Yay, scan tomorrow, I'm so excited, can't wait to hear what you think about seeing a wee baby inside you.

Hi Manda-May,
I dry heave too, mostly in the shower in the morning and at ~4p. Sometimes a yawn or cough will trigger mine too.

Hope you are feeling better :)

Andrea

Yay for chocolate, my first thing I could eat again was a crunchy, hmmm they were so good.
We don't really have any plans this weekend which is great. Jim bought a dirt bike but it's a lemon so he's hoping to get his money back. Fingers crossed!
At our scan we got told that because of my age we had a one in 500 chance of downs and that changed to a one in 2000 chance after the scan. The worst thing is having a full bladder, my only tip is don't scull a litre ! hour before, drink a glass or 2 one hour before then sip the rest in the hour leading up to the scan, be prepared as they can push hard and it's hard not to piss your pants....hee hee oh the joy's.
What are you guys up to for the weekend. Are you getting over feeling exhausted all the time yet?

kiwimum - Tuesday, 18 Mar
Hi ya Manda,
Went forr a scan on friday, they say they estimate baby to weight 8lb 13oz so it won't be little when it comes out. They also said it has a head full of hair, will be interested to see if they are right. Went to the ob on monday and the scared the daylights out of me. Told me that because of my conditon that if my waters break i have to get in to a head down bum up postion and call an ambulance, if I start to contract I have to go straight to hospital incase my waters break. HGad two big chats to m midwife, she has been really reasuring and calming. She had a chat to her colleuges and thinks that if my waters break with a gush then do as the doctors say. If they break with a trickle then call her and she will come and assess me. If I start to contract call her and she will come over and assess me. This sits better with me, not so scary or such a drama....don't worry though I know the risks and will play it safe, if I suspect for a minute anything is not normal then I'll be calling an ambulance as at the end of the day a live healthy baby is all that matters!
Not long till your scan, don't get to hung up on it as it is only one thing they can test for, it's normal to worry and i have been told that you never stop. First its will baby be alright and before you know it, it's what time will they be home from the pub!
Love ya heaps, Helen

Thank you so much for your vote of confidence regarding my sanity. I swear it's going to end up MAKING me crazy that everyone just assumes I'm off my rocker because I'm pregnant and a little hormonal. Though, should I be worried that the only people who don't think I'm crazy are other pregnant women? I wonder if that's just like one mental patient assuring another mental patient that nothings wrong with them? lol...hmmm...

kiwimum - Thursday, 13 Mar
Oh my goodness, your 11 weeks pregnant and it's not long till your scan now. Are you excited or nervous about your scan? You should be so excited as it kind of makes it all real. You think 'goodness no wonder I have been so sick and tired, it takes a lot of energy to grow a whole person'. Get them to email the pics to you so they are easy to post, can't wait to see a wee manda/ justin cross. Lots of love!!

kiwimum - Monday, 10 Mar
I hear you big chicken, keep on clucking!!!!
Hang in there, hopefully you'll be the size of a whale in no time like I was and then everyone will be at your beck and call.
Think if baby has Young for an last name that oldroy would be a good first name. Lots of love Helen, and the ever growing Lumpy , whom by the way is good, 3/5ths engaged as of last week for what ever that means.

Hi Manda, feeling much better now which is great, must have been a bug from work as two of the girls I work with had it too. Sure i'll clean your house, i'll just pop over this arvo so leave a key under the front door mat for me...tee hee. Yes i have now made 2 chicken casseroles enough for 4 nights, 2 lots of tom soup and a vege chicken thing for pasta, tomorrow i'll do lasagne and a beef casserole which will hopefully be another 4 nights worth. Jim was away last night for work, hoping he gets back in time for antenatal tonight. Poor justin, he always gets knocked down by the flu, jusy wait till you have a child in the house, he gonna get so sick. So have you made any decisions about the house, whether you'll be an at home mum or work full/part time etc, or are you waiting until it's 'safe' before you start the hard talks?
Work must have gone peers shaped as one of the teachers in my room managed to break her ankle and dislocate her knee over the weekend so will e on acc for the naxt 4-6 weeks, thats 2 staff members down, my oh my. Well must away, washing to hang and chores to do....oh joy!

kiwimum - Monday, 3 Mar
I promise you will be able to eat sweets again soon....it will pass, but in the mean time try salt and vinger chips! Was a busy day, went to appointment at the hospital and all is good. They are not really concerned about anything which is great news. Have to go back at 38 weeks for yet another scan and a follow up appointment. Came home and unleashed the nesting. Now have tomato soup made from scratch in the freezer, and chichen and vege pasta sauce, the lounge and kitchen are gleeming, so nice to have a clean house, will work on the other end of the house tomorrow. Spent all of yesterday with Vomiting and diaorreaha, lost 2 kg in a day....yuk!
Well must away, not long now till you can tell the world your about to release a manda justin cross!
Lots of love Helen

Hi Manda,
yes sweet food...Jim was amazed that he could leave chocolate in the pantry ans a month later it was still there. He reaconed that was proof that I was unwell.
Last day at work yesterday, had a surprise morning tea with all the centre children and managers of the gym, reception, and our big manager, also the CEO of the christchurch Y peter came too, I felt very special. Got a basket full of bath wash and baby lotions and cream and nice smellies for me and a vouvher for farmers. Went and spent it today on a baby play gym which is very cool so Jim and I put it together to have a look at it, max didn't like it....maybe he smells a rat.
Saw Liz on thursday after my scan, baby's growth has slowed down, will still be big as wieghs 7 pound now but not a big concern and the polyhydramnios is still there but is a mild case. Go to see specialist on monday, Liz reacons they won't want me to go past 41 weeks....personally hope lumpy gets evicted before then.
Went and brought a cloth nappy system today so we can be all environmentaly friendly.
Church is have a afetrnoon tea/baby shower for me next weekend which is cool.
Look now like Jim won't be going to switzerland till the end of the year which is probably better timing.
Well better go, have a BBQ next door tonight but need to have a wee kip first as am A bit tired, take care, Love to all, Helen, jim and lumpy

kiwimum - Sunday, 24 Feb
The outfit is a little white velour hoodie and pants with a lime green t-shirt, very cute, has a green applicaed 'huggable' on the front, and a teddy on the t-shirt.
How was yum cha...does Mon know? We haven't found a decent yum cha down here yet, shame I do miss it. We have how ever finally found a good thai restaurant, YAY!
One of my nanny friend ahs just told me she is pregnant due the same time as you and also Sarah's bestfriend Fiona is also pregnant must be around the same time as you too...we are all turning into breeders, teee heee.
Apart from the money I would love to do jury duty, wonder if Justin will get picked, wounder what case is going that would last for four weeks, something big!
Em is good, she is busy trying to get pregnant before Nik goes in april. I have everything crossed for her. Think in a way if she gets up the duff before he goes she will cope better, instead of feeling angry and helpless and having 6 months to wait and think. Just posted a pic of 35 week belly but on the site it doesn't look like I have grown that much, in reality i have. Now have general public touching me all the time and asking when I'm due...was bound to happen. Some people are sweet about it others you just think leave me alone!!!!
Last week of work, thank goodness, just starting to find it all very hard and get so tired afetr a week of it. As of next week I can nana nap every day, watch Dr Phil and nest. Can't wait, have an overwhelming desire to clean....crazy.
Well better go, need to cook dinner, bloody hot down here today!! you have choosen a far better time to be pregnant!!! or rather it chose you :-) bog loves to all

kiwimum - Friday, 22 Feb
So exciting...first scan, take tissues, if you don't need them for tears you'll need them to get all that bloody lube off!
Have appointment with Liz on wednesday and scan on thursday, see how big that baby is now. Think it's sitting very low these days as I think I'm starting to waddle. Went and bought an outfit for the baby this morning....don't tell Jim.
Looks like Jim is off to switzerland in mid april. He will be sent there for some training which he is very excited about. Not the best timing but I wouldn't want him to stop me if I ever got the chance to travel.
Well better go. Love Helen

kiwimum - Friday, 22 Feb
Hello, were both on at the same time!!!

kiwimum - Wednesday, 20 Feb
Hey Manda and Mint,
So glad that you have found someone that 'fits' you guys, it is so important I think as when it comes to the crunch you have to feel comfortable with this person and trust them 100%.
So you get to book your first scan, that is a cool and exciting day. Thats how I told everyone at worrk I was pregnant, I just took in the scan and showed them. Was a very cool day, hugs all round.
Yes it's getting closer and closer to my due date. We had antenatal last night...you will need to book your classes soon as they book up pretty quickly (or at least they do down here, had to enrolled by the time I was 10 weeks). Last night was all about what drugs we could have and the pro's and con's, plus c-sections and inductions...wasn't worried before but am a little now, it's kind of scary and overwhelming.
Yes I was very tired around week 6-9, jim said it was like living on his own again, I was either at work, asleep or lying on the couch.
Have just over 1 week of work left, am so tired right now, think maybe I have been pushing myself a little to hard and making this look to easy. Jim asked me what I had planned for the day, told him and he said 'is that it'. As you know haven't been one to whinge during pregnancy, but responded by telling him exactly how I feel. Hope he gets it now!
Well I better go, it's my day off today but am going in for a couple of hours as we are under staffed and so busy at the moment.
Take care, remember to eat...love Helen

kiwimum - Tuesday, 19 Feb
Hi Manda,
Just got off the phone from Katie, she tells me that you and Justin meet with a mid wife who was a good match for you guys. Thats so cool. Here that your doing well and not to sickly, she even said that you were looking really good...lucky cow at your stage I had people at work telling me how awful I looked. think it might have been the slight green colour to my skin matched with the big black bags under my eyes.
Hope all is good, lots of love Helen

Hey hey Amanda,
I am so glad to hear you do have such a large choice even though it may be over whelming. More is always better than none or one in my case. :-) I wonder if the same scanning you will be doing is what my Dr. is thinking about. I think I may use your method and see about my families past so I can answer him if he asks. I know twins run on both sides of the family, but that is as far as my knowledge goes. You know I heard the worse the m/s you may be carrying multiples. You may be one of the lucky ones :-) I do hope the symptoms ease up for you. Luckily I have yet to feel my symptoms get any worse. I have to keep my finger crossed for us both. By the way… were you able to find a lead maternity carer? (LOL) That is too cute… your little wives tale to figure the gender. Well I know with all the care you have for your little one s/he should come out healthy as can be. Have you and Justin started looking for items for your little one yet? Or are you enjoying the pregnancy portion? I have been so excited… I don’t know what it is… But I have been price checking / window shopping (to get in a little exercise) cause I want to plan. I know reality will set in soon to let me know I have a while yet to make these decisions. Thanks goodness I have not gotten brave enough to purchase anything. Well I hope your Monday is a good start to a great week. Take it easy. ~ Erika
