Thanks Michelle. I remember with my first, the childbirth instructor had told the husbands and other support people to say things like, "good job!" and "you can do it, honey!" but my husband figured I'd whack him if he said something so condescending, and normally I probably would have, but tell your man that even trite over-used platitudes are welcome when you're actually there. He did make me laugh though, and that's definitely good. I'm so looking forward to this appointment tomorrow. I hope they give me a date that's sooner rather than later, not so much because I'm impatient to have my little one, but because I'm scared of going into labor and having to get back to the hospital in a panic ~ it's too far away (over an hour's drive). Anyway, hope all goes well with you and your precious one. We seem to be gradually getting some babies born, between us as a group, hey!

It is normal to spot for about 48 hrs after an internal exam or after sex at this point in our pregnancies. The cervix is really tender and getting ready for the baby. We are almost there!! Good luck

Thanks Michelle, yeah she's a pretty cat. Definitely one of those cats that have "staff" rather than "owners"!!

I have been putting vasoline on my nipples after my showers. I figured it wouldn't hurt since the cracking comes from your nipples drying out. Not sure if it will help or not but I figured I would give it a go. I haven't bought any lansanoh(sp) yet I guess I should.

yup that's a real scan lol!! I will be putting in his scrap book for sure. The list you have would be good :) thanks for the tips.

From what I have read all you need to do is make sure all your breast tissue is fitting in the cup and the wire is not resting on your breast. They also say if you feel like you are getting a clogged duct or mastitis then avoid them until you have it under control. I didn't see anywere where it said it can cause those problems. I will keep an eye out and let you know if I hear anything different or new.

I think I logged on too late for the nursing bra question. Just in case you didn't see my post, try duematernity.com or mom4life.com for pretty nursing bras. Mom4life has quite a few pretty lacy ones.

Gosh that is expensive I know we can get them here in New Zealand for about NZ $70 and our dollar is worth about 70US cents so maybe see if any sights in NZ will ship to the states.....good luck! They are lovely aren't they.

judi - Sunday, 24 August
Yeah, the time difference is a pain, but yeah, the baby pages are good, and I really hope to catch up with you all there (soon!)

Hi ya,
Sexy nursing bras....there is a company in New Zealand that has made this a specialty, you should be able to buy them over the net, the brand is "Hot Milk", they are fab and really nice. Just google them!

Baby's are actually pretty gentle, and when you get a good latch on, it's comfortable and nice. I tried to express with my first, as the MIL wanted to feed him, too, but it hurt too much so she just had to deal with that. As it turned out, she couldn't even babysit him for a couple of hours, because he was a real "mamma's boy" and just cried and cried whenever I tried leaving him with her. Which was fine with me, incidentally.

When my second and third babies were born premmie (both close to 32 weeks, although 2 years apart), I had to express breast milk for their feeds, as they were too immature to suck and had to be given my milk through a tube thing for the first few days. So I tried pumping again, but resorted to expressing by hand (just squeezing gently with my hands rather than using any type of pump). I still found it very hard, and to get the required dosage for each feed, I had to often "top it up" with formula, but once they could suck, I just got them onto breastfeeding exclusively. Only the second of those premmies (baby #3) didn't really thrive, so I put her on solid food when she was only a couple of months old. Didn't need to pump to feed babies number 4 or 5, thankfully, and I'm hoping to breastfeed this one, too. I was working full time when I had babies 1, 2, 3 and 4, but was able to come home at morning tea and lunch times, so never needed to pump milk, but if you do need to, I wish you all the best. A lot of mothers pump quite successfully for months on end, so maybe you'll get the hang of it, where I failed! Good luck!

I am actually an RN also, so I feel pretty educated on this and one of my best friends is a vaccine rep for Merck so I am always asking her opinion. Basically, it does come down to how you feel and your decisions that you feel comfortable with. They will always say that the vaccines is less of a risk than getting the actual disease, which I do tend to agree with. My children have had all of the vaccines, just we do tend to stagger them apart and not do so many at once, and I do not like the 5 in one type vaccines. They say oh, it's less shots for the baby, but you know I would rather them be on the safe side and get more shots and have the vaccines spread out. Also, I like to get the shots one in seperate legs rather than two in the same leg...I feel it spreads out the vaccines so it's not to much for the muscle to absorb at once. IN my state, most of the shots are required to enter Kindergarten, even chickenpox, which I think that shot should be optional. We never had as kids, we all did just fine, but I dont like this being mandatory as it wont cause death ( extremely rare) unlike some of the othe rthings vaccines try to prevent. I hope I have helped some, feel free to ask me any questions. If I don't know the answer, I could always ask my friend since she has the trial studies on many vaccines. Brenda

I know what you mean about Baby running out of room - every time she moves it feels like she's going to break out of there! I wish I could get a scan at this point and see how she's squeezed in! Since I've started wondering if we should plan a c-section, I'm feeling like we're running out of time, so things are not dragging the way they were.

I hope your shower this weekend is fantastic and that you have a lovely time with all your family. How exciting!!

Cammie - Friday, 8 August
Oh! Have fun at your Baby Shower! I cant wait till we have ours for you at work "Season Start Potluck".
