lizzyo - Sunday, 1 June Oh I'm so over it already. My scan on the 22nd said they weigh about 1.4kg each which is about 3lbs 3oz I think. I don't have another scan till the 12th so hopefully they will be up around 2kg each by then. Lucky for me I'm having a caesarean at 35 weeks so just over 4 weeks to go, I don't think I could make it any longer. They are identical and sharing a placenta which means a lot more possible complications so my obstetrician has recommended they come as soon as its safe. I've had steroid injections for their lungs in case they decide to arrive early but as horrible as I feel I really want them to stay in there till 35 weeks. How are you feeling?
tiredwoman - Friday, 30 May Hello, Thank you for your visits to my page and your encouragement. The girls and I our doing fine and they are doing their normal preemie stuff. I wish you the best with your pregnancy. Take Care of yourself.
welchmomx5 - Thursday, 29 May Yes, it definitely is quite different to nurse 2 babies as opposed to 1. When they were little, I tried to nurse them at the same time always, as they nursed so often. I used pillows to help me, as my carpal tunnel was really bad in my right hand, and it was hard to handle them without them. As they have gotten older, I find that most times, I nurse them one after the other. I usually feed them, get them cleaned up, nurse them one at a time for a few minutes, and then lay them down one at a time, to get them settled. if they are both fussy, I will go ahead and nurse them together, but this gets challenging when you are all alone, and there is no one there to help and hand them to you. They are now able to come and pull up onto the couch, so sometimes, I will get one situated and then the other will come up to me, and I can scoop them up!=) I know this sounds like a lot, but I think it is so worth it! I actually prefer to nurse them separately, so that we have our bonding time, but sometimes is also nice to nurse them at the same time, as it is more convenient as far as time goes. It is also incredible to look down, as they both nurse together, and be able to hold two sweet little miracles all at once!=) When they were little and I was using the pillows, I tended to hold one in a football hold and one in a cradle hold at the same time. It seemed more manageable, but then again, that may be due to my carpal tunnel. I nursed them on demand for months, as I felt they needed it, and it would keep my milk supply up. I also assigned each baby a breast from the beginning til now, as I felt that with supply and demand, if one baby ate more or demanded more than the other, the breast could keep up with their needs, and is has always worked for me. Although I still feed on demand, over time, they have pretty much established their own routine. They nurse first thing in the morning - funny that they usually don't wake up at the same time, allowing me to nurse them in bed one at a time. They then get in the highchairs and munch on cheerios, while I get the others ready for school, and may nurse again before we head out. They then eat rice cereal with breastmilk or formula(the only time they ever get formula) with fruit or veggies and nurse againd before nap time. They then will nurse once more before dinner, and then they nurse again before bed. They each wake up at least once a night to nurse, but usually fall back to sleep rather quickly. The first 6 - 7months, they would only sleep for long stretches at night if they slept in their car seats - otherwise, they woke up every other hour and opposite hours, meaning I was up EVERY hour. I was a zombie, so I had to do something, and I got my pediatrician's blessing. Okay, I think I covered all your questions and then some. I better get off here, so I can go pick up my kids from school. They still have to go til next Thursday! Feel free to write anytime!
littlecavalier - Thursday, 29 May You're so welcome. I'm so passionate about breastfeeding and I just want you to have all of the help and support you need to hopefully be able to make it work!
welchmomx5 - Thursday, 29 May Hi, someone posted on my page that I may be able to help you with any questions you may have regarding nursing twins. I am currently nursing my 10 month old fraternal twin boys, Brady and Peyton, and have also nursed our other 3 children, the longest one for 19 months. Feel free to send me a post, and I would be happy to assist!=) Our guys were due August 14, 2007, and I made it to July 24, 2007 before getting induced at 37 weeks (I was already 5cm dilated and 90% effaced) Look forward to hearing from you.
vinessalynn - Thursday, 29 May Yes, as the babies get bigger the movement starts to hurt. Every now and then I get caught off gaurd because it hurts. It's not just the kicks that get painful it's also when they flip around and do water aerobics in your tummy. Hang in there. I'm also getting tons of contractions right now, which I didn't expect. My poor husband keeps trying to make me go to the hospital, but I refuse. This is my 4th pregnancy, so the last thing I want to do is spend time at the hospital if I can help it. So anyway, expect more painful movement, and alot of contractions. I guess it's just normal with twins.
spadoinkle - Thursday, 29 May yeah my girls are kicking very hard.. its pretty painful when they kick down low and i was acr\tually woken up by kicking last night..its amazing though heheh
JoJoUK - Wednesday, 28 May You have a lovely getting together and getting pregnant story! congratulations to you both on twins! x
twinstwice - Wednesday, 28 May I haven't had any US recently as my doc isn't worried about me much this time around. I will probably start going again in the summer closer to due date. I agree with you, I don't want them to come too soon. I don't want to spend anytime in the NICU, especially with our girls at home. My one girl spent two days in the Special Care Nursery and I felt bad not having her with me all the time. I just want them to come home with me as soon as possible so we can all be together.
vinessalynn - Tuesday, 27 May Thanks for the input. I figured they flipped on me, but it's nice to get feedback. Today they are kicking more up high, so who knows how many times they will flip on me. I'm quickly approaching the point of no return so hopefully they will make up their minds real soon. I have another ultrasound and Dr.'s apppt. on Friday and I'm about to enter week 32. I'm definitely happy to feel movement up high again, but there's nothing I can do to keep my little ones from flipping again. Thanks again!
chefmcdonald - Tuesday, 27 May Hi.....how are u :) I got my wrap from a site called 'theslingstation.com" all one word....I got the larger one so I could carry both of the babies in it...and dont worry you wont smother them :) it's a wonderful thing to have let me tell u....frees your hands up so u can do other things....if u go to the moby wrap website they have vidoes that show u how to put it on...it looks harder than it is....its wicked easy to do...I put mine on now in a few seconds...also at first you'll need help putting the baby...or babies in the sling...but after a few tires you'll be a pro :)
sophf - Sunday, 25 May no! They are 6lbs and 5lbs now- predicted 9lbs and 7.5lbs at 38 weeks
twinstwice - Saturday, 24 May Hi! 24 weeks this week! Crazy how time is flying by. I am still not ready mentally for these two to come. I am trying to enjoy my summer as much as possible and enjoy the girls on their own. They are learning so much and love going to the park, it is so much fun right now. They are also trying to mimic more and more sounds and they will have little conversations with each other... so cute!
So we are having one boy and the other is a mystery still.
I have had a lot of problems with my back, pelvis and hips too. But my husband and I took a holiday for a week without the girls and I having been feeling so much better (I think not having to lift them did wonders) though I still get tired and I have to be careful how much stuff I do in a day.
Are you ready for them to come?
ABCsMommy - Saturday, 24 May Thanks so much for your prayers! We had surgery on Wednesday and the girls have blown away the doctors. Their signs of TTTS have completely reversed themselves and they are doing beautifully! Most of the time if the surgery works they don't see improvement for at least 48 hours and even then it is only slight. 12 hours later they were already doing great now it has been 36. Now I just have to keep them in there at least 8 more weeks. Thanks again!
number4omg - Saturday, 24 May Prevacid its by prescription only. it comes in a black and pink capsule. works wonders!
number4omg - Friday, 23 May Prevacid has saved my life. Its safe for you and babies. Couldn't even drink flavored water before, now I'm pouring lemon juice all over my salmon. Never had h/b or acid reflux in my life even throughout 4 other pregnancy. Till I hit 3 months pregnant with this one. Good luck.
