eastern-Canadian-Lady - Tuesday, 3 June It's good to know that I won't have diabetes after. I am still a little bit worried about what the doc will say after the three hour test. I can't eat anything with sugar, or I get really ill. I don't think I will ever be able to love chocolate the same way again, LOL.
Thanks for lending me your shoulder. Guys just don't understand what it's like. My h is really good, but he doesn't really understand the guilt that I feel for the baby measuring small. I tried to explain that the baby isn't growing well bc I'm hardly eating, and I keep worrying that the baby will come early.
He is so nice, really he is, he said "It's not just that you aren't eating, but everything you do eat goes right through you or comes back to haunt you in ten minutes. How can that possibly be your fault. Are you making yourself sick? I don't think so. It's hormones. We will get "Barely There" here and she (he thinks) can grow after. Right now, even if she (I say he) is born this early, she would be better off bc she could get more nutrients from your milk than what you are eating. If she comes early it will all be ok." He is supportive, and I am very thankful and lucky to have him.
Anyway, I feel all lovey, gotta go find him. Hormones are making me teary right now. ttyl, and thanks again. take care, E-C-L
eastern-Canadian-Lady - Sunday, 1 June Thanks, I was totally freaking out, and I still am somewhat. I am glad that they are doing a second test. I want to know why I had a reading of 8.8 (they want it under 7.8) when all I had to eat that day was an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie at 7 am, and the test started at noon, with blood being taken at 1. I thought for sure it would have been out of my system by then. I asked my ob/gyn about it too, and he said that it wouldn't have affected the reading. I know I don't like anything even remotely sweet since I got pregnant, not even yogurt. I have been seeing a nutritionist once a month since February bc I haven't been able to eat and they were very concerned for the baby bc I had lost 10 lbs in one month. I was hoping to speak with a dietitian at the hospital before my u/s the other day, but I ran out of time. She works right in the hospital and it's free to see her, maybe she will be in one day this week. I imagine a dietitian would have more info than the nutritionist, but I plan to continue to see her. I figure the more support the better. Did you ever have gestational diabetes? Once the baby is born, it shoudl go away right? Or will I be at a higher risk for regular diabetes? My aunt and grandfather had it bad. My aunt died from pancreatic cancer bc of her diabetes when I was pregnant with my daughter.
Anyway, today was a pretty good day. I only had a few contraction, but I felt them coming on while walking around in Wal-Mart. We were looking for birthday gifts for my h. I was at the end of an isle, so I stopped and sat on the floor, LOL. I was only there a few minutes, then we walked to the MacDonald's that is located in the store. I sat for about twenty minutes and felt much better afterwards. I have only had a few very mild ones since. i guess resting really works.
Any plans this weekend? I plan to lay pretty low this weekend, since the moving job is FINALLY finished. I suppose I should get going. take care, E-C-L
eastern-Canadian-Lady - Saturday, 31 May Thanks for the reply. I was with the ob/gyn when the first contraction happened REALLY bad. (I never had one like that since I was into the third hour of labour with my daughter. ) He saw the difference in my belly, then he felt my belly and remarked that my belly was "really tight". I also found out that I failed my first gestational diabetes screening during that same appointment. (I am so upset by it. they didn't give any advice, which is scary bc I don't know what to avoid. I am still not able to eat very much, so I don't know how I am going to avoid the few foods that I can tolerate.) I told him that everybody knows that when a woman has diabetes they have big babies, but if I am losing weight and my baby is showing so small AND I have diabetes, then what does that mean for my baby???? He looked really worried, as he has before when he told me other things. He told me to try not to worry, that we will do a three hour test, an ultrasound to determine the baby's growth (which was done the next day) and then we will see where to go from there. But then he said he no longer wants to wait two weeks between appointment. (I was seeing him, then two weeks later with my family doc, then two weeks later I was going back) He wants me to see him one week and my family doc the next week, until delivery. He seems to be hinting at is going to be quite early. He asked me to rest a lot, to try not to focus too much on emptying boxes from my move. I was contracting so much since the appointment on Wed that it's crazy, but today there are much less of them than before. i am glad to hear that BH and a likely cause. Can the baby feel them? I don't think it would hurt, maybe massage the baby. Baby is head down now, but no fluid is leaking, so that is a good sign. thanks for replying, Itrelly helps me to not worry when other people say that it happenend to them too! I hope that things are well with you and your baby. take care, E-C-L
