How are you doing today? I would think plain cheerios without milk for breakfast would be ok, but I was told to stay away from fruit at breakfast. I guess in the mornings after you eat, your blood sugar rises significantly, and fruit can make it too high. That is why you have to watch your carbs at breakfast. Your snack sounds good.. but my dietician told me to have 30 grams of carbs for a snack. So you might need to eat more. Lunch sounds fine, but you might want to add a few more carbs. You should be getting 60 grams of carbs at lunch and dinner both. Dinner and snack both sound good to me! Don't forget about an afternoon snack around 2 or 3.. I eat about 15 grams of carbs then! I was so happy.. last night I splurged and had a brownie with dinner.. it was included in my 60 grams of carbs at dinner. And my blood sugar was only 100 when I checked it 2 hours later!! I hope you are able to get to the store soon and find some yummy food you can eat!! Cheese is a good snack.. no carbs. My dietician also told me cottage cheese is another "free food" with no carbs.

Oh honey Im sorry!!! Keep your head up, it will be okay. Did you fail it bad...or just moderately. I mean...are you doing it by diet or are you gonna have to take shots?

I bought Wonder Lite Bread. They also make Weight Watchers Wheat bread that is low carb. Just look for the bread that has 15-16 carbs for 2 slices. Regular bread is 15 carbs per slice!! Tacos is another low carb meal... I bought shells that have 11 carbs in 2 shells!! And there is very little carbs in taco seasoning. Of course the meat and veggies for your tacos is no carbs. Glad I could help some!!

I found out I have GD 2 weeks ago. It has been so hard adjusting, but I am doing well and my blood sugars are great. I miss my chocolate milk though!! For breakfast, I usually eat 2 slices of lite bread with peanut butter on it. Sometimes I have an egg. Morning snack 2 of these choices: sugar free pudding cup, handful of vanilla wafers, or fruit. Lunch: turkey sandwich on lite bread, baked cheetos (you can have like 30 of them for 15 grams of carbs), fruit, pudding cup. Afternoon snack: granola bar or vanilla yogurt or 100 calorie pack of something yummy. Dinner: chicken or beef with up to 60 grams of carbs. Evening snack most always includes low sugar ice cream!! That is my treat to myself! Good luck starting your GD diet.. it really sucks and is hard, but you will do fine. Just go through the grocery store and look for items with 15grams of carbs or less per serving. Hope I helped some!

Sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes. I have it also. Its VERY hard to get used to and hard to adjust to. But once you get the hang of it , its not so bad. I actually cried the first week on my diet cause i had such a hard time figuring out what worked to lower my numbers.

Here is a list of veggies you can eat as much as you want of. Just be careful what you put on them...for example butter or margarine, That will raise your levels. Try to stick with salt and pepper for flavor if you can. Or a lite salad dressing.
Brocolli
cawliflower
cucumber
tomatoes
peppers
onions
squash
spinach
salad greens(iceberg lettuce, romaine, etc)
green beans
carrots

You can have as much of those as you want. Also, skinless chicken breast, 93% lean chopped meat and steak and/or london broil. You can eat TONS of that also. I just advise that you try to grill your meats whenever possible. It allows the fats to drip off.

Heres some good substitutes you should switch to.
splenda instead of sugar for your coffee
whole wheat pasta instead of white
Go to weight watchers whole wheat bread
Go to Skippy All Natural peanut butter
Go to a lite or fat free butter or margarine
Go to Frozen yogurt instead of ice cream
switch to 2% milk

You can also eat tons of Polly o string cheese. You can have the 6oz containers of Yoplait lite yogurt. Stay away from fruit. They are loaded with tons of natural sugars. The only thing i have found that works is the small green granny smith apples. I have one everyday with my lunch...lol

If your interested i can also give you some meal ideas for breakfast lunch and dinner. I hope this info helps.

Oh, before i forget....try to finish your lunch and dinner off with a green side salad. Make sure you drink pleanty of water and after each meal take a walk around the block to get your heart rate up. By doing all three of those things it will REALLY help you get your levels down. AND it will give you a head start at being in shape once the baby comes! lol Im 36 weeks prego. and i have only gained 10 pounds. I just had a weight scan on my baby the other day and he is a healthy 7 pounds 6oz.! So im ahead of the ball allready! I will weigh less coming out of the hospital then i did when i got prego! LOL how exciting is that!?

Good luck to you and let me know if i be of any help!

Things are going good so far, second pregnancy so I don't really have many questions on things. This kid is still breech though, as long as it turns around before it comes it is ok with me.

I understand about the everything so far away. Ok yea Coon Rapids has alot of stuff but nothing that I am used to I have to drive to get to anything. I used to live in Apple Valley and also Bloomington everything was down there, MOA, Burnsville Mall, The Zoo, any store was alot closer and almost everything was 24 hours unlike up here. Owell I guess we do what we have to do right.

cissy - Friday, 29 August

Yea, I know what you mean about shaving the bikini area. I can't see and I almost can't even feel. I don't even wear make-up anymore, I sweat it off anyway. That sucks about the stretchmarks on your calfs, I've got them on the front of my thighs. I'm more scared of what my body's going to look like when he finally comes out, because I just can't imagine it ever looking like it did before pregnancy. haha....I know pregnancy is a miracle and all, but it really Fing sucks sometimes. Hope you have a good week :biggrin
