what about the similaic soy? I have a can that I got as a sample from the hospital. I just got the dr. brown bottles. No problems with soy from just three weeks? Thank you so much for answering.

I am hoping that this is what is wrong.

Thanks, I went and bought some rice cereal today in case I decide to try it. I am just worried about it being too harsh for his little tummy...But, I have read that docs recommend it for babies that have reflux, so if it's ok for them when they have a condition that requires it, then it should be ok for mine. I'm gonna give him another couple of days, the spitting up is getting better, I've done several things the doc told me to do. But, he's wanting to eat every couple of hours, and will only eat maybe 2 oz, so I want to see if I can get him eating more before I start the cereal. Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for the advice. I am a little leary of feeding him cereal at such a young age, but so many people have told me to try it. I'm thinking it would help with sleeping as well (he is getting up every couple of hours to eat). I may decide to try it soon. I am using the Dr. Brown bottles too, when you added the cereal, did you still use the vent thingy in the bottles?

Hi, I saw your pic with your two month old in the Bumbo seat and I had two questions. Would you recommend getting one? How much does your little one weigh because my little girl is 7 weeks old but is TINY still (8.5lbs) and is long and thin so I am wondering if it would work for her yet. Your baby looks about the same size, then again its hard to tell in pictures.Thanks-Holly

yeah. this morning julietta woke up at like 1:30 and then at 7:15 ish. it was so pleasant to wake up and see 7 o clock on the clock rather than 4! haha. have u tried cereal on a spoon or only in the bottle?

aniyahsmom2008 - Saturday, 4 October
Thanks for replying!!! They told me to use Dove also, but not what kind, so I endedup getting the regular kind and I guess thats why its not working. Thanks for the info because I was getting really worried about things. Im gonna go get some today!!

Thanks for the comment. I know I was putting my neck out there when I asked the question because so many mothers have differant thoughts on this subject. And I think its crazy how some of them just fly off the handle if they do not agree, its kind of funny. We all have different babies and they each need something different. I might start trying to put a little cereal in his bottles. Does your little one sleep well? I know some say that cereal helps and others says it does not do a thing for the sleeping. Also you said it helps with spit up. He does not seem to spit up as often or as much as he does but every now and then he has days where he spits up more then others. Thanks again for you post, it is helpful.

I'm now expecting our 2nd baby and I can't wait although I know it will be hard....no empty nest for us!! I hope all goes well as this will be my last pregnancy. Take care!

Thanks I appreciate the response. He is a very considerate and loving husband... I just didn't think he would react that way to pregnancy. It caught me off guard...but most things with pregnancy seem to nowadays :)

Hi I am v passionate about vaccination issues...I live in a v natural open minded place in australia (homebirth, empowered mothers, breastfeeding etc etc)...I read up alot on vaccination and we have a g8 organisation here started by a mother with a vaccination injured child (AVN they have website)..I decided NO WAY and breastfed both my boys for 2 years..i felt a natural vaccination..my 2nd got whooping cough and we rode thru it with love, breastmilk, and gave him all my time..he got thru more healthy than ever..I also read that vaccination can put chn back in terms of emotional/physical development etc..what worries me most is the unnatural substances used from animals, mercury, formaldehide etc all carcionagenic substances...anyway thats my thoughts after lots of research but it is personal decision..RESEARCH everything if u are concerned...I am now 45 1/2 pregnant naturally with baby no. 3....all best to you x

I have heard a lot of moms about their concerns regarding vaccinations. I agree with what everyone else has said here. Educate yourself on both sides of the issue. Some say that the preservative thimerosal (which is a mercury derivative) has been the cause of the link between vaccines and autism. But the thing is vaccine makers are no longer using thimerosal in vaccinations (except some adult ones). Even so, just find out what you can and go from there. It's a personal choice. But I would also encourage you to not let fear be a motivation for whatever you decide.

I had concerns about vaccinations too, and since it is such a personal choice, I will tell you what I did to help me decide--rather than try to tell you what to do. I read a few books and articles about the vaccination issue. I also made sure I found a pediatrician that would not push me into having them if I did not want to. I nursed my son for almost 2 years and never put him in day care, so I had plenty of time to research and think about my options. I ultimatley took the pediatrician's advice, because I trust him and did not feel like he was biased or just pushing me to do what everyone else does. I appreciated his patience and willingness to discuss all my options. So I recommend that you educate yourself and get a great pediatrician. Ultimately, you want to make the decision that you will not regret no matter what and only you know what that decision is. Good luck!

Hi! Congratulations to you and yours on your impending bundle of joy!

I read your concerns regarding vaccinations... it's a contentious issue, but all I have to say to you is educate yourself - check out the web, speak to as many health care professionals as you can, gather info and make up your own mind as to whether it's for you or not. I was sorry to hear about that lady who's child has autism, but do remember that they have no idea what causes autism, nor is there any definitive criteria as to what autism is, that's why there is such a broad spectrum of people that fall into autism. For example, my work colleague's 5 year is hyper-intelligent (honestly has the mentality and vocab of a 12 year old), and is easily bored by his classes - they've labelled him autistic. Also remember that, as sad as it is, when there something wrong with someone's child, especially something as inexplicable as autism (most research on it to date is purely speculative), the parents' minds will of course try to find something to blame for the condition.

In anything, you will have conflicting accounts - for example I received EVERY vaccination, and I was fine - my sister received EVERY vaccination, and she had a severe learning disability and attention deficit disorder... coincidence? Individuality I think.

Anyway, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck - take 'horror stories' into account, but try not to be too swayed either way. Your mind is your own, as is your child. Babies are born and vaccinated by their millions today, with no ill effects.

All the best!

staceyh, with my first kids, I waited to vaccinate until they were at least 6 months (doctors got mad at me for that). After that I did the most crucial vaccines - like polio. I waited with other vacccines until it was time to go to the kindergarten. For the first weeks and months I severily limited people contact to the babies allowing only close relatives to visit. I even refused to take my babies to the doctor office for the first 2 or three months out of fear they catch something bad. Everything was fine. I intend to do something like that this time also. There is very low risk of child becoming autistic because of vaccines (only one case was confirmed so far, and think of how many babies vaccinated each year). But there are numerous other risks including impairement of immune system while it forms. But if you plan to lead social life with your baby from the start, than think about polio and wooping cough being life treatening and still common. Also collect as much info as possible before making decision.
