soon2bmommaof2 - Thursday, 30 October
Hello! My first son was delivered by c-section also. This time I really had a hard time choosing rather or not I wanted to try vbac or have a repeat section, but after yesterday, my mind was made up pretty quickly - esp., after both my midwife and doctor recommended a repeat section because of the babys size already. I'm really scared and nervous about another csection, because I didn't recover to quickly after my first...

The hard part is that I am a teacher and don't have scheduled breaks. Even if I negotiate something with my principal, that means someone unqualified is teaching something and as a teacher and a parent, I don't like that. That's why I can't pump more often. I thought my body adjusted to that because I would get nearly 9 oz the one time a day I pumped but wouldn't get engorged for it. Now I get about 6. I didn't have a problem for a full month so I'm not sure what is going on. I am probably over worrying, I have a supply in the freezer so I'm still ahead of the game. How much is a rational amount to expect to pump?

tto - Sunday, 26 October
Wow, that's really interesting info I never knew. I always was worried about baby waking up to nurse right after pumping. I had no idea there was still that much in there. I have a Medela, but no a hospital grade one. Couldn't afford the monthly expense. I tried Fenugreek but my baby reacted to it. I know I am drinking enough. I'm trying to save the Domperidone as a last resort. It's just tough to keep my supply up with his demand since I am working now. I don't epump- just once during work (can't do anymore than that) and once at night. It went well through all of September and then I had a slow decrease through October and am trying to get it back up. Right now I'm trying Goat's Rue. I have one side smaller than the other so that herb is suppose to help. Thanks for your help!!

I saw your name on the epump forum. I have a question- how do you pump in a way that fully drains your breasts? I pump for 2- 25 min, until I see no more come out. But I can squeeze the nipples and more milk comes out. How do I get it all?

I only just saw your message of the 14th, sorry!

I do use the sleep sack, I took the swaddle wings off of the newborn one and use it for swaddling on the size Medium one. It still works if you're careful (not too high because it can get inched up towards the face if they work it...not that I'm not always watching on the vid monitor).

I use that more for naps, I'm still using the miracle blanket for night but it tends to get wet by morning so I use the sleep sack.

You know, re; music I used a cd loop all night long w/Emily. She was a perfect sleeper from 5 mths on...she'd hear that 1st song and know it was bedtime. I will discuss w/dh later (he hated leaving the player running all night).

Thanks for your note Debra, & the comments about my girls' eyes.

So what is Julies' sleep like during the day? Typical nap times? do you have her on routine or scheduled napping?

I try to get Julia back to sleep for a nap anywhere from 1.5 - 2 hrs of being awake, and I try to time feedings so that she's ready to eat just before nap, which has her nursing every three hrs during the day (or I give her a little nibble even if it's only been 2 hrs since she's eaten). She falls asleep 90% of the time and I place her in her crib. 10% of the time she's awake even if nursed and I still put her in her crib. She mostly will fall asleep quietly (sometimes w/1 or 2 paci replacements from me). She naps anywhere from 45 min to 2 hrs, though the average is about an hour. She is generally awake from her last nap by 3 and goes to bed around 6, which is 3 hrs awake, but she is very pleasant until 5:30. Also she's eating a good amount of oatmeal cereal every night during our dinner (5:00 ish) and then I nurse her around 5:45. She is happy with her bedtime at 6. She is very pleasant and happy all the time, thank god she isn't overtired. When I add up her sleep hrs, she is sleeping around 14 hrs a day, 11 or 12 of them are at night so it seems she is right on track.

My big problem is I go to bed at 7:30 because I am exhausted, but this has to end next month because my seasonal work begins (I do taxes) and I'll need to go to work 6 PM - 9:30. I don't mind dh putting her to bed but I will be too tired to go to work from the night wakings!

My other issue is I feel it's time to stop swaddling and she will not sleep with even one arm out. She flails it all over the place and then is wide awake, then cries. I don't know what to do about it.

Last night was a bit better:
to sleep at 6 PM
unfortunately up at 7:45 (she usually sleeps her first stretch the longest, 4-5 hrs but not last night) let cry until 8...then
nurse and back to sleep (bts) 8:15
up again at 10:30. Nurse, then bts until 3:30!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!! that was great. I nursed her then and bts by 3:50 AM. She got up at around 5:00 crying, I gave paci and she went bts and is still sleeping now at 5:50 AM. I imagine she'll sleep until 6:15-6:30.

so it's something like this:

up at 6 AM,

nap at 7:30-8:00 until around 9:00

nap around 11 until 12:00

nap around 2:00 until 3

to bed at 6 PM

She did better last night but I am crazy tired and I am worried about when I have to start working. Oh, and she won't sleep on her tummy. I've tried!!!

Additional advice is appreciated!!!!! Thanks!

gr8scottswife - Thursday, 23 October
Thanks so much for sharing that video with me. It really helped me get the Moby right. Also, I read on your page about your baby being a tummy sleeper. Ada Joy is also a tummy sleeper, and when nothing else will put her to sleep, I flip her to her tummy and she goes right to sleep.

My hemaglobin was actually significantly high concidering I had low iron during all pregnancies and all other counts were fantastic as well. It was strange cause even all my vitals were better then ever!!! I was luck to say the least for all of that and the fact that after 6 weeks there was no infection and my uterus was already contracted to noraml. (which I guess would mean that all contents left behind was a small quantity!) Thanks again for you answer and your concern! very appreciated!!

Congrats and good luck with everything! Stay posted!
