After hearing what you all think in regards to posting photos on the forums, we have modified the rules and ask that everyone familiarize yourself so that the site continues to remain friendly for everyone, including new members. In an effort to be respectful of all members of the site, we ask that members do not post more than ONE photo or video per person in the weekly, monthly and information forums. Your ONE picture should be small in size as well. Any large photos will be deleted. You are welcome to post as many pictures as you would like in the photo books, which were created for the purpose of sharing and viewing photos. You may also post as many blogs as you would like with photos in them. We understand that many members enjoy posting and viewing pictures on the forums, but this is not where they belong. We must keep the pictures on the boards to a minimum so that the written comments can continued to be written and read. Otherwise, the numerous amounts of large pictures squash the messages and they become missed. We ask that this modification be respected, therefore any member that continues to post numerous pictures a day will be deleted from the site. first-munchkin - Thursday, 13 November Hi , I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who left lovely comments about my little mans nursery pictures x x x
dawnispregz - Wednesday, 12 November Forgot to mention - if you are severely unlucky you may have the pain of spd for every period after birth. When pregs you release the hormone called Relaxin, you also release that went on your monthly. I have had a monthly and it hasnt happened to me and i was extremely bad with it,crawling upstairs etc etc and support belts so i would say that if you arent at that stage then you may escape the pain too. SPD will also occur in every pregnancy after this one too, and turn up earlier. This is one thing that would make me consider whether or not to have another child. x x
dawnispregz - Wednesday, 12 November No i didnt end up being induced, but thats cos he came of his accord @ 38wks, my maternity appt at 37wks was when m,wife made appt following monday for inducton, but two days after the mat appt he arrived. I needed inducing because of the spd and because i was measuring at 41 weeks on fundal height - i was massive! the spd didnt affect me at all, but u concentrate on the contractions thats the only thing you can feel really lol ! i didnt have pain relief n i delivered naturally,my waters broke at 2am thursday and 5.10pm that night he was here! i was told by midwife to not have stirrups n epidural, because u cant feel how far ur legs are parted n poss of breaking pubic bone n no stirrups because of poss of forcing legs too far apart...... but i had no choice i needed stirrups to get him out as his heartrate dropped and i needed epidural as i needed to go to theatre for removal of placenta and neither of these things hindered me further with the spd. So dont worry about stuff like that. I didnt know my blog was on the inducement section, i havent added it there, never mind! But im glad that i could at least off your some advice and help you get through the next week a little easier with stairs and bed situation, i also found that a gym ball helped me whilst givin birth - if you dont have one, buy one and take it to the hosp with you. I also had 3 baths, i laboured mainly between the relaxation room with bean bags and balls and the bath,im a water baby and find it relaxing. And because i didnt have any drugs i now have a really happy content baby. Been told that hes content due to the labour. I jsut breathed through it and obv screamed - also said the F word quite a few times too!!! If you have anymore questions or concerns then just msg me.
dawnispregz - Wednesday, 12 November just a quick question how did u come across my blog ??? not that i mind, just curious x
dawnispregz - Wednesday, 12 November Babes, you have SPD no doubt about it, and unfortunately it isnt gonna get better, only worse as the baby and you get bigger. You need a tubigrip, kinda like a body shaper, which holds the hips together and restricts parting of the legs, and a support belt, that goes around the tummy and lifts the weight off the pelvis. Mine was so bad that i was on crutches and in the last month i was crawling upstairs. A physiotherapist will give you exercises - but until you get that appt, heres what mine told me: To walk upstairs/steps, walk sideways or backwards - never forward as the height of the knee on the step infront pushes back into pelvis. Shuffle to the edge of the bed and 'glue' your legs together as you get out so both legs on the floor at the same time. Sit on the edge of the bed and push back with your bum and hands to get further on and as you lift your legs into bed 'glue' them together......the bed issue was the worst for me as we have a high kingsize sleigh bed.The bed is higher than my hips so it was very difficult! To get into a bath, stand right next to it, side on bend over with hands on the side,-so your body is lengthways with the side of the bath,- and then very gently put your feet in. Try and get your body as flat to the side of the bath as poss(in early stages of pregs with no bump, you can lay your tummy on the side and lift legs in) Go to sleep with a pillow inbetween your legs, this realigns your hips, if the pillow is thin fold it over. Dont forget you can take paracetomols and codeine. This is one of the most excrutiating things EVER, and unless you going thru it no one can understand. SPD happen because you release an hormone called Relaxin which makes the pubic bone supple for child birth, and unfortunately in some of us we get the blunt end and we feel the effects. The grinding is the bone shearing off little pieces of your ligament right in the middle of your pubic bone. A warm bath, is ace but in the latter stages its difficult getting in and out. If you need anymore advice or just to rant about it, then lean on me its all good. x x
