Just curious- I know the history of prejudice in America (and I am SO glad it`s much better - kids in school don`t even understand prejudice over color- thank God!) But I was wondering if there has been racial prejudice in other countries and why (what was the history behind it?) And do you refer to different races the way we do (i.e. African American, Hispanic American, etc.)

Another question for UK or Canada- since your taxes pay for health care, and a lot of health care problems are preventable by life style choices, how do feel about preventable diseases requiring so much resources to treat? In effect, wouldn`t your taxes be higher because of the rising cost due to preventable diseases (certain types of cancers, STDs, certain types of diabetes, etc.)

If you ever had at home daycare or send your child to an at home daycare, would you tell me your thoughts or ideas please? As a gift to our daycare provider (in home), I`d like to send in lunch made for everyone so she doesn`t have to do it. But also a yummy enough lunch for the kids to feel like they got a treat. SAHM-This isn`t meant to be offensive- really just curious. But so many seem discontent with it because of the work load (not the child rearing part). I do the same things and work full time, but it doesn`t bother me much. My DH does help but only a little in the kitchen. Is it really the work load that bothers you or the repetition of the same chores and never feeling accomplishment because something is actually done? I stay at home over the summers and the housework does bog me down, even though it`s the same stuff as normal.

Have you ever had your LO have a bowel movement as a potty trained toddler that seemed to burn the skin around the rectum? My son had 2 BM that was close in time. When I wiped him, his skin was very red and sore. Then, later he was crying about it and it was absolutely raw- and a little poo was leaking out. Anyone else have that happen? Just wondering: if your child used a pacifier for a long time, like a year or more, did they put other things in their mouth all the time? My GF`s children used one for two years, and don`t put things in their mouths. But my sons didn`t like them and didn`t really use them and I still catch my 6 year old putting stuff in his mouth.

How would you feel and what would you do: 10 years ago, I lost a baby at 23 wks. At the birth I gave him a teddy bear that I had already purchased for him beforehand. Now I have a 6 yr old and a 2 yr old and happy and fine about the loss. The bear was up on a shelf but recently got knocked down. Then my two year old adopted it. Would you allow him to keep it or put it back on the shelf since it was from the first baby? I just don`t know how I feel about it. It`s cute to see him love on it, but then I wonder if the wear and tear will bother me later on.

Not a poll but wanted to share this after reading a few comments on another poll. My son used to wet the bed ever since potty training. He is now 6 1/2. My chiropractor has been the one to stop it. He said that once a child is potty trained they shouldn`t wet the bed anymore. It`s often caused by a misalignment that puts pressure on the nerve so they can`t feel it to wake up to go. If you are having problems with this, call a chiropractor- it is very very common and they can fix it very easily. I can tell as soon as my son gets out of alignment- the accidents start and stop right after going to see the chiropractor.

Need advice- I have a picky 18 month old. Only has 8 teeth. I can`t get him to eat any type of meat, only sweet stuff- fruits, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt. Sometimes he just refuses to eat. Do teeth always come in a logical order? My son has four top teeth and only three on the bottom. He looks like the next tooth to come is on the top, but with a space between the other tooth, like where another tooth should be. I don`t know how many teeth toddlers get, but it seems weird.

I`m getting desperate! My LO won`t sleep through the night- he`s almost 8 months. He gets up about 2-3 times on average, sometimes more. I`ve tried everything. Cry It Out is all that`s left to try. Has anyone ever tried one single beer to increase your milk supply? I`m against the alcohol consumption while nursing, but I`m getting desperate! I`ve tried everything I am able to. Drying up may be worse than the alcohol part. I can`t afford to pump and dump either. I`ve already tried fenugreek (hurts baby`s tummy), I drink plenty, pump whenever I can and have taken Reglan. Any other ideas?

Just something I want to share with all you preggos: As a teacher we hear a lot on current brain research. I`ll save you the complex information, but bottom line is that if the mom eats lots of protein while pregnant, a certain part of each brain cell (the axiom) works better. Anything you can do to make learning easier is worth the time! By the way, it is protein, but you can get that from many sources, not just meat.

So tomorrow is the one year anniversary of my good friend`s loss of a pregnancy. She has been trying for over 5 years and that baby was conceived through IVF. So it was pretty devastating. We couldn`t think of a name for our son until a few hours after he was born. I guess then we felt like we HAD to have a name. Well, now he doesn`t really fit the name and we`d like to change it. He`s two months old. What are your thoughts on changing a baby`s name?

Has anyone had a lactose intolerant baby? How can you tell? I have a 5wk old son who cries at the same time every night due to poopy and gas (def. not constipated). The only thing I can think of is that he is reacting to the milk in my cereal because I eat that at the same time every morning. (By the way he is nursed.) Please comment!
