Hi Ciara,

Early ultrasounds are quite accurate in dating pregnancy. Especially given that the general rule for calculating pregnancy assumes a 28 day cycle with conception on day 14. Here's some info from Babyzone:
"The simple rule in ultrasound is that when the due date based on ultrasound doesn't vary from the mother's dates by more than a week, stick with the mother's dates; if the ultrasound disagrees by more than a week to ten days, it becomes wiser to rely on the ultrasound"
Hope this helps.

Welcome and congrat's on your pregnancy.

I believe that the standard for normal pregnancy sono's is around 9-12 weeks (at least here in Canada). For those women like myself with many problems they happen more often.

I get my every two weeks.

Welcome -Ciara-. Congratulations on your pregnancy. You know, when I had my DD 6 yrs ago, I had only 1 sono at 20 wks. The standard may have changed since. But I have the sense that most folks who have several in the early months may have complex histories. For ex, in that time period, I've earned that watch-her-like-a-hawk status myself, and so I've already had a sono, and still haven't even gotten to my prenatal appt. You might just call and ask the receptionist--They'll know if a sono at first visit is standard in their office, b/c they're the ones doing the paperwork for insurance co's to pay.
