JenGrrrl - Saturday, 25 October Thank you for the labor dust! I'm getting induced Oct. 30th so instead of an election day baby, I may have a little goblin :) I'm glad your labor went by somewhat quickly. I'm going to get pitocin too and epidural. adriennella - Friday, 24 October Ok, personal question time...do your stitches feel sore or are they poking you? Are they inside or out? I had lots inside and out. The ones on the outside were tender and the ones on the inside started poking me. I found out that I had a few loose ends. One doctor clipped them (I promise you don't feel it) and another eventually took them out. I was so shy and scared about being messed with down there, but it was a big relief. Don't be afraid to get help or ask for medicine in these first two weeks. There are meds that you can take that are safe during breastfeeding. Also, I found that Tuck's Pads were much nicer than using toilet paper.
As for the breastfeeding, it's so hard those first two weeks. It sounds like you're doing a great job staying on top of things. I ended up getting mastitis because one of my breasts kept getting engorged. A doctor helped me by telling me to get into a warm shower and push on my breast, starting at my breastbone and going down to start the flow. Then I was to feed the baby. Then I was to put cool compresses on. Another thing that really helped were nipple guards ($5 by Medela at Babies R Us or Target). Those things were the best thing ever when my nipples got really sore. The doc also told me about that.
You're right at the time when your milk comes in. It will get better and more regular. You're doing a great job!
Enjoy every second of today. Snuggle her every minute.
