Adding Rice Cereal to Infant Formula befor 4mo? I`m curious if anybody does this and what the benefits or risks are. I`m from the school of thought that you wait until your baby is 6mo to introduce solid foods but I`ve been hearing about this tactic a lot and I`m curious what moms have to say on the subject.

If you are the type of person who has to work really hard at staying fit and keeping extra weight off (for me that means tiny meals five times a day, about a total of 1100 calories, no refined carbs, no sugar, no dairy, regular exercise, boat loads of vegetables), but put on significant weight during pregnancy thanks to nausea that only simple carbs could stave off and kept putting on weight in second and third trimesters thanks to pregnancy induced starvation—did you:

Is anybody else getting tired of being sent to labor and delivery every time they call their OB with a simple question? I live in NY where liability insurance has gone up in the last year to at least $200k a year per dr. Many Dr’s are closing their practices and moving out of state, or they are joining other much larger practices. Obviously none of them can afford a malpractice suit, or the higher premiums, so every time I call my OB`s office with a question, I get sent to Labor and Delivery `just to make sure it`s nothing`. I realize the Drs are afraid with good reason (I was a juror on a malpractice case last year and we found in favor of the plaintiff (who happened to be dead thanks to that Dr)). But still, I’m getting really tired of being sent to the hospital for monitoring instead of seeing my Dr.

Does anyone worry about kick counting before they go to sleep? I read that you should always make sure you`re baby is moving before you go to bed at night. I do kick counts in the AM when he`s the most active but he`s not active at night and it makes me crazy with worry.

If you were me and you went for your level 2 sonogram but the tech couldn`t finish since the baby was upside down and backwards--then your insurance co said they wouldn`t pay for another scan unless they were 14 days apart, but you decided you were going on Monday and paying for it yourself (since you wanted the peace of mind after a Choroid Plexus Cyst was found, that nothing else was wrong) would you tell the tech to repeat the whole scan?

Does anybody have a coworker that won`t stop touching your belly? One of our secretaries (old enough to be my G`ma) keeps tugging/pulling/grabbing at me to see my belly. I`ve told her several times, kindly, that I`m private about the details of my pregnancy and I don`t wish to be touched, but she won`t leave me alone! Yesterday she pulled at my shirt to try to see how much I am showing. She thinks I`m just being demure and shy, but what I really want is my personal space! Any advice?

Can somebody please tell me if I`m having heartburn? I`ve never had it before so I don`t know what`s happening: I have always loved to eat really spicy foods and tonight, after Thai food, I got these stabbing pains over my left side--by my heart. The few bouts of it lasted a few seconds each and I didn`t want to move around while it was happening because it was really uncomfortable. Is this heartburn? I don`t have any of the reflux symptoms so I`m trying not to worry here! Thanks for your comments.

Has anyone refused a Hepatitis-B shot at baby`s birth? Did you run into trouble, or have difficulty with the hospital? I don`t need judgmental comments--I`ve done enough research to convince me that I don`t want my child pumped with poisons i.e. 2000x the safe limit of toxins such as mercury or formaldehyde—just to name a few. In general, has anyone avoided vaccination as a whole or at least found a Dr who allows you some say in how many shots and when your child receives them?

If the tech doing a 13 week scan asked if we were going to find out the sex of the baby and then said she thought she saw `outdoor plumbing`, would you take her word for it? She printed out the screen which sure showed something that looked more boyish than girlish but can you really tell this early? Please comment if you`ve got any personal experience with such early detection.
