Right now i live with my parents so they have a lot of say and advice when it comes to raising my daugter. One thing ive gotten yelled at which frustrates me is whether i should give dd a meal right before bed. I will ask her over and over if she wants something to eat and she`ll say no until i say its time for bed then she whines that shes hungry and wants to eat. She will have food if i give it to her but i feel like its too late after i have offered food to her so many times but my parents tell me i should feed her bc shes a growing girl. What would you do?

Help.. I put my DD to bed every night around 8:30, but she stays up til 10 or 11 every night reading books, playing in her room, singing. And however I try to tell her, she just stays awake and won`t go to sleep. I took a lot of the stuff in her room out, but I can`t just leave it completely bare, and she`d probably sneak into another room and make a mess. How do I put her to sleep, it seems like she NEVER runs out of energy!

Are any of your SO`s really close to their mom? My SO is, she comes over often and he`ll stay at her house once or twice a month for several days. Maybe it`s strange to me considering noone in my family wants to stay longer than one night at my parents because they`re just..parents. At least with my parents we can`t be around them for more than a day or two!

Frustrated! I`m a single mom, and my daughter will NOT listen to me! In the tub she splashes water all over the floor, lays down so I can`t clean her hair. She only goes to sleep when she wants to, will stay awake playing or talking or doing stuff in her room. She runs away whenever I try to get her to do something. It doesn`t seem like anything works. Our shower curtain (it`s one that is a curtain and liner in one) is stained on the bottom from the shower. I`m guessing this is because it sticks to the tub and gets dirty. I`ve washed it, but the bottom is still off color (slightly brown). Do I bleach it, and if so, do I put it in straight bleach, or a percentage of bleach/water. TIA

Finally polls are working! Anyway, today, I picked up my almost 3 year old DD from a babysitter, whom there is a little girl she played with. She had fun and didn`t want to leave, so as we went out the front, she started running away on the sidewalk. I tried everything to get her back, and she somewhat came back once or twice, but I could not get her close enough to get her in the car, or grab her. I tried everything, counting to 3, telling her I was leaving w/o her (which she wouldve rather stayed so it didn`t work). She ran too far away and I knew if I started running after her, she`d run further. My mom pulled out of the driveway and drove a bit past her and I started walking calmly to her, and eventually got to her, but it was so dangerous what she did. Have you ever gotten in a situation like this, what else could I have done?

My DD is soo social, whenever we go to the park she finds kids to play with immediately, but would rather play with kids 5-6 years older than her. Idk if she`s trying to fit into an older group. Does your LO do this? She`ll also try to be the leader and pull the girls around the park. Is this a type of selfish behaviour or just outgoing, it`s almost as if the kids have no choice but to go with her lol.

When you were in labor, in transition, how long did it last? For me I could totally tell, it was as if she ripped me open, but it lasted a mere second. I have a `friend` (though I call her an acquantance bc of her behavior), that annoys me so much. I assume she`s bipolar, has cried in front of me several times, has hit and spit in her parents face, and believes her parents have problems they need to work on, not her. Anyway, I can`t just cut off her friendship, but she judges me so much, she told me I should buy vinyl gloves for when I wipe my LO`s butt, and she suggested my mom go to Curves last night, and is constantly on me about what I eat, saying `this has partially hydrogenated oil in it`, etc. She has stomach issues and is always complaining about her stomach. How quickly did your LO get potty training down. Weird thing happened to me the other day. I was in an aisle grocery shopping with my mom and daughter, she was a little bit away from me but not that far, and some guy with sunglasses on and pants past his waist goes up to us and says, `hey I`m a retired police officer, I`ve seen so many things happen to kids, you better keep a close eye on your child`, etc, and he kept going on about it. We were like, yeah, of course there are bad people out there, but seriously, he seemed like one of them! He freaked me and my mom out, I mean the guy was wearing sunglasses inside a store! I don`t let my dd get far away from me, but it was like she should be attached to my hip. I thought he was the crazy one if you ask me! Anyone had a similar experience?

my daughter has had diahhrea today, and her butt is VERY red, she is naked sitting on a blue pad for dogs. What can I put on her butt other than diaper cream to help it (bc she`s sitting w/o clothes)

My daughter is 23 months old, and for the past week 1/2 or 2 weeks, she`s been getting up at like 6 (this morning was 4), crying and coming over to me. I can`t convince her to go back to bed in her own bed, and idk if she has bad dreams or falls out of bed, but it seems unlikely that she falls out bc I think she sleeps in a spot where she wouldn`t fall. What should I do, I`m soo sleep deprived!

Anyone know how to copy a karaoke song from youtube onto your computer, so as to sing to it and make a video . I`m trying windows movie maker but idk how to save the file from youtube. Do you have to use a digital camera or can you just use a headset with microphone?

I know you`re supposed to teach your LO`s to wash their hands, but with my 22 month old, it`s so hard bc she doesn`t reach the sink! Instead I just wipe off her hands with a wet towel instead to save the trouble of holding her and thus her being uncomfortable. Plus our faucet is detachable as a sprayer too so she always tries taking it out if I take her to the sink. Any ideas to teach her to wash and dry her hands?

For those with 21 month olds (give or take a few months), do you have `scheduled` naps at the same time every day?

My 21 month old has been sleeping in a queen bed by herself for a week now. About 2 1/2 weeks ago we changed her crib to a daybed with a safety rail, she did fine for a while, then i did a change of taking her binky away cold turkey. Ever since then she hasn`t been able to sleep in her crib, she slept with us a few times, now she can sleep in the queen that lies on the floor in her room with her, but it doesn`t have a railing. She does fine with it and can crawl up in it but does this sound a little odd? What am I supposed to do with her daybed now?!

Has anyone gotten their hair relaxed or permanently straightened? I`ve heard there are 2 ways of doing it, one burns your scalp, but straightens it better, the other doesn`t work quite as well but doesn`t burn your scalp. How much does it cost? How well did it work?

Do you think it`s a little jerky that my baby`s father `claims` our daughter is named after one of the Blackhawks players because while thinking of names we had kept disagreeing. He came up with Sydney, and I said I liked it, and not until after she was born (after an affair as well), he claims she`s been named after his all time favorite team which I had no idea. We aren`t together anymore but it makes me crazy everytime he says that!

When I was pregnant 2 years ago, I must`ve gotten a pinched nerve or something. My lower back hurt so bad down by my coccyx and the sides, and every once in a while it still hurts so much I can barely walk! What should I do, and has anyone ever experienced this before?
