Hi Julia, I use playtex drop-ins as well. I have used them for almost 4 months now. The 8oz drop-ins should have oz all the way up the bag. Thats weird if they dont. But you can also go by the ounces on the bottle because it measure exactly the same. How I prepare my bottles is I put water in the liner, usually 6 oz, I heat the water, then I add powder. You can add water and powder then heat it if you like. I hope this helps. If not feel free to ask me anytime!

hi Julia, my 2 children have cradle cap (even my 2 year) but Ive started putting Olive Oil on it and it seems to be ok. Not really tried Baby Oil - I know that is good for dry skin but cradle cap not sure sorry!

MELISSAW. - Monday, 11 Feb
I use the handle of an ice cream scoop to push the air out. :-)

Hi julia, i use the same bottles and i just use some sort of object (that is not sharp or pointy) thats big enough to fit in there, and thats how i get the air out. Also for making formula, we use one of those large glass mason jars, and make a whole bunch at once so we dont have to be consantly mixing formula. Hope this helps.

I use the drop ins too I got 6 oz bottle which are perfect for my 3 month old and they say on one side 'drop ins' and the other side bags so I know how many oz by looking at the bottles. Also if you pinch the nipple while you push on the bag it lets more of the air out.

Thank you, your little girl is beautiful as well, I love the playtex drop ins, allthough I don't like the new expandable liners, but i guess i have to deal with it. lol

aj0104 - Friday, 8 Feb
OK, about the playtex drop ins, are the 8 oz liners the expandable liners? If so I would use a measuring cup to measure the water and then pour it into the liner. I can never seem to get out all the air either, and I just mix the formula in the water in the bottle. Hope this helps Good Luck

i used those bottles for a while a i used the end of a wooden spoon to push the air out of the 8 oz ones because that was to much for my girl too and as for formula i put water in and then put the formula in and shake it really good and give it to her hope this helps best wishes

hiya, just use the water from your kettle, i have 2 children now and i have always made bottles this way, i think every mother in the uk just boils the kettle and uses the water from that - trust me it honestly wont do any harm its boiled water and thats fine best wishes xx

About you question reguarding boiling water: My ped said if you are drinking the water and it is good enough for you it is good enough for baby. The thing he did say was if you had well water to have it tested before you use it for formula. So I don't think it will matter if you boil fir 5 minutes or until it shuts off. I don't boil my water at all, but tesyed my well, of corse that was after I drank it all pregnancy long, probably should have yested it before, but my water is fine. I know it might depend on were you are from as well

What color are your parents eyes? If you have a blue eyed parent then most likely the baby will have blue eyes.

peanuts mommy - Tuesday, 22 Jan
It varies how soon babies eyes change to their permanent color. My mother told me my eyes changed to brown when I was about six months old. My baby is half Hispanic and her eyes are blue gray.

DanielleF - Tuesday, 22 Jan
Usually a babies eye color will change up till about six months. They usually stay the same after six months. The way i understand if your baby is born with brown eyes they will stay brown. If you baby is born with the dark steel colored eyes, they can change to blue, green, or brown. They usually stay the same after six months of age. But usually brown coloring dominates the other colors but anything is possible. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your note. I did call my son's pediatrician and they said babies at this stage eat anywhere from 2 - 5 oz every 2 - 3 hours....so it appears both our babies are eating 'normally.'

So, how is motherhood for you so far?

Hi Julia! I read your posting and I have to tell you that I went through that last week with my 6 week old, Ean. I found this really good lotion from Aveeno, its called Aveeno Baby. Its a soothing relief moisture cream and REALLY helped my little guy from his eczema-like symptoms he had. Its fragrance-free and made especially for the little guys. I found it in the baby dept in my local Commisary( we're a military family), but I'm sure you can find it at any pharmacy. Hope it helps!!

That is so funny that our little Princess's are born the same day! That's cause their pretty!

TexasTammy - Wednesday, 16 Jan
Julia, I have the same problem w/ my guy and I see below (in madymay post) the solution that worked for us. Corn starch - pure corn starch. Also works great on a bad diaper rash.

madymay - Wednesday, 16 Jan
Hey Julia, poor baby, my little princess had the same thing. I think its cause she sweats, drips formula and can't air out. Well my ped told me to put cornstarch on it. Believe it or not, it worked after about a day. I put a little now and then of the johnsons babypowder with cornstarch and I havent had a problem since. Good Luck.

melissabnj - Wednesday, 16 Jan
My daughter gets the same thing w/ the rash on her neck. It's a tough area b/c of sweat, milk, and lack of air on it. I either put Desitin on it or keep the area dry by applying powder to it. When it is really red though the diaper rash stuff works great! It is usually gone by the following day! By the way, your little one is so cute! Good luck.

ethanalisonemma - Wednesday, 9 Jan
I put two drops of mylicon in the formula, this helps with the bubbles and with gas. it works great!

EthanAlisonEmma - Monday, 7 Jan
Your little Emma is soooooooo cute!!!! I wish you all the best.

Steam will help, exp with the stuffiness. The cough is prob caused by back drainage. Good luck, it is awful watching your little one suffer.

Hello i read your post about foamy formula--I make up about 36 oz in a juice container and use a wisk to mix it up. It helps break up the clumps and keeps the foam to a minimum. I also use the Dr. Browns bottle that help alot with bubbles. They are harder to wash but well worth it. Hope that helps.

JessiferRabbit - Saturday, 5 Jan
I just read your post about the foamy formula, I use Playtex drop ins and when I'm at home, I stir in the formula. I put the formula in first then the warm water and stir it. When I'm out if I don't have a spoon, I shake it and then push the air out of the bag. Even with the drop ins its sometimes messy to sqeeze the air and foam out though.
