sparklyval - Wednesday, 29 October Hi! Just a quick note to say hello and to see how things are going with Shawn? I noticed that you have added some new photographs - you are much more organised than me! I have barely had chance to get on to this site to read my messages, let alone update anything! In fact this is the first time I have actually written a message in over a week.
Is Shawn settling in to your family OK? I feel quite lucky that on the whole Erin is fairly settled - we are no way near trying to fix upon any kind of routine, but at least she is feeding well and gaining weight (she put on about 9ozs in just over a week). She is sleeping for a stretch of 3-4 hours at night which is lovely, although on the whole she only manages a couple of hours between feeds during the day.
Are you still breastfeeding Shawn? I hope that you are finding it a bit easier going now. I remember my first daughter was just the same as Shawn - she would feed for a few minutes and then fall asleep. There didn't seem to be much that I could do to keep her awake...it just got easier over time.
Things have been a bit chaotic! Last Friday (24th) was Bethan's 9th birthday. We had a party for her and Kate on Saturday at the 10 pin bowling centre, which was good fun. Then with half term this week I have been struggling a little bit though with all 3 girls at home! I just don't have enough pairs of hands!! Thankfully Antony has booked Friday off work and is planning to take the two older girls to the cinema leaving me with just baby Erin for a bit. So, only tomorrow to survive and then Antony will be around for a few days!!
I had better try and send a few more messages, so will say goodbye for now. I hope that you are well and managing to get enough rest. Best wishes Val x
sabina25 - Wednesday, 29 October Hi.. just to let you know that I had my son, Dion last week, he is 7 days old now and feel's like I have known him forever. I have put pics up on my profile and would love you to see how cute he is...not that I am biased.. ha ha. Hope you are well and doing great xxx
kittykat13 - Tuesday, 28 October Thanks! You're lil guy is adorable!! How is your lil one?? How are you?? I love being a new mommy and also now realize that mommyhood is very challenging lol...but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
lindz - Monday, 27 October I have Leila's birth story and photos posted now... feel free to check
emb17 - Monday, 27 October My other half eyes pop out of his head when I wake up with melons. If only they new how much they hurt!
I had one of my step son's here this weekend! The two boys have played really well together but the mess they have left behind them is exhausting just to look at! Every time I put Lisia down to sleep so I can sort it out she starts screaming again. My other half thank fully seams to have switched off to it. But I worry about it, I know I shouldn't but like every mum on this site it bothers me.
I think it is just the tiredness getting to me more than anything.
Nina-first-time-mummy - Sunday, 26 October hiya i had my little boy on 22nd by c-section i was in labour for 3 painful days he is worth it though!
he weighs 10 pound 7 and is gawgus we both came home friday night and its amazing how are you feeling and hows the baby? take care xx
lindz - Sunday, 26 October Hey I'm back! Srry... I has AWOL for a month and a half... Leila came unexpectedly and I spent 10 days at the hospital.... now we r home and safe
*dcsfantasticfour - Sunday, 26 October lol nope our boobs belong to them now. Everytime I try to do anything and I hand baby to daddy not even 5 min pass and shes crying and trying to suck on her hand.... Grrrrr. Some days I just can't take it and I have daddy give her a bottle but thats maybe 2-3 times a week. But let me tell ya I want to breast feed but at the same time I just want to give in ya know!
*dcsfantasticfour - Saturday, 25 October LOL happy boobies to you too hehehehe , unfortunatly Im now starting to have problems breastfeeding ... I had surgery on my left breast 4yrs ago and I had some fears that I wouldn't be able to breastfeed on my left side, Dr's told me that it should be fine.... well here I am my 2nd week into breastfeeding and as I feared my left breast is starting to stop making milk no matter how long I nurse her on the one side. .... so Im still trying but since the one is quitting on me my other side is over compansating, so now my right boob is like almost 2 sizes larger then my left side! Grrrrrrrr
ArmyWife-n-TX - Saturday, 25 October Hey Sharra. Definately try stripping the little guy down to just his diaper, tickling his feet, etc. Just try to make him as uncomfortable as possible. Also keep a wet wash cloth nearby to give him a little chill. Something I've done with my son is don't let him use you as a pacifier! I've given Jonathan a pacifier after his feedings when he'd fall asleep at the boob. He didn't like it much, but used in combination with every other trick to make him mad and keep him awake during feedings, he soon learned he better stay awake and eat. Also he was more hungry. He now eats every 5-7 hrs, is 3 weeks old, and weighs over 10 lbs. So he's a very healthy breast-fed baby!!! Good luck with everything!
annie and wayne - Saturday, 25 October hiya hun my kaitlyn is a day older than ur shaun its tiring breastfeedin but stick to ur guns hun u can do it , somedays she only has`little feeds and others i never seem to have her off the breast but it will be worth it in the long run, im going to add some new pics now although i think she was 4 days old on them lol, i feel groggy still bleeding and my stitches kill and may have to be readmitted to hospital in a few weeks as some on the right hand side have come loose grrrrr as if we havent had enough to deal with lately xxx
maha55 - Saturday, 25 October ..thanks darlin' hope u doing well...am still in adjustment phase!! broken sleep and aminah been quite windy and unsettled last days but found some good drops that eased her pain and we had better day and night..can be v challenging to adjust to after years of good nights sleep!!!
but i am surrendered to just staying home for the baby moon (6 weeks)..lots of tv watching..cups of tea and sitting in stillness breastfeeding..thank goodness for the hormones!!!!! xx
roro73 - Saturday, 25 October I am having the postpartum blues too. I cry out of the blue too. Our hormones are still out of whack. I am hoping Harrison gets a better sleep schedule. I am wiped out.
How is the baby?
melmel23 - Friday, 24 October hey sharra....they told me to tickle the baby's feet and hands and to strip the baby down to his diaper only...don't let him be to comfortable while feeding so he won't fall asleep...it works for me...my problem is proper latch on...my nipples hurt and sting so bad that i've been pumping lately and feeding it to him from a bottle.:(
emb17 - Friday, 24 October SNAP! I think we forget soo quickly all the pain and suffering we go through. But also it gets worse the more we have! But they are soooooooo worth every moment.
Try tickling your little man under the chin when he stops chewing. I find that works for me, but they are all different. I was telling a friend last night (who hasn't yet had a baby) That I think it takes about 2 weeks for even experianced mums to get the hang of breast feeding again. esp as when your milk comes in you can feel totally massive.
Take care, eat what you need, and try and get some rest.
*dcsfantasticfour - Friday, 24 October I feel ya about the breast feeding thing.... Colette is literaly attatched to me at all times... as a matter of fact shes on my boob right now lol! Colette also falls asleep while feeding so what I do is burp her and it usually gets her pretty active again so I can feed her some more. shes gained 1 pound in a week so I must be doing something right! You take care and please keep in touch
