorry.
kathp - Friday, 29 Feb Hi heather, yes, I have those pains too. Especially if I have been sittin or lying for a longer time. It feels like the muscles have tightened up and won't relax to let me stand up. It is tedious but I don't think it is serious.
