Coronation Street - Thursday, 11 September Hi Lin, ped didn't mention how or why the club foot and hypospadia are related, but clearly the two are minor issues in the big picture. She was adamant that vm is not associated, but we have seen a number of examples. Mind you the hypospadia is very common and club foot is much more common in boys. On that note I am now done with searching for vm causes and syndromes and will try to enjoy the last few weeks of my pregnancy. What a roller coaster we have all been on.
AshleyD - Thursday, 11 September Well, we found out I have a condition known as placenta percreta which can be life threatening for me and baby. The Dr. let us leave the hospital yesterday to get things in order here for the next week or so then I will be transported to Dallas for the remainder of my pregnancy. I was informed that in some cases of placenta acreta the uterus can be saved, but mine is percreta and the worse one they have seen so there will be no hope of my avoiding a hysterectomy. This will be my only hope to having a baby. My due date is New Years Eve, but more than likely she will be born in November,God willing she holds out that long. Please pray for our family. God bless all of you as well.
Angelia - Wednesday, 10 September Oh, I forgot to mention. Tristan will have his surgery on Monday (Sept 15th) and hopefully it will be the only surgery needed. He'll be in a 3 week cast after that and then just braces for a few months. I'm feeling hopeful about that part!
Angelia - Wednesday, 10 September Sorry it's taken so long to reply. I'm just having a terrible emotional time right now. The agency I work for has an Infant to Work program and I REALLY want to bring Tristan to work with me. My supervisor (who's never had a baby) is against the program. I have a meeting tomorrow, and to be honest I think I'm going to have a fight on my hands.
At one point my milk supply was terrible, but with some pills, extra pumping, etc I was able to get it up. I don't have much extra pumped yet for when I go back to work so that's discouraging for me.
We did have latching issues. The lactation lady had me use a breast shield to help give Tristan more surface to latch onto. Just in the past week I've been able to forgo to the shield and no longer need it.
Tristan now doesn't like the bottle. He will take it (I never give him a bottle but rather daddy does it) but then still wants the comfort of nursing from me so it's all good.
cyndrn - Tuesday, 9 September I know, strange. I am sure in the future it will be some kind of syndrome. They just have not put a finger on it yet! I hope his vents go to normal, I am so sick of checking him for increased brain pressure all the time.
mum2betoo - Tuesday, 9 September OMG this pic is adorable...he is so cute...congrats on #2
cyndrn - Monday, 8 September Hi, I know it is very strange. My son was born at 36 6/7 wks. At the 35 wk ultrasound his lateral vents were 15mm with the 3rd enlarged too. Nothing else noted. At birth he was 6.5 pounds, 18.5 inches with a 13.5 inch head. The next day they did an ultrasound and neurosurgery saw him. Neuro said that the vents are enlarged, and will follow him with repeat scans. I noticed he has a mild left club foot, Left eye blocked tear duct, and hydrospadius( water around the testicals). So far his head has increased to 14 inches 12 days after birth. He is in the 50-60th growth percentile. I am glad your baby is totally fine!!
