jayrodmarie22 - Monday, 13 October Hi > I wanted to know if you could go on my profile and look at my picture at 16 weeks and tell me if you think i look big or small for this far along ...?????
gr8scottswife - Monday, 13 October Yes. We've tried that. She made a little progress today. Her main problem is twisting and turning when she is finding the nipple. She gets worse when I try to hold her body still; she kind of fights me then. So, I have to figure out a way to get her to stop squirming.
lisadpa - Sunday, 12 October In your case obviously 7:30 is perfect! Julia gets very tired and cranky by 5:30, so I know she needs to sleep by 6 (Emily had been the same way). And her first stretch of sleep is normally good--four hours.
CIO is "cry it out", not something an attachment parent does easily or happily. CIO is the fastest method of sleep retraining, and a last resort method. Their little brains learn very quickly "oh, no one is coming, ok, I'm tired, I'll go to sleep".
Marc Weissbluth MD authored "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child". Even Babywise quotes him (I'm reading that one now).
You are so lucky!
I was a die hard thumber too!
by the way, bfing is going so great! I began weaning my older daughter at 2 months and stopped completely at 5 mths. I'm so proud that Julia is exclusively bf. Laying down to nurse made all the difference!!!!!!
lisadpa - Saturday, 11 October Hi Debra. Mostly I think CIO did it. She isn't eating a significant amt of cereal (just started it). She doesn't sleep on her tummy (helped with dd#1 like a miracle).
I am a total believer in extremely early bedtimes, a la Marc Weissbluth...
I think she just needs to be broken of the bad habit of me sticking paci in her mouth every time she awakens.
Last night we had crying in between feedings. I used earplugs!
gr8scottswife - Saturday, 11 October Thanks for the reminder about the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. I feel like such a failure, like I'm deformed or something. The lactation specialist was that helpful. I'm going to check on it right away.
femi - Saturday, 11 October it's tough because i am comfortable with her because there's something very genuine about her. i know she's just starting out on her dream to start a daycare, and everyone has to start somewhere, and she's doing the best she can and is very open to things i dictate for my daughter's care. i just can't believe she never told me about the male roommate and his smoking habit. i guess she knew i probably wouldn't have picked her as a sitter 'cause no one likes to hear that their kid is a smoker environment. i'm torn about what to do. where else can i find a sitter as cheap as her and that's so nearby my job that i can breastfeed at lunch time? this is frustrating! i have an appointment to see a daycare on tuesday, but now i'm second guessing my reaction to this situation.
taelynnzmommy - Saturday, 11 October Hey ladies! my newest ultrasound pics are up!! check them out if you would like :) hope everyone has a great weekend!!
femi - Saturday, 11 October you're so sweet! this woman is a licensed provider and has the infant cpr license (or certificate). she's a good person and i get along well with her, but i feel like i need to think about my daughter and not how i think this woman is nice because, nevetheless, she wasn't honest or upfront about the people living in the home and whether anyone else smoked. plus, she gave my daughter gripe water 5 times when 6 times is the max and it made me feel that she was giving it to her to make her quiet. ugh, this is so frustrating.
2b - Friday, 10 October I am having a hospital birth with my OB and a doula (hospital provided) I am hoping for an entirely unmedicated birth and am seriously considering a water birth. I am nervous about all the unnecessary interventions provided in a hospital setting and after talking to my OB about this he suggested that I look into the hospitals doula program and has assured me that he is on board with my wishes as long as it is safe...So I do trust him BUT I am still nervous. One thing for sure I feel empowered after reading the book and I KNOW I can do this!!
