metalstar83 - Wednesday, 8 October Thawed breast milk is only good for 24hrs. after taken out of the freezer. I know this because if you smell it when its been sitting for a day or two it will smell sour. Regular breast milk will stay for up to 7days.

Hi there,
I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.
We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.
If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.
You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

angelag3girls - Friday, 26 September I know what you mean about an aggressive nurser! Have you tried other positions? I have found that the football hold tends not to hurt as much. At night time I lay down and nurse too which gives a new position. I think we are fighting thrush so I have been quite sore myself. It is common for them to be better on one side or prefer one side over the other and thats another way position changes come in handy. You can kinda trick them into thinking they are on the same side. You seem to be doing all you can just keep an eye out for infection.

Parkersmommy1 - Thursday, 25 September no problem. my latch was great when i left the hospital, but i think he got lazy. the only thing is, i used the football hold, and he has a great latch cradle now with that video, but he wont lay that way!
monikaoh - Wednesday, 24 September I used nipple shield till my nipple healed. Applying your milk and air drying helps, too. Good luck!
mountainmama - Wednesday, 24 September you can try lanolin for cracked nipples or put breastmilk on them. my lactation consultant said not to use soap on your nipples b/c that can dry them out. my nipples were sooooo sore at first then one day it didn't hurt anymore. something to look forward to!
mommad - Wednesday, 24 September I never used lanolin. My bf consultant told me the best thing for my nipples was breastmilk. Squeeze a little out and rub in on your nipple. To prevent infection keep your hands washed good and wash your breasts with warm water.
angelag3girls - Wednesday, 24 September Are you using lanolin? If not you can use that after every feed and if you have a long span where you don't nurse like night time then you can use neosporin or a and d ointment but you will need to wipe that one off before nursing. And yes its still ok to nurse, you need to be able to keep the supply up. If pumping doesn't hurt then you could take a break hear and there and just pump. If you start getting a fever, the breast feels real hot, a red streak on your breast then contact your doctor. I hope this helps.
Parkersmommy1 - Wednesday, 24 September heres a site that i found a few days ago. it has helped me with my sons latch. hes 8 weeks old, and he had a good latch, but i think we both got tired and lazy when it came to latching. also, i was always panicking on whether or not he was actually eating, and it put my mind to ease. http://www.thebirthden.com/Newman.html
smurfwxmama - Tuesday, 23 September Oh now that looks very comfortable, makes me want one just like it!
He's gorgeous!
smurfwxmama - Tuesday, 23 September This is adorable! We did the nautical theme, there are sailboats and lighthouses all over his room!
smurfwxmama - Tuesday, 23 September I had the same problem with a cracked nipple, it bled a little even at times, but what I did was use a lot of the nurseing balm stick that you can get, looks like chap stick for your nipples, use that before and after, and also if you express a little bm and rub that into/onto your nipple that is supposed to help as well. Your gonna have to feed on it as that is the only way to get your nipples used to the pain and what not, and I know it hurts, trust me I know that one but after a few weeks(yes I said weeks) your nipples will be real pros and they won't hurt anymore, I've been breastfeeding almost 3 mths and it took between 4-6 wks for the pain to go away completely from nursing. If you use the balm lots that crack should get better within a few days. Best of luck, and I hope this helped, I'm here if you need anything else, I don't know everything by any means but it always helps to get another opinion! have a good rest of the week!
