I had my first ultrasound on moday and we found out it's a girl!!!!! I am estatic and have already bought a few things for her. My entire family was expecting a baby boy however, due to superstitious stuff they were so certain it was a boy, so it made me a little sad and weepy to see the disappoint in their eyes. My husband was consoling me and kept reminding me that this is OUR baby, not anyone else's, so as long as WE are happy then that's all that should matter. During the ultrasound we saw her moving around a lot and I didn't even feel a thing! And when her head started bouncing up and down, I asked the tech why she's doing that and the tech said she had the hiccups!! awwwww... we even saw little bubbles coming out of her mouth.. it was sooo adorable =) I was 18 weeks and 5 days at the time of the ultrasound but the tech said my baby was measuring a week bigger and was already 10+ ounces! So I either have a really big baby or I'm actually further along in my pregnancy, and instead of august 6th, they are moving my expected due date to august 1st! I am so excited, I can hardly wait until my baby kayla arrives ;D

Thank you so much for the reply, I wasnt planning on going to L&D and getting checked but I think today if it keeps happening I will go in after work just to make me feel a little better since you said I could have ruptured.

tiffjoy - Friday, 18 July
I see you had an eventful day!! Yeah!!! I started to lose my mucus plug this week as well. It was very sticky, kinda like a booger, eww I know, hehe!!! I was really hoping to go into labor this weekend but I just found out that my kids (while at their dads house) are going out of town. So now I want to wait until they are home, which is next week. I will be so crushed if they can't be there with us
We have picked a name, Colton Ryder!! I love the name Kayla. Keep me posted on your progress hun!!!!

No problem! Good luck and keeping fingers crossed for you. Take Care.

I would give your doctor a call so they can check you out ... when my water broke at the hospital my first pregnancy my belly was smaller then it was. It wouldn't kurt to give them a call and check you out ... if it has broke you need to be seen ASAP. I hope that this helps ... let me know what you find out.

cosmomama - Wednesday, 16 July
WOW! Lucky you! I ahd my check up yesterday and I'm not dilated AT ALL.....my little boy doesn't want to face the real world! But he is in posiion, so that's good, but only half dropped.

I bought the book at BArnes and Noble, but Im sure any book store has it, and baby stores might too. I'm not sure about Target, but you never know! Well, congrats to you! It sounds like your little girl will be here sooner than my boy!

AndreaB - Wednesday, 16 July
You rock! Congratulations on your scores in class! That is such an accomplishment and one to be proud of FOREVER. Anytime you think "not sure if I can do x, y, or z" you are going to remember this time and know you surely can cuz you're amazing! Good luck on your final tomorrow and I'm so happy your pregnancy is progressing so well. Things are a slow go here, and that is OK! I was worried a month ago that we would have to induce due to high blood pressure, but things have calmed down and I'm in much better shape, as is my little one, thank God. Keep me posted!

tiffjoy - Wednesday, 16 July
Nice, you will get to be done a day early and finally relax maybe for a few days before your little one comes. I went to the doc yesterday and am 1cm and 70% effaced, so hopefully soon. And yes, we have been actively trying to induce labor with the mattress mambo, hehehehehe!!! It helps us both out and hey we are going to have to wait at least 6wks after the baby comes to enjoy each other again, so why not use this time to our advantage Keep me posted on your progress and when that beautiful little girl comes. Do you have a name picked out yet??

cosmomama - Tuesday, 15 July
hey, no problem! Ya, What to Expect is good as a reference, but it doesn't give you a step by step about contractions, how to tell, when to go to hospital, stages of labor etc. From the Hips is a readable book that tells you step by step what to expect before, during and after labor. Even what the baby looks like and addresses the after emotions. I like it cause it even tells you the pros and cons to any decision you may be making. Anyways, as the day gets closer, I find myself reading it a lot! One of my friends recommeneded it and now I'm glad she did.

tiffjoy - Tuesday, 15 July
Good luck with your finals! Has the teacher that was giving you attitude chilled out?? I get the tightening contractions too, they really don't hurt they are just uncomfortable. I made my hubby go for a walk with me last night, hopefully we can get the contractions to come and mean business, hehe!!!

AndreaB - Tuesday, 15 July
Ugh to be dealing with stress of pregnancy and finals is too much. I'd be crying too! Can you find someone to help you time the contractions? Or are you stuck in your house studying with no one around? If you're by yourself - maybe try those contraction calculators online, like http://www.promoso.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&id=26&Itemid=1 The only reason I'm suggesting the timing is because that's probably what the Dr. or hospital is going to want to know before they determine whether it's your time, right? Besides, who wants to sit around a hospital when you don't have to. GOOD LUCK and I hope you find some relief.

jenadamandbaby - Tuesday, 15 July

 You look great!!!!!!!! :o)

kims2cute - Saturday, 12 July
I read your comment in 37 weeks. You look beautiful and exactly as big as you're supposed to be for 37 weeks. I think you did the right thing brushing off your friend's comment. Obviously they don't know much about pregnancy. I sent my sister a couple of pictures and got the same reaction you did. "Wow, you're huge" even though she gained more weight than me when she was preggers, so she knew better. Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck with the birth of your little girl. I love the name Kayla. Its beautiful.

beckaboo - Saturday, 5 July
HEY SWEETY
I hope you are having a better day today. I understand the medical system is all about one thing...MONEY! They could really give a crap about you or I. At this point I do not need to see my Dr. I will know (and so will you) when you go into labor (contractions are less than 5 minutes apart) for at least an hr. Belive in YOU! You can do this :) Screw the Dr's that screw us.

TrishW - Saturday, 5 July
i'm sorry about your situation...thats really horrbile of your insurance to do that to you this close to having your baby...our health care system suxs...keep your head up it'll work out!!

tiffjoy - Saturday, 5 July
Hey girlie, hope your having an awesome weekend!! I bought the belly cast when I wen to a baby expo, but you can buy them online as well. Here is the website of the one I used, it was super easy and lots of fun!! http://www.proudbody.com/index.jsp
Happy 4th!!!!

crashunter - Friday, 4 July
i havent heard of medi-cal either, but yes medicaid is the same as low income medical care...hope they arent the same...it seems there has to be some way for them to pay for your services, even if you pay for them first and then they reinburse you...i cant believe they would dink you around the end of your pregnancy...there has to be help somewhere

cosmomama - Friday, 4 July
hi! I took a few classes actually. A breastfeeding class, infant care and Prep for childbirth. They were beneficial in helping me understand what to expect and educating me on labor. But, everyone is different and lots of the info may not even apply to me. I'd recommend classes if you can take them and still have time, however we all know that women have been doing this since the beginning of time without classes! SO, if you don't end up taking classes, you'll be ok. In fact, if you read any good pregnancy book (I like From The Hips) they pretty much go throught the stages of labor and anything else you'd need to know. SO if all else fails, just buy a book. I can't believe they wouldn't let you in after just 10 minutes! Thats rude. Anyways, hope this info helped. Overall, I took like 4-5 classes, and only remember tid bits anyways!

keez1979 - Friday, 4 July
Hey, I read your post about your insurance plan. I know it sucks to have to switch doctors, but hopefully you should be alright. I am in the military and I have seen at least 5 different doctors, 3 midwives, and a nurse practitioner since I found I was preggo! It kind of sucks. . .I've only seen the doctor who is performing my C-Section once, and I wasn't very pleased with him, but I don't have much of a choice. I know that everything will work out for the best with you, though. Good luck.

I read your post about your insurance and I feel for you! My insurance was cancelled by BCBS because I paid 3 days late, even though I called and told them i had sent the payment. Nice, huh? I had to pay 2 months in advance to get it reinstated, which we didn't have the money for and had to borrow from my in-laws, very embarrasing. I don't know if you are in the US, but if so, I would just go to the ER and explain the situation and see what they will do for you. You definitely should be seen one or two more times before delivery, maybe the hospital can work something out with you, good luck, keep us posted
