Message to all: This message is not intended for any one person, but a general statement to all members of the site. After hearing what you all think in regards to posting photos on the forums, we have modified the rules and ask that everyone familiarize yourself so that the site continues to remain friendly for everyone, including new members. In an effort to be respectful of all members of the site, we ask that members do not post more than ONE photo or video per person in the weekly, monthly and information forums. Your ONE picture should be small in size as well. Any large photos will be deleted. You are welcome to post as many pictures as you would like in the photo books, which were created for the purpose of sharing and viewing photos. You may also post as many blogs as you would like with photos in them. We understand that many members enjoy posting and viewing pictures on the forums, but this is not where they belong. We must keep the pictures on the boards to a minimum so that the written comments can continued to be written and read. Otherwise, the numerous amounts of large pictures squash the messages and they become missed. We ask that this modification be respected, therefore any member that continues to post numerous pictures a day will be deleted from the site. Thank you all for helping us keep the site friendly and welcoming for all members.

Message to all: In the last 2 years you all posted 1.1 million photos to the site, and that needs a little maintenance. We are currently renaming all photos from the personal photobooks in order to speed up the site. Some, or all your photos may not show while we are working on the photobooks. You don't have to do anything. We hope to have all photos sorted in about 24 hours from now. You can upload new photos to your photobook while the computer is working on your other photos. Thanks for reading.

hi, just got ur msg. thank u...trying to hang in there. my mastitis is almost cleared up and i plan on trying again (been pumping cuz it was too painful). i fed him last night by breast and it wasnt too bad so we'll see how today goes.
thanx again!

mountainmama - Saturday, 15 November
i was having a similar problem w/ my baby....for some reason she would cry when i gave her my right breast. i found changing positions helped, so i started feeding her lying down--turns out that she was starting to teeth. maybe lying down was less pressure on her gums? idk, but worth a shot if you haven't already.

Hi michelles. Is there anything in your little ones mouth? My mother-in-law once told me that happened with one of her children and she had a sore in the back of her throat. Good luck and hope things get better!

Hey Michelle I added photos look at them!

They say if your exclusively breast feeding your period could start anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months. I would enjoy it's non-arrival :) I'm exclusively pumping breast milk and then bottle feeding it to my little guy, and mine started exactly 1 month to the day of giving birth :( I forgot how much I didn't like my period...

Right now we're giving her 6 ounces at bedtime. During the day she gets 4-5 ounces if I pump and feed her. We were trying to decide if we should give her 7 oz at bedtime, but since she seems happy with 6 we decided to wait and see when she acts like it's not enough. She's really crazy though. She is trying to fall asleep when we feed her, but when she's done and we burp her, she opens her eyes wide and pretends like she doesn't want to sleep. I've started lying down with her and she falls asleep quickly, then she goes into her own bed. Bad habit I know, but I am tired at bedtime, lol

My daughter is breastfed and she sleeps 7 hours at night most of the time. We have started giving her a bottle of breast milk before bed, so that we can be sure she's getting a LOT of milk to keep her tummy full longer. If she does wake up, we try and give her the pacifier. Also if we wake up and feed her we turn on the hall light, but not the light in her room. That way we can see, but it's not super bright for her. She usually goes right back to sleep. I think making sure she is eating more milk at bedtime is helping her sleep longer, but I don't know for sure.

Hi, my little girl does the same thing, when she gets upset she pulls her hair and then she cries even more

I read your post and I know you are getting conflicting advice. I am no doctor but I do NOT think your baby has colic. I went through the same pattern with my son- every night for a few hours. He would stiffen up and scream his head off and his face would turn red. I concluded it was gas build-up after doing some research especially because of the stiffening up. A few tips that helped me: rub his belly around his belly button in a clockwise motion to help move the gas bubbles along, pump his legs back and forth (like a bicycle), take both legs and press them gently towards his chest to get the gas moving along, and try Mylicon drops. The other thing I did was to put just a little extra water in his bottles of formula- no more than 1/2 oz or so because I read that the iron in the formula can cause gas and constipation. When all else failed we put him on our shoulder and walked around patting him on the back. The movement helped get the gas moving and soon he was tooting the gas out!! LOL Also, time helped. As the weeks passed and his digestive system matured, the gas reduced on its own. Let us know how it goes.

if you are worried about the gas, i use Little Tummies gas drops. It seems to help my little one. I don't eat spicy anymore bc it was making it hard for him to sleep. I cut out chocolate, onion, coffee, garlic, and spicy food and it helps him :)

my baby breastfeed every 1-2 hours until she was about 8 weeks old and then she started to go a bit longer. now she's 4 months old & drinks every 3-4 hours and up to 6 hours at night (if i'm lucky ;)) what you're saying for your 5 week old seems about right to me!

carolynjh - Friday, 24 October
Your breastfeeding schedule may stay like this a little longer, breastmilk is digested faster than formula. Keep your own fluid intake up to help with your production and try feeding a couple times closer together before bedtime to get baby extra full? My first didn't sleep thru the night until she started on baby food at 7 mths old. My 2nd sleeps now from 8pm to 4am and then until 7 or so and she is now 12 weeks. Hope you get more sleep soon, I know exactly what you're going thru!

cammie - Friday, 24 October

So I did good last month I only gained 3 pounds. I literally do the same thing every morning. I will continue to try to keep pushing myself. Thanks Boss Lady!

Cailet - Friday, 17 October
my baby had the eye gunk too. Hers was sometimes crusty stuff and sometimes it almost looked like snot attached to her eyelashes. Hers was a blocked tear duct. We've been massaging her tear duct a few times a day. What I read said to press down on the tear duct in the corner of their eye, on the skin just under their eye closest to their nose. Press for just a little bit then wipe out (under their eye) towards the side of her face. It said to do this 5 times in a row, 3 times a day. It's helped a lot and she barely has any of the extra fluid left. I think I'm supposed to do it for a week, maybe two. I can't remember, I just figured I would stop when it's all gone!

cammie - Tuesday, 14 October
I got the photos! They are so cute I love the hand one thats adorable he looks so peaceful. I'll put some pictures up as soon as I take some. Work is ok. Of course I'd rather have it off and be at home where people dont irritate me. But I have my good days and my bad days so I been taking it day by day. Honestly I do feel a lot better on weekends when I sleep in and I feel rested. Getting up early seems to just be getting harder. I went to a verbal for being late. So I have 2 more chances before I get fired so I have to make it a point to be on time at least until the end of Jan. when that ends. I also had to get used to coming from Richmond so that didnt help. But I have an appt. on Wed. I'll let you know how that goes I hope I dont gain too much weight this time. Last time I gained 8 pounds in one month! IM FAT!

cammie - Sunday, 12 October
Hi! I havent written in awhile because I know your busy with the baby. How is he? and you guys? Im sure you guys are fine. I been better lately I actually had a bad morning I didnt make it to the restroom when I was going to throw up and I had to run to the lingerie garbage can. But all the other days I been ok I get nauseous when its time to eat. But I actually been alot better than the first couple months. Im huge already everyone thinks I'm having a girl. I feel a girl too. Mon. is my 16th week. I find out what I'm having on Nov.3 I think I'll be 18 or 19 weeks then but I will let you know that same day. I have some names too but I wanna wait until I find out then I'll tell. I think my feet are getting swollen already and my fingers a little. I have a feeling that I'm gonna have the opposite pregnancy that you had. Well write me back when you get a chance. Tell me everything hows breastfeeding? How was the labor? Did everything go smooth? K ttyl.

You can tell if he has thrush by wipeing his tongue off with a cloth, if the white comes off then it is just milk and not thrush, you might not see the white on the cloth so look at his tongue to see if any came off. Also, you might want to pump some milk to make sure everything is easily flowing well, he could be fussy during and after feedings because he isnt getting enough to eat.. hope this helps some..

libbaby4 - Friday, 10 October
That isn't a stupid question at all!! I talked to my pediatrician about it. I would personally start there. Maybe they could give you something as well. I think most times, the pediatrician ends up diagnosing it b/c the baby goes to the doctor so much in these first few months and we only go back once.

libbaby4 - Friday, 10 October
Hey hun, it does sound like the beginning of thrush. I was worried that my little guy had it and I asked the doctor about it (b/c I had mastitis at the time and was still having a lot of pain despite being on antibiotics for 5 days). She told me that with thrush you get a tingling, almost like pins and needles. So, I hope it isn't thrush, but you might want to go ahead and get that checked out.
