hi julia, i read your question and wanted to tell you that i just recentely found the playtex drop ins. with those you can put your formula in, and squeeze the nipple while pushing the air out of the drop in from underneath...i hope that makes sense..my sister inlaw just showed me last night..and it works, no air and no bubbles. you want to get the formula up into the nipple until it squirts out. good luck..let me know.

I do not experience foam but I use ready to feed cans. What kind of mix are you using and brand. I am using Enfamil Prosobee (by choice)

RobinG - Wednesday, 2 Jan
When I use powder I premix it in a koolaid jug and put it in the fridge and once it settles its not so foamy bubbly ~ formula is good for 48 hours once made. When making as you go make it in a seperate container then pour into bottle that helps too. And I use Dr. Browns bottles which helps with the air :)

i have tryed everything when it comes to getting the bubbles/foem out of a bottle and nothing works. i dont know what kind of formula you use but i was using infimil and it was alot bubblier than similac. but what you could do that gets all air and bubbles out is if you use the bottles that take the bags and you squeeze the bag to get all air and bubbles out. hope that helps. goodluck

Julia, don't feel bad at all. I have had several peds tell me Never wake the baby to eat unless he/she is or becoming dehydrated. Most babies will wake when they are hungry. Plus by 4 weeks some babies (like mine) will be ready to sleep longer streches at night. My son will eat every 3 hours during the day but goes 6 or 7 hours at night, he has been going at least 5 hours since 4 weeks old.

Hey Julia. My son is still colic with severe reflux at 4 months but getting better. I used to let him sleep but checked up on him. She will wake up when she is hungry dont forget they grow and develop when they are sleeping and thats why she needs plenty of it right now. I hope her colic doesnt last long!!!

Hi, I had a daughter that had colic really bad too her's started when she was about 4weeks old and it went away at about 4months. I never woke her up too eat, i was always told that if she's hungry she will wake up on her own. i would still check up on her though every few hours just to make sure she was okay. i know how you feel, colic is not a fun thing to deal with it's stressful on you and the family because nothing seems to help and it's hard too watch your baby like that. i wish you good luck and hope your baby get's over the colic soon. sabrina

Hi Julia- Congratulations on your baby girl..I am due in 6 days as the days go by I get more and more scared and anxious. I've decided not to bother with a birthing plan as you don't know what to expect and things could change at any point..I just wanted to go with the flow.

It could be caused from a few differnt things but I'd surely talk to your doc to confirm ~ milk/lactose allergy, soy allergy, gas, colic, iron, constipation etc can all cause belly pain. Whether its from the milk or gasy foods in your diet and you are BF'ing or the milk in formula or iron etc all those things can cause her much discomfort in her belly causing her to scream. And if she is colic that too. Talk to your doc to confirm but if it were me the first steps I'd take until your doc confirms is watch spicy, gasy foods and avoid products, if formula fed I would try allimentum or nutramigen ~ my youngest son has used both and allimentum I feel is better. The milk protein can cause pain in digstion and both have smaller milk protein in them but allimentum is even smaller then nutramigen. They are the same product but one made by Enfamil the other similac. And soy formula has no milk in it at all so even better. If you look at cans of forumla you will see even formula for sensitive babies may be milk based, only soy has non totally. I always used soy with my older two and it helped lot. mylicon drops can be given at every feeding for gas pain and also be sure she is getting enough to eat and not crying from still being hungry. My neices were like that, one VERY colicy and would scream for hours ~ doc said as long as she eats good every 5 hours or isgetting the right amount of milk and gaining weight it was ok to not wake her. She said she'd finally fall asleep from crying and she'd feel bad then needing to wake her to feed. If she has a cold sucking can hurt from congestion even if no infection or fever. ((())) ~ also saw you had pain with the cath, I had one prior to my spinal with my first and the second time they told me they dont do them now til you are numb so if you ever have to have a section again ask to have it inserted AFTER the spinal. My nurse told me most places dont do them before anymore they are now done in the OR once you are numb. (())

Ask ur MD re sex mine said 6 weeks

slvrmoon - Friday, 14 Dec
You are supposed to wait 6 weeks. About 2 weeks after delivery you are incredibly fertile, which is probably why you have such a strong sex drive right now! Good luck holding out! My husband and I just barely made it the 6 weeks last time around!

hey julia, congrats, i'm from wk 38 and this is my 2nd pregnancy. it is normal to feel nervous about giving birth 4 the 1st time but belive me it won't be as bad as u think it will be. i moan at a paper cut my work mate were wondering how the hell i was going to get though labour i ended up doing it with no pain relief at all every1 was surprised even me as i thought it would get worse. the best advise to give u is not to even think about it till u no your in labour by then u won't care anyway good luck u will be fine.

luvbeingamom - Saturday, 6 Oct
Julia - This is my second time around so i am not as nervous.. .but i felt the same way before my son was born. I don't know about you but i wanted drugs with my labor. i was afraid of the pain. I was in labor for 28+ hours and didn't get the drugs until hour 24. As bad as it is/was, i was still willing to do it again. that is what i kept in mind before hand. If labor was so horrible and the outcome not worth it, then women wouldn't do it twice (or more!). It will be ok and trust me you kinda forget. Good Luck.

AmberJ24 - Saturday, 6 Oct
i dont know if i have any tips on how to get through labor, but i do know that you will get through it just fine. when i had my son, my epidural didnt work and i was terrified, but as soon as he was born, i forgot all about everything, i was just mesmerized at the sight of my son...=)

Thank you! i'll feel something like, really really light cramping every once and a while but the doctor said that was normal and I should calm down until my appt and not worry until I have bad pain or blood. It's just so scary! Not knowing... and worrying. But thanks again :)

Anitra - Friday, 28 Sep

HI thanks for the well wishes and the comment. My mom is actually coming around. But as for my children's father.. hes NOT! lol. Didn't think he would though. He now has NO place to live and just continues to lie to my girls about coming to get them and see them.. etc. Its to the point that my 5 year old went to school and told her teacher that her father said he would take her for ice cream but didn't show. And she cried... right there in class!! NOT a good thing. I hope your pregnancy is going well and the baby is healthy! This is IT for me... 3 is way more than enough! lol. Congrats!

BEXi - Friday, 7 Sep
Crazy coincidence! I like his Dad a lot, but I just want to be able to spend some time in that room before he's here.. I'm so sick of having it all in storage. I know i'll be rearranging the thing 20 million times! haha.

BEXi - Friday, 7 Sep
Thank you! Unfortunatly, that picture isnt the room.. just a picture of the bedding.. :( I havent been able to do his room yet because my boyfriends Dad has been living in that room the last couple of months! hopefully he'll be leaving SOON! I've been dieing to get that room done.. :(

Hi Julia, I just followed a link to the pregnancy survey. If you look at the bottom of my vip page under the survey, there should be a link there. Good luck.
